00:05Previously, on Project Runway Canada, Curtis, Leland, and Charles, congratulations, you have
00:12made it to the finale. Top three! You have seven weeks and $10,000 to create your own collection
00:19of 10 looks. This is the ultimate challenge. It's been a month, and I am so excited to check in
00:26with
00:27the designers. This is going to be my opening look. I think where I'm struggling is the bright white.
00:33The white makes this really expensive lace look cheap. Damn, okay. Is every look in this collection
00:41plaid? No, just seven to eight. Right now, I'm not sold. What is wearable? You have to find a path
00:51into people's closets. Yes. Because this won't fit in my closet, literally.
00:57We are two days away from the final runway. This is all happening.
01:05The vision is coming alive. You know who's going to be really excited to get these?
01:09Who? The bargain bin. I know that this took a lot of work, but how else can you make it
01:16more
01:16like haute couture? Where are the sleeves? One of them is here. They're still in pieces,
01:21or what? The runway is tomorrow. At stake for the winner, from TV, a career-launching investment
01:31of $100,000 and a feature in Elle Canada magazine with global supermodel Coco Rocha, fashion designer
01:40Spencer Badu, creative director Aurora James, and legendary fashion journalist Jeanne Becker.
01:48This is Project Runway Canada.
02:00This is so surreal.
02:03God, whoa!
02:04What if you...
02:05Oh, my God. Oh, my God.
02:08Twelve of us came here wanting to win this competition, and only three of us are here pushing towards
02:14that finish line.
02:15Do you believe we're here?
02:16No.
02:18Top three!
02:19Top three!
02:20I think we're ready for what's next.
02:23Are you guys excited to see your collection's debut on that runway tomorrow?
02:27Oh, my God, yeah.
02:28I think we can all attest to the fact that we love fashion. You can just tell by how hard
02:33we work that we love what we do. And we're friends. That's, like, so important.
02:38Yeah.
02:39Because, like, we're all so different.
02:41Curtis, you're so young, and to be able to do this at this point in your life is so huge.
02:47You just have so much going for you.
02:49And you take risks within this competition, where people would not have taken risks, where
02:54they wanted to be safe. You were just like, well, you know what? I'm going to do it. And
02:58it paid off, because you're here sitting with us.
03:03And that's an honor. Like, first of all, let me say thank you, because that means the
03:07world coming from you. But I've revered both of you so much. Like, Charles, the way that
03:12your brain thinks and designs garments, like, you are a true designer.
03:16And Leland, your ability to bring joy effortlessly. Not a single design of yours has not made me smile.
03:25I'm so glad to be standing next to you, too.
03:27I'll drink to that.
03:28Charles, would you crack it?
03:30I am going to.
03:32Oh!
03:33It's been an honor sharing this experience with you.
03:36Through all of our adversity and all the challenges that we've had to go through, we came out on
03:41top, we showed who we were, and we're going to show who we are tomorrow.
03:46Cheers!
03:47Cheers!
04:04There have been times throughout this process that I've questioned myself, but then I realized
04:10that all of these decisions have got me to this point. $100,000, it can change my life.
04:18Winning this $100,000 would just give me the ability to create this future career that I'm dreaming of having.
04:25I deserve to win the title. And I am so ready to hold the weight of what it means to
04:31be the winner of
04:32Project Runway Canada.
04:40Girl, let's go!
04:41No, go, go, go! We have so much work to do!
04:45Oh, my gosh.
04:47Today's my new day, and I have so much to do.
04:50I have to add the sleeves onto the finale look. I have to hand sew so much.
04:56Are you ready? How much work do you have left?
04:58Girl, quite a bit.
05:01There are still so many final little details to get done before this runway.
05:06I have so many custom hats that need to be finished perfectly.
05:11Accessories are paramount to my collection.
05:14I mean, you know me. I'm, like, never done until everyone's wearing a hat, 17 bracelets, the shoes are studded,
05:19like.
05:20Um, I have a zipper.
05:24Baby, I'm stressing. I just really want to make sure this green plaid dress is perfect.
05:29It's so important that this one fits. This is a perfect representation of my Scottish heritage, so I'm going to
05:38do whatever I can do in the last few minutes just to make sure it's impeccable.
