00:00:23Hello, baseball fans, and welcome.
00:00:25We've got open-air baseball for you on the show.
00:00:29It's the New York Yankees taking on the Giants.
00:00:32Along with Chris Singleton, I'm John Chompey.
00:00:35Seeing you, one of the stories in this one is a highly anticipated Major League debut,
00:00:39and all eyes will be on him as he gets the start of the mound.
00:00:43I love watching pitching debuts at this level because there's no waiting around to see the
00:00:48rookie in action.
00:00:49You get thrown right into the deep end of the Major League pool.
00:00:53He's center stage from the first inning on, so like you said, Boog, there's no hiding
00:00:57at all.
00:00:58There's a ton of excitement about this kid's future, and he's about to face the best lineup
00:01:02of his life, so I'm excited to see how he attacks it.
00:01:05All right, we'll be back to get this one started after this.
00:01:14Just about set to go now, and towing the slab here, Willie Howell.
00:01:19It's a tough veteran lineup on the other side, but I'm excited to see what this rookie can
00:01:24do in this one.
00:01:31So just about set now, and stepping in for the Yankees, Derek Jeter.
00:01:36Leading off the afternoon for the Yankees, the number two.
00:01:40The pitch.
00:01:44That misses the zone, and we're underway here this afternoon.
00:01:51First pitch, 135.
00:01:55The wind of the pitch.
00:01:58That misses, and that's ball two.
00:02:02That's what you want.
00:02:02It's a good miss.
00:02:18Swing and a line drive.
00:02:20Base hit out of the center field, and the leadoff man aboard.
00:02:28Joe DiMaggio stepping in now for the Yankees, a guy who makes an impact not just at the plate,
00:02:35but also in the field.
00:02:36First pitch doesn't find the zone.
00:02:53Just missed.
00:02:54Good speed on the base pass.
00:02:56He handles the bat very well.
00:02:59I wouldn't be surprised if the skipper puts on some type of hit and run or run and hit.
00:03:05And the righty deals.
00:03:08And there's a base hitter to left.
00:03:11Lead runner to second.
00:03:13It's a two on and nobody out.
00:03:15These guys today are so great with handling velocity.
00:03:17They're seeing high speeds day after day, and a nice job of turning that one around.
00:03:24And stepping in for the Yankees, Babe Ruth, just two for 11 in the series so far.
00:03:32In there for strike one.
00:04:02And a foul ball.
00:04:03He stays alive.
00:04:13The 0-2
00:04:16stays alive.
00:04:30Next one misses.
00:04:32One and two to count.
00:04:33This guy's a fun guy to watch taking it bad.
00:04:35He just battles up there.
00:04:37He doesn't take a pitch off at all.
00:04:39Makes it so difficult on the pitchers out there.
00:04:41You can tell they get frustrated with him.
00:04:44Off-balance feed.
00:04:45There's one.
00:04:46Double play.
00:04:47That was some defensive wizardry.
00:04:53That is cool.
00:04:55The first base.
00:04:55Number four.
00:04:58Lou Gehrig.
00:05:02Now here's the Yankees cleanup hitter.
00:05:04Lou Gehrig.
00:05:06It's been such a good hitter with runners in scoring position.
00:05:09Some guys just take it to another level.
00:05:11For him right now at the plate, it's like everyone else is in slow motion, and he's in full speed.
00:05:18First off ring misses the mark.
00:05:20Well, he's so great about hitting the ball the other way.
00:05:23He gets those arms extended.
00:05:25So right there, just trying to straighten him up a little bit so he doesn't have as much outside plate
00:05:29coverage.
00:05:31The next off ring misses.
00:05:32And that's ball two.
00:05:34No score yet, but a runner at third with two away.
00:05:52Here's a 2-1.
00:05:54And there's a ball.
00:05:55Get ready for some action here.
00:05:57Good RBI guy at the plate.
00:05:58Runners in scoring position.
00:06:00And a hitter's count.
00:06:07The pitch.
00:06:09Inside corner for a strike.
00:06:11Now 3-2.
00:06:12That was absolute gas.
00:06:14Triple digits on the gun.
00:06:15It's just a different experience as a hitter watching that go by.
00:06:19Foul off again.
00:06:20And it remains 3-2.
