00:00In my opinion, all of the best music is made easy.
00:03The White Castle burgers are mine. My drummer, Pat, he put me onto those.
00:07They are an absolute guilty pleasure.
00:09Let's see. Oh my god!
00:11Okay. Ah, there we go.
00:43Hey, how's it going? Come on in.
00:45Yo, I'm Fox Stevenson, or Stan, and we're on tour right now in the USA, Canada,
00:51promoting my second album, which came out some months ago.
00:55I'm not too sure. And yeah, welcome to our bus.
00:59So we haven't really set up much entertainment yet.
01:02We've had a nightmare couple of days, but we do have a big JBL somewhere in one of my bags.
01:08We've got a steam deck that we'll hopefully set up at some point.
01:12TV channels aren't working right now either.
01:14So it's been a lot of this, like just holding our phones and sitting for hours on end,
01:21but comfy enough, I guess.
01:24In the fridge, we've got some basics that we...
01:28Another note, we're not allowed to use the microwave right now, so none of this matters right now.
01:33But we've got just some snacks and stuff.
01:35The White Castle burgers are mine.
01:36My drummer, Pat, he put me onto those.
01:39They are an absolute guilty pleasure.
01:41But at 2am, they are the best thing.
01:45What else we got?
01:46We've got a few vegetarians on board, so we've got like white rice.
01:52What else?
01:53What else we got?
01:53The mac and cheese.
01:54Oh no, that's for Fleur.
01:56That's for you.
01:56She adores mac and cheese.
01:59And we don't really get very good frozen mac and cheese in Europe, so we get that while we can.
02:07So, Pat, our drummer, has a crippling Diet Coke addiction.
02:11I don't know if he'd appreciate me describing it like that, so we're always rolling with at least 15 cans,
02:18usually double that.
02:21Got some oat milk and milk for the vegans and non-vegans.
02:25We make oatmeal in the morning, like porridge.
02:28The Red Bulls are Jeremy, our sound guy, big fan of Red Bull.
02:32He's a big fan of Red Bull.
02:34And yeah, that's Fleur again with the cheese sticks.
02:38Yeah, cheese for her.
02:39She's Dutch.
02:40Well, luckily, everything's being taken into the venue right now, but we actually had a big problem with gear yesterday,
02:45because obviously we can't fit an entire show in this room.
02:48We brought out all of our electronic equipment, because we have like a rack with some interfaces,
02:54and Jeremy brings his own mixing console.
02:56They, and Buster's guitar, when we brought them all in, they had frost all over them that was melting from
03:03the condensation when we moved into the venue.
03:07So, luckily, everything turned on all right, but we sat them all in a hot room for like two hours
03:12before we felt safe to turn them on.
03:14It was scary.
03:15It's so cold out here.
03:16Unprecedented.
03:17Unprecedented.
03:19Unprecedented.
03:19So, over here we have my kettle, which the other part of it is probably in my bag.
03:25Oh wait, no, it's up here.
03:26I have one of these.
03:27Yeah, I always get stopped in airports for this thing.
03:30It's a steam inhaler.
03:31They're good for vocal health, and they kind of like limber you up real nice.
03:35So, we make sure we have the kettle everywhere, because not every venue has boiling water for us.
03:41This is my snack drawer.
03:44It's pretty polar.
03:45We've got a lot of fruit and a lot of evil.
03:48So, I love Cheerios.
03:50I really love Cheerios, and I can't explain why, but they are just right for me.
03:55What else?
03:58Just some apples.
03:59I don't have that much.
04:00I'm not snacking much.
04:01I usually don't eat until the evening anyway, and then I eat big.
04:05This is an orchid.
04:06These are quite new.
04:07They're really interesting, because you can see down here, you've got all these chord names.
04:11So, if you hold a D and you go minor, minus seven, then you get a D minus seven like
04:16that,
04:16and you can just move that around.
04:18It's really fun for writing, because it means you're not tripping up over your fingers,
04:23and it has a little looping thing in there and loads of arpeggios and stuff.
04:26It's really cool.
04:27They're great.
04:27I love these.
04:28We've got Yue's over here.
04:31She's got some oranges and some oats.
04:34Like, she's the porridge queen.
04:35She makes porridge for everyone every morning.
04:38This is Buster's snacks.
04:42Pretty bear, actually.
04:43He must have been eating them.
04:44He used to have a lot of good junk up in there.
04:46We are using the drawers for shoes, but because it's so cold, we've been...
04:49Yeah, usually we use these as shoe drawers, but because it's so cold, the flip-flops are just getting...
04:55Like the slides, they're getting way too cold for everyone, so we've been...