05:42Good morning, designers!
05:44Good morning!
05:46It is final runway day today. Let's get your models in here. Come on in!
05:52Let's do it!
05:54Go, go, go, Charles. Go, go, go, go, go!
05:56All right, let's go!
05:58Oh!
06:01Come on, first five, seven.
06:05Okay, we're doing this extremely quickly.
06:08So let's start with you.
06:09All these models need help getting dressed, and I have 28 individually made pieces within my collection.
06:15So I'll trade that off to you.
06:17Thank you, thank you. Are you okay to put those on?
06:19I've never dressed anyone this fast. Just, there you go.
06:24All right, Charles, where is the finale look?
06:27The finale look is here. I still need to put on the model.
06:29I'm stressed out right now. I only have a few hours until runway, and I haven't even touched this finale
06:34look.
06:35When do you plan on finishing it?
06:36Right after this.
06:37This is the time.
06:40Yeah.
06:40I think we have to, like, actually actively, like, do it now.
06:43Yeah.
06:43I am scared to finish it because it also means the end.
06:46It's not just a finale look. It is about my family. And this is not a collection. This is a
06:52love letter.
06:55I believe in me.
06:57I believe in you, too. I believe in you so much.
06:59It needs to be a wow moment.
07:02I need to get it done.
07:06Walk me through what's happening and what's still left to do.
07:09So, I need to get this skirt back onto my lovely model.
07:13Yes.
07:13Because this is going to be my closing look.
07:15Oh, it is.
07:16Little bit of accessorizing to happen on our sailor.
07:19Okay.
07:20So, accessorizing here. Otherwise, this look is done.
07:23Otherwise, it's perfect.
07:24Okay.
07:24Then I have a question for you.
07:25I have an answer, hopefully.
07:30Are you asking me if you should be putting the knee pads back into the show?
07:34This is what I'm going to say to you.
07:36You have to do what you feel like is right.
07:39Okay.
07:41You must do this and have no regrets.
07:44Ugh.
07:44What am I going to regret more, though? Using them or not using them?
07:47I don't know. It depends on if you go home with $100,000 or not.
07:50And maybe it's a game-time decision that you have to make.
07:53Yeah.
07:53You may not be able to make it right now.
07:55Yeah.
07:56You have to do you.
07:58I need to figure this out.
08:01Hold on. Can we talk about this look and the changes that you made? Because it's amazing.
08:08Yes! Yes!
08:09Come on over. Come on over. Come on over.
08:11Are you in love?
08:12I think this is, like, my favorite look that I've made.
08:16It's so incredible and it really pushed me out of my comfort zone, you know?
08:21And you took the belt off.
08:22I took the belt off for this exact second.
08:25Okay, but they're going back on.
08:26I think they will go on.
08:28Right now, I think this corset looks much cleaner and much more elevated without the belt.
08:34Maybe the corset doesn't need a belt.
08:36It's giving her an incredible silhouette right now.
08:41Yay!
08:42Okay, now we can work and twerk.
08:48Designers, it's time for hair and makeup.
08:50Get your models over to the L'Oreal Paris Glam Room.
08:55I love that.
08:57So what I'm really hoping to do with some makeup here is maybe go, like, a heavier blush, a smoky
09:02eye, and then I think just a neutral lip because the collection has, like, a lot of colors.
09:07I am obsessed.
09:09And now that we're done, we're going to lock in the makeup layers by using L'Oreal Paris Infallible 3
09:15Second Setting Mist.
09:16Ooh.
09:19It looks so great.
09:26It's moving right here.
09:37Sorry.
09:38Oops.
09:39Oh, my God.
09:40This is insane.
09:42Do a spin for me.
09:44Oh, we need to tie this.
09:46Final runway is happening!
09:50That needs to be one tighter.
09:51We're about to go to the runway, and I've done everything I can.
09:55Oh, my God, I saw the lace at the back.
09:57I can't even see because I'm sweating into my eyes.
10:00Can someone please get me a tissue?
10:02What happened with the leather tin dress piece?
10:04We're not using it.
10:06We're not using it?
10:06No.
10:07Okay.
10:07I agreed with your feedback, but I'm going to do this, which is the hand pieces.