00:06:25Cheater on third with two out.
00:06:31The 3-2 is off the outside edge, and that is ball four.
00:06:35I don't think he really wanted to pitch to him right there anyhow.
00:06:39That was good.
00:06:41The center fielder.
00:06:42Mickey.
00:06:44Two gone with runners at the corners.
00:06:46Now it's the switch hitting outfielder, Mickey Mantle.
00:06:49Kind of a throwback.
00:06:50No batting gloves.
00:06:52That hits the dirt, and that's ball one.
00:07:02Runners on first and third.
00:07:05Two away.
00:07:10Next pitch is outside.
00:07:12Tough spot right here.
00:07:13A couple runners on.
00:07:14Two ball count.
00:07:15You can't nibble, but you have to execute and finish your pitch.
00:07:19If you leave something out over the plate, it's going to bring in some runs.
00:07:25Next offer is in for a strike.
00:07:35Just off the outside edge.
00:07:48At the belt and fires.
00:07:50The right-hander gives up the two-out walk.
00:07:53Now that sets up a really big at-bat in this game.
00:07:56These are the moments when everyone in the stadium gets really locked in.
00:08:00So two down.
00:08:02Now it's the power-speed combo.
00:08:04Reggie Jackson.
00:08:05This guy with light-tower power.
00:08:08And the first pitch misses for ball one.
00:08:23And that's him for a strike.
00:08:25Out there on the mound, he's setting the tone early with the fastball.
00:08:2998 miles per hour up on the scoreboard.
00:08:33Bases loaded.
00:08:34Two down.
00:08:40Next offering is down low.
00:08:43But in situations like these, the air can get really thin up there at the plate.
00:08:47Got to find a way to breathe and slow everything down.
00:08:56The pitch.
00:08:58Way out front for strike two.
00:09:01He's gone off speed.
00:09:02He needs to elevate here with two strikes out of the zone.
00:09:11Two-two now.
00:09:13Swing and miss.
00:09:15And that is that.
00:09:18And the Yankees leave it loaded.
00:09:21We'll go to the bottom of the first.
00:09:22Zero-zero.
00:09:33Bottom of the first.
00:09:35And today's starter, Red Ruffing.
00:09:37Chris, how did the scouting report?
00:09:39There's always a bit of a learning curve for rookie pitchers.
00:09:42You've got to get familiar with these big league hitters.
00:09:44And it's more of a chess match.
00:09:45But I think this kid's got good stuff and the potential to be great.
00:09:52Bottom of the first.
00:09:53Here's the rookie third baseman.
00:09:55Number 64.
00:09:58And the pitch.
00:10:04On the ground right side.
00:10:07One gone bottom half of the first.
00:10:14Let's take a look at our lineup.
00:10:29Salt next.
00:10:31Number 13.
00:10:36First pitch doesn't find the zone.
00:10:49Kicks and deals.
00:10:52And foul off.
00:11:02And the pitch.
00:11:06Fault off.
00:11:07Foul.
00:11:15The wide end of the pitch.
00:11:19Bounced out to short.
00:11:20On the run.
00:11:22Sent it over to first.
00:11:23Two up, two down.
00:11:28Batting third.
00:11:30The first baseman.
00:11:31Number nine.
00:11:34Number nine.
00:11:35The next to hit.
00:11:43First off.
00:11:44Ring.
00:11:45Misses the mark.
00:11:53And that one pulled foul.
00:12:04Two outs.
00:12:07And another ball.
00:12:17Next pitch is downstairs.
00:12:29Two down.
00:12:30Nobody on.
00:12:33Fouls one away.
00:12:35And now three and two.
00:12:42And a pitch.
00:12:46Swag and a miss.
00:12:47The velocity.
00:12:48Blasted it right past him.
00:12:51Scoreless after one.
00:13:04Top of the second.
00:13:06Here's a speed threat.
00:13:07Alex Rodriguez.
00:13:09When you talk about elite defensive third baseman.
00:13:12This guy is at the top of the list.
00:13:15Howell.
00:13:16Back to work.
00:13:18Ball one there.
00:13:28Swings and misses.
00:13:30And a count one and one.
00:13:47One and two.
00:13:48Really consistent release point.
00:13:51He's been able to pitch up and down.
00:13:52And have excellent command at both locations.
