00:00he did a year ago all right jt yeah we'll see how seth does how about cole davies we did
00:05some math
00:05for you uh coming into tonight's event up against the superstars hayden deegan jet lawrence where
00:12is he in comparison to those two after four races in their sophomore season have a look at this he
00:18leads four of the five categories so when you watch cole davies when you hear us talk about
00:25cole davies this kid is off to a flyer in his career he sure is he's a lot of fun
00:30to watch
00:30250 east division he won here in detroit let's go and he gets a flyer on the inside good start
00:38davies
00:40that's his teammate though the rookie done he slips up the inside nice work really nice work from him
00:46and romano romano got away to a great start aboard the kawasaki and this for kanan is a nice comeback
00:54because he had a pretty hard fall earlier today well he did and we were down there on the track
00:58track side i should say when he went down and it was a really hard crash at the end of
01:03the whoops glad
01:04to see he's back up and running i want to talk about the number 141 and nick romano he gets
01:09a call
01:09from that monster energy pro circuit kawasaki team mitch payton and the crew to fill in for uh drew adams
01:17who is injured healing up what an incredible opportunity for this young man an incredible
01:23opportunity for kate and dudney as well because he got the big promotion he got the big call up
01:28after running in smx next but he's found a tough going in the mains he's yet to crack the top
01:3410
01:34as he leads this heat well just going back to romano there lee and ricky it was incredible the ride
01:40that
01:41he got but he told me that he kept himself in the best shape of his life without a ride
01:46his agent jimmy
01:47button they were putting out the calls asking trying to sort of get a filling spot where they
01:51could and he said look worst case scenario i'm in the best shape of my life best case scenario i'm
01:56ready when a ride comes and it has come you said he was on drew adams bike there also ricky
02:01with his
02:02settings this week this past week testing he said this is tailored now more to him and his expectations
02:07are higher coming in here tonight yeah i would agree with that too and how he is riding right now
02:12i
02:12mean this is a kid who's had an unbelievable amateur career he showed some speed and some promise
02:17but uh man it is so great to see him track is fresh right now and hey the rookie dudney
02:24out
02:24there making it happen all right watch third place all in red there here comes cole davies
02:29he will not be enjoying seeing his teammate out in front nor nick romano
02:35and how about joe shimota bottom box joe's got some work to do he's buried down at seven and that's
02:41a rare position for joe to be and rarely do you see him get a bad start like that he
02:47is so consistent
02:48in his starts has been all season
02:53looking a little further down the order behind casey cochran who makes his return to racing we'll
02:58talk more about him in a moment he's behind luke cloud and then you've got luca marsilisi he is the
03:04only triumph rider in this 250 east division here in detroit so he's off to a terrific start as well
03:16quick reminder you see that qr code bottom left of your screen scan that qr code your chance to win
03:22an
03:23360 camera it's fast it's easy scan now enter the win yeah fast those things are so cool the 360
03:29around
03:29i use them a lot of my adventure rides that i go to you guys got to check them out
03:33great there goes joe
03:34shimota bottom box past marsilisi so joe's made progress meanwhile look at the top three in the top box
03:40dunney romano davies let's talk more about the race leader jt yeah it's just an interesting dynamic
03:48here you think about cayden dunney's leading out front he was a graduate of that smx next class
03:53just this year nick romano used to be on monster yamaha star racing that's where that break came in
03:59and then you have another graduate of the smx next a year and a half ago in cold davies so
04:04all three of
04:05these riders have spent their time on monster yamaha star racing and all three of them were stars
04:09in the amateur ranks just a few short years ago hey massive shout out to dudney and romano right now
04:16okay we just talked about how awesome you saw those stats that cole davies is doing how well
04:20he's doing look at this game right now but look at joe trying to make a move by what did
04:26that be
04:26cochran yep perfect straight up the inside as simple as the corners that seems around that right-handed
04:33sweeping turn you can make up a lot of ground really trusting the bike mechanically there
04:39to get the job done for you and get some help nice comeback by joe next one on joe's list
04:44is
04:46the kawasaki mounted rider luke clout keep your eye on this section right here where joe is at some
04:51guys electing to go over over that tabletop over a huge single then triple out the thing it is so
04:57hard to get over that single and if you don't you flip your back tire you have a high risk
05:02of going
05:02over the handlebars off that nice jump so make sure you keep your eye out there all night long had
05:07a
05:07good chat with luke yesterday he said he's been struggling with his starts so he'll be much more
05:11pleased with this to be running in the top four look at this nick romano cole davies positions have
05:17not changed again a testament to how well these two guys are riding i i for sure thought that cole
05:25davies
05:25would have made the move by now just with how fast he was early today in practice look at but
05:32there he
05:32misses the rhythm lane right there and those guys just pull out a lot of lead
05:40i mean jt you're watching davies what are you thinking right now yeah well you know i'm wondering
05:46ricky if it's really a product of the track being so fresh you know we know davies has this big
05:52advantage in the whoops but if the whoops are brand new there's really no edge to be had look how
05:57quick those guys are going oh that's a massive crash from cayton dudney that's where he went down
06:03earlier today but on the other side of the whoops yeah very very hard crash but he was extremely lucky
06:10to roll out he didn't come to a complete stop and like lee said that is exactly where he fell
06:16in practice if you could imagine what you just saw there what he how he went down in practice was
06:21way worse glad to see him back up hustling but everything is good bike starts hopping left to
06:28right feet come off the foot pegs down he goes oh boy and just like that cole davies has got
06:36by nick
06:36romano and there's a different monster energy star yamaha bike out in front things happen quick right
06:43here romano may have had slowed down or was distracted by watching dudney crash but talk about these whoops he
06:51had a huge advantage in the qualifying practices and the whoops were a bit bigger and i think over
06:57time and as the smx track crew have worked on these whoops they flattened out a little bit so
07:02maybe davies doesn't have the advantage like he had early on in practice and you see joe shimota has
07:08elevated himself to third that's because luke clout went down right in front of him and has dropped outside
07:14the transfer zone jeremy hand is in that all-important ninth and final position this track is really sticky
07:22here tonight the rhythm lanes and the ruts are kind of pulling these riders from one side of the track
07:28to the other i heard hunter lawrence talking about it after practice going to be difficult davies looks
07:34very calm he looks like he's cruising this is well and truly in his control heat waiting for cole davies
07:40championship leader starts the night the right way well done nick romano he went to the lcq last week
07:46fabulous so to go straight through tonight well done to him big gap back to shimota here comes the honda
07:51hrc progressive rider that's a good comeback for him wow great uh great for kate and dudney to get back
07:59up and still finish fourth and so casey cochran here is that pass that we missed while we were focused
08:06on
08:06kate and dudney's crash you see that but romano over jumped the first jump of the rhythm and he got
08:12off sequence oh contact by davies and romano cole has a quick look around to say what was that anyway
08:20nonetheless another win to cole davies