04:58We've done away with the no-shoes rule for a while.
05:01We'll see how long that lasts.
05:03Maybe when we get down to Florida.
05:05This is where I am most hours that we're driving.
05:09I find that it's really hard to be a music producer on tour sometimes, I find, because...
05:16For me, I like to have a keyboard and because I sing on my stuff, singing is kind of a
05:20big part of my process.
05:22But when I'm here, I've fixed half of that problem.
05:26Yeah, I just work on stuff as much as I can, even though I'm fighting the engine at all times
05:31with the low end.
05:32It seems to be doing okay.
05:34I've had some results in the last 24 hours, so we're finding our stride.
05:39People might think that being on tour is uniquely and directly inspiring for making music,
05:46and I honestly don't know if I think it is or isn't.
05:49What I would say is that it does leave me feeling creative in general.
05:55I'm not coming off a show with an idea for what I really wish I had played at the show.
05:59I'm just kind of more subtly leaned in that direction.
06:03And the thing I want to make sure happens at all times is that if I do feel like there's
06:09an idea coming,
06:10I can just put it down as fast as I can because, in my opinion, all of the best music
06:15is made easy.
06:18If you have to struggle through making a piece of music and you're pushing it through some kind of bottleneck,
06:24you'll always end up tensing up the piece in a certain sense or making concessions
06:32when really you just need to be honest whether it's working or not working
06:36and go with when it's working and just let it be right.
06:39It could be better, but often it's worse from making it better.
06:44So, bunks! We've got Patrick up here, tour manager drummer.
06:48Jeremy, sound.
06:51We've got Yue, Fleur. She's the opener.
06:57We've got Buster, guitarist down here.
07:00We've got Grace on merch up here and I am here.
07:03We've got a little junk bunk down here with some clothes and stuff.
07:07I don't know if there's a lot interesting about my bunk.
07:10I started shaving recently.
07:11I had a beard for years and that's been causing me issues in this cold.
07:15But yeah, literally just blankets and a charger.
07:19Oh, actually, no, that might be interesting.
07:21I listen to audiobooks a lot.
07:24I listen to audiobooks when I sleep, like fiction ones.
07:26And if you lie on a headphone cup, they always feed back with their nose cancelling ones.
07:33So I have this to put my head down on with the headphones so that I can keep my ears
07:37away from the pillow.
07:39Alright, now for the bathroom.
07:41Pat, no. No. No pissing. No pissing.
07:44What do you mean?
07:45We're frozen, man. Remember. Remember.
07:46You know this. You know this, man.
07:49Dude.
07:50Fuck's sake.
07:52It's okay, man.
07:55He'll do it again tomorrow.
07:56Okay, ah. Towels on the floor. Nice.
07:59He's always bought a towel.
08:00Loads of towels. Everyone has color-coded towels for the crew and me and everyone.
08:06Honestly, it's pretty bare in here.
08:08We haven't been able to use the shower for a couple of days.
08:11Same reasons. Everything's just been frozen up.
08:14The water pump isn't running right now.
08:16I'm dropping towels everywhere.
08:18Is there anything up here?
08:20Try and turn the taps on.
08:21Oh, actually, that's not-
08:22You're okay with that?
08:23Yeah, yeah, I'm fine with that.
08:24Let's see.
08:25Oh, my God.
08:26Okay.
08:27Ah, there we go.
08:28Nice.
08:28Did we get some water?
08:29We had a small amount.
08:31Oh, my God.
08:31A little bit.
08:32Yeah, no. Nothing.
08:34Not much.
08:34Some conditioner.
08:36Some nice conditioner.
08:36But, yeah, not much back here at the moment.
08:40We've been showering or not showering in venues.
08:44Thank you all for coming and seeing our bus.
08:46It's been a trying time the last 24 hours, but I'm glad you came through.
08:51I've been Fox Stevenson.
08:52If you want to hear about what we're doing, the best place would be any of the social medias.
08:56We also have a Discord if you're interested in hanging out with some like-minded folks.
09:01And, yeah, we'll be on tour for the next month or so through to the end of February.
09:05And make sure you go listen to the newest album, Sunk Cost Fallacy, The Deluxe, dropped yesterday.
09:11And it features a remix and a load of vocal acoustic demos that were the original versions of the songs.
09:20So, yeah.
09:21Go check that out and I'll see you on the road.
10:00I'll see you on camera.
10:01You can do this.
10:06said it shows.
10:07Oh Mike's it.
10:07Oh my God.
10:08Ripple man.
10:09The essential is, you know what it is.
10:10Hehehehe.