10:11Okay.
10:11Who do you want them on?
10:12On Miss Tin.
10:13I spent so much time on these, and I want to send at least one pair down this runway.
10:18This is a suit of armor.
10:20She's got to be ready to fight.
10:21You guys look amazing.
10:24Did you finish the finale look?
10:25Yeah, the finale look is finished.
10:27Okay, great.
10:28Everyone, we have ten minutes.
10:29If you're a model and you need something, now is the time to say so.
10:34If anyone needs to take a step back, look at your collection and edit something, now is the time.
10:40Switch.
10:41No with her.
10:43Throughout this whole competition, I feel like I haven't been recognized to the level I needed to be recognized.
10:49Okay, one last thing, but this time, all the walls are down.
10:53And this is me.
10:54This is Charles Liu.
10:55Alright, you guys ready to rock this?
10:57We're about to do the biggest runway show of our life, and everything's on the line right now.
11:02I'm looking back, and I feel good with what's here.
11:05And I know it's runway ready.
11:09My job is done.
11:11Models are ready, and they're going to walk down that runway for better or for worse.
11:15Let's start the show!
11:17Let's do this!
11:20Let's do this!
11:34Welcome to the Project Runway Canada finale!
11:42Tonight, we celebrate the imagination and talent of our three finalists.
11:47Curtis, Leland, and Charles have poured their heart and soul into the collections you're about to see this evening.
11:54And this is their big moment.
11:57But first, please welcome our judges.
12:02Fashion designer, Spencer Badu.
12:07Fashion journalist, Jeannie Becker.
12:12And welcome back, creative visionary, Jason Wu.
12:19We all watched our finalists take their first steps in this competition.
12:23And now, we will see how far they've come.
12:27What's happening?
12:29Is everyone ready?
12:32Let's start the show!
12:44Let's start the show!
12:48Hi, everyone.
12:49I just want to say that this is not a collection.
12:53This is a love letter.
12:57And this story is about me meeting my grandmother for the first time in Vietnam.
13:02And then also, I figured out, as I was making this collection, it was really about my family building their
13:11life.
13:11And then I'm a representation of how far they've come.
13:16Thank you!
13:27Oh, my God!
13:41In this collection, I've created individual pieces that work on their own, but together
13:46they tell a very strong story.
14:02This sort of gray olive color is where we're going more into Vietnam and kind of like these
14:08shapes typical in our culture.
14:23One thing in this collection that's really prevalent is this shape of the owl eyes.
14:27The lines are so good.
14:29This look is ultra feminine, but has masculine elements as well.
14:33It is really the next evolution into my design stage.
14:46This collection is about everything I'm trying to connect to.
14:54Wow.
15:05This is one of the best pieces I've ever made.
15:08It is so dynamic, it is so powerful, it is so emotional.
15:18Boy, I could see the work that went into that one.
15:21Unbelievable.
15:22I mean, look at your mom's crying.
15:25Aww, Charles.
15:30Okay.
15:32There we go.
15:36This piece is the finale piece because not only is it all white, which is the antithesis
15:43of what I started with.
15:44This is where the culture of my family really comes out, referencing where I came from.
15:53Whoa, that was exhilarating.
15:59This is so special.
16:02All of these separate pieces are really the fabric of who I am as a person.
16:08Everything I learned in the last 20 years of my life were put into this collection, and
16:15I know I've done my absolute best.
16:31Hello, hello.
16:33It is my honor to present this collection to you all tonight that I have titled, I Wither
16:39Then Bite.
16:40My inspiration for this collection was my journey with fear.
16:45Throughout my whole life, I've let fear control my actions, whether it was the fear of never
16:51being good enough, the fear of expressing my authentic gender expression, or the fear
16:56of committing my life to being a fashion designer.
16:59And I let that fear build up this armor on me that I thought was protecting me, but it was
17:05really holding me back, and it was through this competition that I learned to take pieces
17:09of those armor off.
17:23Seeing my first look come down this runway is amazing.
17:31It really represents the shedding of an old skin and a rebirth.
17:35The whole point is that I'm taking off my armor, you know?
17:38I'm letting my guard down and being really vulnerable here.