00:13:56Righty to the plate.
00:14:00And a swing and a miss.
00:14:01And now one away.
00:14:03Tell you what.
00:14:04Those are the types of guys pitchers really like to punch out when they're on the mound.
00:14:07Because if they get on.
00:14:09Just the distraction that they create with all that speed over on the base pass.
00:14:14It can take away your focus from the next hitter.
00:14:17And that's the last thing you want to do.
00:14:18Is serve up a pitch that a guy hits over the fence.
00:14:21And it's a multi-run home run.
00:14:24Stepping in.
00:14:25Number 31.
00:14:27And the first pitch misses for ball one.
00:14:29Come on.
00:14:30Okay.
00:14:31Okay.
00:14:32Okay.
00:14:43And that's outside.
00:14:45Clyde Washington with home plate duties in this one.
00:14:47A little bit of a low zone move from Clyde.
00:14:50Nothing crazy though.
00:14:51Pitchers that work consistently down around the knees.
00:14:54And are able to command their off-speed stuff.
00:14:56Tend to have some pretty good success with him back there behind the plate.
00:15:01The 2-0 is in for a strike.
00:15:03What about some no-nos?
00:15:05Like you can't call the umpire blue the way you do in little league or high school, right?
00:15:10Yeah.
00:15:11Even in the minor leagues, you'll learn quickly.
00:15:13You call the umpire blue.
00:15:15You better learn his name.
00:15:16And that's just part of being a professional player and even a major league player.
00:15:20Left-hand hitter waits.
00:15:24Swing and a miss.
00:15:26And he struck him out.
00:15:27That's out number two.
00:15:29Back-to-back strikeouts to start the frame.
00:15:32And that's now three in a row.
00:15:33Yeah.
00:15:34He's really settling in and getting a feel for his pitches.
00:15:37Throwing them where he wants to right now.
00:15:39So we'll see how long he can keep this streak going.
00:15:42Now batting Robinson Cano.
00:15:44And the first offering is not close.
00:15:54No score here on the second.
00:16:01Next pitch misses.
00:16:03And it's 2-0.
00:16:10And a swing and a miss.
00:16:12Bringing the cheese on that one.
00:16:26The 2-1.
00:16:30There's a strike.
00:16:49And now the count filled up three and two.
00:16:58Swing and a miss.
00:16:59Struck him out.
00:17:00And that will end the inning.
00:17:04Impeccable command in that one.
00:17:06Three batters.
00:17:07Three strikeouts.
00:17:08That's electric stuff out there on the mound.
00:17:26Here on the south side.
00:17:28And now the center fielder.
00:17:29Number 14.
00:17:33And the right hander back to work.
00:17:37That's a strike.
00:17:38And it's 0-1.
00:17:39Not sure if he was expected for the pitcher to come right at him.
00:17:42But he got a nice cookie there.
00:17:44And just watched it the entire way.
00:17:48You won.
00:17:52Now wanted a one.
00:17:53Had some cut action to it.
00:17:55Velocity pretty good on that slider.
00:17:57So far moving the ball around nicely.
00:18:00Next offering is in for a strike.
00:18:02Good pitch down around the knees.
00:18:04You want to be there all game.
00:18:05In a park like this.
00:18:06A pop-up sometimes will carry out.
00:18:20Swing and a miss.
00:18:21And he's down on strikes.
00:18:23And one away.
00:18:25I love to see guys compete.
00:18:26And I know he's frustrated that he wasn't able to do anything with that pitch.
00:18:29You see it so well.
00:18:31But you have to respect the upper 90s velocity.
00:18:34And it is hard to catch up to.
00:18:39Here's the rookie right fielder.
00:18:41Number 15.
00:18:46Pitch misses inside.
00:18:48Ball one.
00:18:56Nothing, nothing here at the bottom of the second.
00:19:03Next offering is foul bat.
00:19:12Here's a 1-1.
00:19:15Good eye right there.
00:19:21One down base is empty.
00:19:26He never moved because he never had time to.
00:19:29But that kind of velocity, you'd prefer that pitch to work away.
00:19:33Kicks and fires.
00:19:37Up the middle.
00:19:40In time to Gehrig.
00:19:42Already two out here in the home half of inning number two.
00:19:46The designated hitter.