17:43I'm a queer designer creating for the queer community.
17:48And it took me coming here to realize that fashion was the vehicle that brought myself to
17:53my own identity.
17:57Oh, yeah.
17:58The silhouette is so good.
18:00It's sexy, but it's weird, which I feel like is me.
18:12I wanted to use these 10 looks to really show the judges how much I can do.
18:37I'm honestly really impressed I was able to pull off an outerwear piece like this.
18:55Yes.
18:56Yes.
18:56It's so cool.
18:56I mean, it's very you.
18:58It's very Curtis.
19:02This whole collection is pieces I would wear and be happy to wear.
19:07And I think that's a huge step for me.
19:12I love this look.
19:23These characters are existing in the same world that all uses the same colors and textures
19:28and palette.
19:29I love it.
19:34Ooh, yes.
19:36Ooh.
19:37Gonna be a real slow walk with Miss Tin Man.
19:49So cool.
19:50The sequined mermaid gown, just the complete representation of where I'm at now.
19:55I wanted it to feel modern, you know?
19:57Oh, wow.
19:58The future of Canadian fashion.
20:00It is really a beautiful capstone to my entire journey here.
20:04Not what I expected.
20:06Not me.
20:18I finally feel proud of myself.
20:21This has been such a huge accomplishment for me.
20:24And all of the sacrifices I've made are completely paying off.
20:37Can I get that girl out of that metal skirt now?
20:40Woo!
20:42Oh, my God.
20:43Hey, everybody!
20:44Wow!
20:46Oh, my God.
20:47Hi, guys.
20:48How are you?
20:49I really wish I could put this entire experience into words.
20:53It has been like a fairy tale.
20:55My collection represents my heritage, where I'm half Chinese, half Scottish, but through
21:01a punk lens.
21:03I really, really, really want to bring fun back into fashion.
21:06So, yeah.
21:07Enjoy.
21:08Bye.
21:15Oh!
21:17Yes!
21:19Wow.
21:27Our collections could not be more different.
21:29I know.
21:30I know.
21:31See, that's what I want.
21:32The smiles.
21:33Just people seeing it and going, oh, my God.
21:35So fun, Leland.
21:45I really wanted to play around with splitting up garments and juxtaposing them even more
21:50to really feel that punkiness.
21:56Fun.
21:56Good, guys.
21:57Oh, God.
22:06I'm hoping the judges are seeing a little bit of wearability with this, and also just
22:11a fun edginess.
22:15So strong.
22:31My first collection, I feel real proud about it.
22:34You should.
22:34You should.
22:35Oh, my God.
22:35It's wonderful.
22:37She's loving it.
22:39Oh!
22:41Ooh!
22:43Baby!
22:44Baby, that's Sparkle City.
22:47Looks like liquid metal.
22:49Yeah.
22:54Love.
22:55Love.
23:15Oh.
23:16Oh, wow.
23:17That's so fun.
23:30It's fun.
23:32It's fashion.
23:33It's camp.
23:34I'm really excited to show that off and show off something weird that's gonna make you smile.
23:43Wow.
23:47I really wanted to sell Scottish at certain points and sell Chinese at certain points.
23:53This one makes me feel proud to be Chinese.
23:57If you look in the mouth, there's some red tartan in there, too.
24:01I think I can not smile.
24:07Oh.
24:08I can't see this.
24:11Oh.
24:12Oh.
24:13It's great.
24:14I literally just feel the most confident I've ever felt seeing this come down the runway.
24:21I'm so happy I'm ending off with this leather gown because it just feels like a culmination of everything.
24:27This is costumey.
24:29And it is campy.
24:31But it is also high fashion.
24:43It's my first collection, and it's screaming Leland.
24:47Like, not a little whisper, baby.
24:50It's shouting my name.
24:51I love all of you.
24:58Thank you, thank you.
25:04Oh.
25:06Oh.
25:07Oh.
25:08You bring it in, everybody.
25:09Oh.
25:11Thank you so much.
25:14I'm so proud of them all.
25:15They did so well.
25:16Amazing.
25:17Yeah, we did it!
25:19It was unexpected, and I loved it.
25:24It was breathtaking.
25:25I almost fainted.