00:19:48Cover blue.
00:19:51Two outs, space is empty.
00:19:52Number 40.
00:19:53Now at the plate.
00:20:02And that's in there for strike one.
00:20:04If he doesn't get a knock right here, that pitch he just took is going to eat at him for
00:20:08a while.
00:20:09You might not see another pitch like that from a top-level guy like this.
00:20:17And it's even up.
00:20:22Right-hander kicks, steals.
00:20:26And that's through there for a strike.
00:20:28That big curve inside is a pitch that can buckle you a little bit.
00:20:33It looks like a fastball out of hand, and it just drops over that inside part of the plate.
00:20:37Mantle on the move.
00:20:40And makes the play, and that's out number three.
00:20:43We'll move to the third with no score.
00:20:55New inning getting started.
00:20:56Now here is Derek Jeter.
00:21:00It's good speed at the top of the order here.
00:21:02You want to get it on, see if you can get a stolen base, maybe get around the bases, and
00:21:07pick up a run.
00:21:08Next pitch is popped up.
00:21:11Makes the grab one down.
00:21:16The bat, number five.
00:21:18Designated hitter, Joe.
00:21:21In now is the Yankees DH, Joe DiMaggio.
00:21:32First pitch, and he just misses.
00:21:38Righty delivers.
00:21:41That one missing inside.
00:21:44That's a pitch early in this game.
00:21:45He's called for a strike, struggling with command issues.
00:21:49He's got to get a little help from the umpire.
00:21:55On the line, base hit.
00:21:57So they get a man aboard with a one-out single.
00:22:03Well, that was one of those high-percentage advantage counts where batting averages are just so much higher.
00:22:08I could watch base hits like that one all day long, and so could every hitting coach in the league.
00:22:13Just a nice line drive in the center field.
00:22:16And stepping in for the Yankees, Babe Ruth.
00:22:20Runner on the goal.
00:22:22And at first off, Rang is fouled off.
00:22:33And the right-hater deals.
00:22:36This one in the dirt.
00:22:39No advance.
00:22:40Good job behind the dish.
00:22:48And he deals.
00:22:58Dimashio, the base runner, first with one out.
00:23:05Next pitch is outside.
00:23:17And here it comes.
00:23:20On the ground, the first.
00:23:21Could be two.
00:23:22They get one.
00:23:23And they bounce into two already.
00:23:25This one ends the third.
00:23:27We move on to the bottom of inning number three.
00:23:30We're tied.
00:23:31Nothing, nothing.
00:23:41Ready to go for the last half of the inning.
00:23:44And stepping in, the rookie left fielder, Davis.
00:23:47No left fielder.
00:23:48No left fielder.
00:23:51Roughing.
00:23:52Back to work.
00:23:54Swings and pulls a foul to the right side.
00:24:05The line of the pitch.
00:24:09The line of the pitch.
00:24:09They say it went.
00:24:22And one and two.
00:24:23And one and two.
00:24:24And one and two.
00:24:46And now it's still up.
00:24:49And now it's still up.
00:25:02Line drive.
00:25:05Can't get there.
00:25:06And now maybe extra bases.
00:25:08The throw in.
00:25:09Not going to get.
00:25:11He's in there.
00:25:12You've got to get on your horse.
00:25:13Get to that thing and get it back in.
00:25:15Because he's going to come barrel around first.
00:25:17He's going to put pressure on you.
00:25:19If you bubble it or you don't get there in a hurry, he's going to make you look silly and
00:25:22end up on second base.
00:25:28And stepping in is the speedy number 32.
00:25:32Tracking it to the second baseman.
00:25:36Number 32.
00:25:42Foul ball.
00:25:43After the loss yesterday afternoon where they really didn't ever get things going on offense, I think this is an
00:25:48important opportunity right here to pick up an early run.
00:26:14That's the second out.
00:26:25Batting nut.
00:26:27Look at this.
00:26:28Yeah.
00:26:30Wow.
00:26:32Two outs.
00:26:32Base is empty.
00:26:33So here's Brown at the plate.
00:26:35Good contact guy.
00:26:37Good defender.
00:26:45And the first pitch misses in the dirt.
00:26:51Keks and deals.
00:26:55Up the middle.
00:26:56It's through for a hit.
00:26:58So now back to the top of the order.
00:27:05Just kept it simple.
00:27:06Played pepper with the middle of the infield and took it back where it came from.
00:27:09And there's just no one there to knock it down.
00:27:12Number 64 will hit next.
00:27:22First pitch doesn't find the zone.
00:27:25One ball.
00:27:26One ball.
00:27:40At the belt and fires.
00:27:44That's a base hit.
00:27:46So that's two straight, two out hits.
00:27:49Throw in, holds the lead runner at second.
00:27:52Two on now with two away.
00:27:54Two consecutive base hits for these guys here.
00:27:57Solid swing from start to end.
00:27:59On time of everything.
00:28:00Really good balance.
00:28:01Nice extension.
00:28:02And he met it out front for the line drive knock.
00:28:05Runner in scoring position now.
00:28:06And a good opportunity to push across the first run of the ball game.
00:28:09Next offering is down low.
00:28:11And that's ball one.
00:28:18Bell, the best way to shake off yesterday's struggles is to get on the board early.
00:28:22They've got a guy in scoring position.
00:28:24They've got to find a way here to get him in.
00:28:27Two on, two outs.
00:28:30And a foul ball.
00:28:48The 1-1.
00:28:50And he takes a strike.
00:29:04High in the air, out to right.
00:29:06Jackson makes the play.
00:29:08And that's the inning.
00:29:10On to the fourth.
00:29:10Still scores.
00:29:22Welcome back.
00:29:23Here's a big power threat.
00:29:24Luke Erick.
00:29:25Leading off of the game.
00:29:27The first baseman, number four.
00:29:29The right-hander back to work.
00:29:330-1.
00:29:34He's pitching well, but not throwing a ton of first pitch strikes.
00:29:37Usually doesn't work out for success, but he can never predict baseball.
00:29:43Slap the other way.
00:29:44Foul.
00:29:53And a pitch.
00:29:57And takes low for ball one.
00:30:06And a one-two misses to even the count.
00:30:12The line of the pitch.
00:30:16And a foul ball.
00:30:17He stays alive.
00:30:27All righty deals.
00:30:31And a swing and a miss.
00:30:33And there's one down.
00:30:34But that kind of velocity and elevated fastball, even if it's still in the strike zone, can be tough for
00:30:40hitters to get on top of.
00:30:41Mickey.
00:30:46Mickey Mantle digs in now.
00:30:48Worked a walk in his first trip to the plate.
00:30:53Next pitch downstairs.
00:30:55And that is ball one.
00:31:10Smash to the left side.
00:31:11And it goes just foul.
00:31:19But why to kick the pitch?
00:31:23So, a foul ball makes it one and two.
00:31:36Good eye right there.
00:31:38Good purpose pitch right there.
00:31:40Trying to tease him, get him to raise his sights, pop something up, and make it an easy out.
00:31:47opportunity.
00:31:48Righty delivers.
00:31:51Pulls out one foul.
00:32:08Next pitch is popped up.
00:32:12And there's two down.
00:32:17Up next for the Yankees, the right viewer, Reggie Jackson.
00:32:24Two outs, base is empty.
00:32:26And now Reggie Jackson.
00:32:28Got to be careful with this guy.
00:32:30He's got power.
00:32:31He can untie it with one swing.
00:32:37First offering, misses the mark.
00:32:44The pitch.
00:32:49That's a base hit.
00:32:50And that extends the inning.
00:32:58Nice line drive to the full side, met it out front, but just stayed through it nice enough
00:33:03and ripped it into the outfield.
00:33:07Alex Rodriguez stepping in now for the Yankees.
00:33:13In there, and it's all in one.
00:33:27The pitch.
00:33:44Pick off loop to first.
00:33:46Jackson back in on a dive.
00:33:55Two outs, Reggie on the run.
00:33:58Swing and a miss.
00:34:00Throw the second, and then letting in.
00:34:03Well, trying to get in the scoring position, but a great catch and throw to end the inning.
00:34:07That's the way to pick up the pitcher.
00:34:14Ready to go, bottom four.
00:34:17Stepping in the long ball, threat number nine.
00:34:20Now the right-hander ready to go.
00:34:23Still no score.
00:34:24There's a strike.