25:27I love it when clothes speak to me,
25:29shouting at me to say, like,
25:31Kirk, I need you to be wearing my collection right now,
25:33so I got really excited with that.
25:35All the designers had pieces that really made us smile,
25:39and the judges are going to have
25:41really tough decisions to make tonight.
25:44I can't believe we're done.
25:46I can.
25:47I'm so tired.
25:55Tonight, the three of you proved
25:58that you are the best of the best in this competition.
26:01I know there has to be one winner.
26:03I know that.
26:04But this was so good from all of you.
26:06All your collections were amazing.
26:08Seeing the way all three of you have grown through
26:09all this competition has truly blown me away.
26:12Congratulations.
26:13You really touched us all.
26:16Let's bring out your models.
26:27Charles, how are you feeling right now?
26:28Very nice.
26:31We asked you to show us new silhouettes, and you delivered.
26:35That bow dress was a real wow moment for me.
26:39It was very old Hollywood.
26:40Well, I really wanted to take things that were traditionally evening wear, and then add sport wear elements into those.
26:48And then take things that were traditionally street wear, and then make those more evening.
26:53And even within here, this is like a neoprene sport material, which I combined.
26:58People get confused.
26:59They think it's a dress.
27:00They're actually pants.
27:01I like the first three looks the most.
27:03I thought they were really well made.
27:06Do I think there could be some refinements?
27:08Yes.
27:09Some of the accessorizing was a bit distracting to your work.
27:13But what's very important is that you realize the importance of leaning into your vulnerability.
27:17This is the collection where it just flowed right through me.
27:21Those last few pieces, I was like, wow, they are so well executed.
27:27I could see those pieces in a couture show, and it's refreshing.
27:31And I was like, well, if he can do that, what else can he do?
27:34So much more.
27:35So, so proud of you.
27:38Thank you so much.
27:39I totally agree, Anne.
27:40One of my favorite looks, I would say, was the dress with the pink necktie.
27:44It seemed like you flirted with color.
27:45Well, I just really wanted it very balanced.
27:48And I wanted that one color I used to be very important.
27:53It's referring to my mom.
27:55Pink is her favorite color.
27:57Watching her tearing up was, I'm sure, a big deal for you.
28:02That she was so proud.
28:05Your heart was in every stitch of it, obviously.
28:09Is there anything you would have changed looking back?
28:13It's really hard to tell a full story in 10 pieces, but I think I did my absolute best.
28:18And I'm very proud of what I've done.
28:21Congratulations on an amazing collection.
28:25Curtis.
28:26Hello.
28:27I wither and then bite.
28:30Why?
28:31Explain it.
28:32This was really centered around my journey with fear, not only through this competition, but through my entire life.
28:38You kind of have to go through these sort of transformations and rebirths to step into something that's been waiting
28:45for you the whole time.
28:45Truly, what came down the runway was 10 different versions of myself.
28:50I really have appreciated the way you've been able to contrast gender and create something that is unconventional.
28:58This looks as sort of my take on a suit of armor.
29:01And it's something that demands attention.
29:03It's confident.
29:04It's bold.
29:05It's a little cheeky.
29:06It's risky.
29:06And it's really everything that I've turned into throughout this whole experience.
29:10I always love the stories that you tell.
29:13And your attention to detail is great.
29:15I know like we've had a lot of discussions about corsets.
29:18Maybe we shouldn't be doing so many corsets, but at the end of the day, you know, they really work
29:23with what you do.
29:24I nurture corsetry and it's something that's always going to be that pulse of my creativity.
29:29But my opening look was very intentional where the corset was unbound.
29:33You're so good at craftsmanship.
29:36You know how to create something.
29:38And I know every choice you make has a reason.
29:42And I love that.
29:44There was something daring about the way you incorporated the sportiness, the shoulder pads with the drapery.
29:49The coat for me was amazing.
29:51And then the little like kind of bustle or crinoline pop in the back.
29:55Yeah, I definitely wear that.
29:57Fabulous.
29:58Going to this competition, I think we knew that we were going to get historical references.
30:02And we were asking you to push it into something that was modern.
30:06And I think you did that today.
30:08Obviously the historical element is always going to inform things, but I pushed myself quite far with like some of
30:14the silhouettes that I played with and the materials.
30:16Playing with different materials is great.
30:18But I think it was a little bit awkward.
30:21You don't really want to see that struggle physically on the runway.
30:24I agree.
30:25I think the tin fabric kind of went a bit too far.
30:28It's a fine balance, but you know, I love your work.
30:31And I thought this was a nice evolution.
30:34Thank you, Curtis.
30:35Thank you for all your kind words.
30:37Leland, how you feeling?
30:39Oh my God, like on cloud nine right now.
30:41I never thought that I would be here.
30:44It's been incredible to really explore these sides of myself.
30:48We were unsure of if you could create ideas without someone giving you a specific idea.
30:55This was a strong look.
30:58This was one where you were not playing around.
31:01We got to see who you were as a designer, who you are as a person.
31:04I'll say like, this is probably my favorite piece in the collection.
31:08But the drive and the creativeness was just flowing through me.
31:11I quite enjoyed your collection.
31:13I thought it was fun.
31:15You started with the bang, right?
31:17Look three, less.
31:19I like the cross between the biker jacket and the bomber, yes.
31:22But if that was amped up way bigger in proportion, it would match the energy of what you were showing.
31:29This show was a roller coaster.
31:30There was highs and there was lows.
31:32Like the diamante tank top, that was one of the looks I wasn't a fan of.
31:36You know, I didn't really understand where it made sense in the collection as a whole.
31:40Here's my thing.
31:41I think everyone had fillers, to be honest.
31:43There was a few fillers for everyone.
31:45However, I have to say when you came out and was like, I just want fun.
31:49Me too.
31:50The dragon made me smile.
31:52Aw.
31:53It was a little tacky, but I don't think that's bad.
31:55And that in itself means something.
31:59You really have brought me personally a lot of joy.
32:04And I have to say that dress, wow.
32:07I've been to some of the most incredible couture shows in the world.
32:13And I was like right up there.
32:15Good job.
32:16That was a great way to end it.
32:18Thank you, designers.
32:20And congratulations again.
32:22This won't be an easy decision.
32:25The three of you may leave the runway one last time.
32:30Thanks so much.
32:31See you.
32:31Bye.
32:35Oh, my gosh.
32:37What a day.
32:38What a crazy time, eh?
32:39What a day.
32:43I can't even comprehend what's going to happen after this for me and for all of us.
32:48I guess our fate is in the hands of the judges now.
32:53I am so impressed with those designers.
32:56They put on a show for us.
32:57I'm so proud of them.
32:58I love that we saw three very different opinions on fashion.
33:04That was a lot of work.
33:07Right?
33:07They pushed themselves.
33:09Well, I think there's no doubt that all three have great potential.
33:13When it comes to Charles, I was impressed off the bat.
33:17Look one, two, and three.
33:18I thought they were great.
33:19Sporty.
33:20It felt like him.
33:22It looks like him.
33:23I mean, technically savvy.
33:24But then when it got further into the middle, when we saw the pink, we started to be softened.
33:30That splash of pink.
33:31I love that pink gown.
33:33And he went someplace he never went before.
33:35We did ask for different silhouettes.
33:37The big bow.
33:38I'm going to wear that one day.
33:40That's why I really appreciate what Charles has created.
33:42Charles knows who he is.
33:44His clothes usually look like armor.
33:46And we still got that armor today, but there was a lightness to it, you know?
33:49It felt strong, but also delicate.
33:52One of the highlights for me was he told us a really beautiful and personal story.
33:57It really did feel like a love letter.
33:58But I think if he pared it down a little bit more, I think it would have been better.
34:02I understand the cultural aspect of it, the reference in Vietnam.
34:05But to me, a bit literal, with the hats, it leaned to costuming for me.
34:12Okay, let's talk about Curtis.
34:14Curtis knows fashion.
34:16And I think he has the potential to really go far.
34:19And I could see this new version of him.
34:21There's the sequins.
34:23There's the mermaid shape.
34:25There's the lacing.
34:26There were some really interesting pieces and really interesting, compelling looks.
34:32And the fact that he really gave us these separates that you could maybe wear in your own whimsical way.
34:39I loved that t-shirt.
34:41That t-shirt could be very commercial.
34:43You know, that's something I can see in the stores.
34:45You know what my favorite was?
34:46The coat.
34:47It was, for me, very digestible.
34:50Yeah, I actually thought, like, I'd wear that.
34:52Exactly.
34:53I thought the coat, if it was cinched with a very tight corset, it would have been sexier.
34:58To me, that jacket wasn't done right.
35:00Where it flared out in the back did not flare out in the right spot.
35:04It was too low.
35:05That is an issue.
35:08And then Leland.
35:10I think Leland's collection brought so much joy to the runway.
35:14I really was amazed by this.
35:16It's not necessarily my taste, but I was interested.
35:21First look had, like, you know, it gives me a little galliana almost, you know?
35:24Look one was amazing.
35:25I think that was a great way to, like, set the tone.
35:27But then I think there was some parts of the collection that felt maybe more pedestrian.
35:33Look one's a high.
35:34Look two is interesting.
35:36Look three for me, you know?
35:37Look two interesting?
35:38Those two first looks I could see on Cardi B.
35:41The best designers that I've ever seen have a little sass.
35:44And it's nice to finally smile at something.
35:48Those outfits just made you want to scream with joy.
35:51That dragon dress was hilarious.
35:54We've been telling him, you know, don't do the costumes.
35:56And there were still a couple of costumes in there, no question.
36:00But it's almost like he couldn't resist it.
36:02And I actually got teary-eyed when that last magnificent ball gown came out
36:07because I thought that was the most incredible kind of, you know,
36:10punk ball gown than I'd ever seen.
36:14And I've seen a lot of them.
36:15Yeah, you know, I think I agree.
36:17The last look for me was one of my favorites.
36:19I think it was a great way to end the show.
36:22This reminded me why I fell in love with fashion in the first place.
36:27I'm so blown away by each and every one of them.
36:31They all really proved that they are willing to go the distance.
36:37I mean, this is the hardest it's been this whole season.
36:40So proud of all of them.
36:42This is so difficult.
36:45So do we have a consensus?
36:49Let's bring out the designers.
36:54Designers, your collections were bold, surprising, and deeply personal.
37:02And honestly, you blew us all away.
37:07Charles, your craftsmanship is unmatched.
37:13But it's your distinct aesthetic that brought you to this moment.
37:17Your collection was a love letter to your family.
37:22And I can say sincerely, it's the best work we've seen from you.
37:29Curtis, you're a master storyteller.
37:33You seamlessly blend history with a boundary-pushing attitude.
37:38You've been a strong competitor from the start.
37:40And this was one of your most exciting chapters yet.
37:46Leland, drag, costume, camp.
37:52You challenged many labels throughout this competition.
37:55But your integrity as a designer always stayed intact.
38:00Your collection proves that there isn't a box big enough to put you in.
38:06You are a fashion designer.
38:08Oh.
38:12The winner of a feature spread in Elle Canada magazine.
38:17From TD, a career-launching investment of $100,000.
38:23And the title of Canada's next great fashion designer is...
38:47Leland.
38:49Oh, my God!
38:57Oh, my God!
38:58You did it!
39:03Oh, yes!
39:05Oh, no!
39:08Baby, I won Project Runway Canada!
39:12I'm a fashion designer!
39:16Oh, Jeannie, bring it in here!
39:18I love you so much!
39:19Oh, my God!
39:20I literally cannot believe that, like, it all happened.
39:25Oh!
39:28Mom!
39:30This moment means so much to me.
39:32It shows that people need joy right now.
39:35And if I can be this mascot for some joy, baby, I'm down.
39:39I came in here, like, as a costume designer through and through.
39:44I have learned so much and experienced so many incredible things that when Coco says,
39:51you are a fashion designer, it really, really hits home.
39:58Because it's true.
40:01Woo!
40:07Aw.
40:24That he looks so good!
40:27That this one's Guys.
40:32It's Performance, man
40:33We're a show!
40:33I all official members of this, is my shop!
40:35Watch me do my thing!
40:38Have a great week of the game!
40:42That's awesome!
40:44Hmm!
40:49It's It!
40:50Hands, threads.