00:34:25And I know you want to be patient as a hitter, but you got to be ready to jump on
00:34:29the first thing straight.
00:34:31And he got one right there, but left the bat on his shoulder.
00:34:33The next pitch misses, one and one.
00:34:42Up the middle.
00:34:43Loves it on the dive.
00:34:44Throw to first, and that's a great play for the out.
00:34:47Well, this is obviously a tremendous play, but for me, it starts with a well-broken aim of law.
00:34:52They have the confidence to go down, knowing that ball's going to be right in the pocket.
00:34:56So you've got a clean transfer, pop back up to the feet, and fire across the diamond.
00:35:01Outstanding job.
00:35:02Number 14, getting ready to hit.
00:35:07That one's in there, all in one.
00:35:21And a pitch.
00:35:24And that one fouled off.
00:35:33And a pitch.
00:35:37Good eye on that spot.
00:35:39Really good take, especially with two strikes.
00:35:45The punch out there, and there's two away.
00:35:48All that high four-seam fastball has become such a great pitch for pitchers to finish hitters off.
00:35:55They're trying to stay back with two strikes, make sure that they can handle something off-speed.
00:36:00And just with good spin rate, good rotation through the zone, elevate it a little bit, get a lot of
00:36:05swings and misses.
00:36:06And that's a really nice job right there.
00:36:09Now, here is number 15.
00:36:12Pitch misses inside.
00:36:141-0.
00:36:28On the ground right side, whips it to first.
00:36:33That ends the inning.
00:36:35Through four, still tied.
00:36:38Zip, zip.
00:36:49We go to the top of the fifth.
00:36:51Here's some real power at the plate.
00:36:53Alex Rodriguez.
00:36:55The third baseman.
00:36:56Alex Rodriguez.
00:36:59The wind of the pitch.
00:37:03There's a strike.
00:37:12Next pitch inside, and the count is one and one.
00:37:22There's a swing and a miss.
00:37:27And a pitch.
00:37:31That one misses.
00:37:33Two and two.
00:37:34Recognize that changeup right out of the hand.
00:37:36Just spit on it.
00:38:02Next offering misses, and the count is filled up.
00:38:13The pitch.
00:38:16And there's ball four.
00:38:20Oh, very close with the location right there.
00:38:22It's just tough to get rewarded on the call with pitches near the top of the strike zone.
00:38:26And now the catcher comes up to hit number 31.
00:38:30This guy, one of the best defensive catchers going.
00:38:33You talk about framing, the ability to block, catch, and throw.
00:38:37Oh, he is at the top of the game.
00:38:39First pitch, and that's in for a strike.
00:38:44Nobody out.
00:38:45Runner at first.
00:38:49Check on the runner.
00:38:51Rodriguez.
00:38:51Dives back in safely.
00:38:59Dives back in safely.
00:39:00Right into the play.
00:39:03With two strikes.
00:39:05May see some movement over there at first base.
00:39:07Trying to stay out of a double play here.
00:39:09Next one misses.
00:39:11It's a ball and two strikes.
00:39:24That one drifts inside.
00:39:40And it's filled up.
00:39:42So, here we go.
00:39:43Base runner at first.
00:39:44Could be running on the pitch.
00:39:45He's got good enough speed to steal the bag and get in scoring position,
00:39:48even if it's a swing and miss at the plate.
00:39:53Kicks and fires.
00:39:54Kicks and fires.
00:39:56Popped up.
00:39:58No trouble here.
00:40:00Puts it away for the out.
00:40:02One away.
00:40:05The bat.
00:40:07The second baseman.
00:40:08Robinson Cano.
00:40:11And stepping in for the Yankees, Robinson Cano.
00:40:30First pitch.
00:40:32Just misses.
00:40:41Left-hand hitter waits.
00:41:01That pitch in for a strike.
00:41:03And a count.
00:41:04One and two.
00:41:09And here it comes.
00:41:12Got him.
00:41:13Now he's down on strikes for the second time today.
00:41:16Foot gets talked about a lot, but a good high fastball in a two-strike situation,
00:41:21it's just become such a problem for hitters in more recent years.
00:41:26With all the emphasis by pitchers on developing that spin rate, having a good grip on the baseball,
00:41:31those high fastballs, they kind of look like to the hitter that they're rising, even though
00:41:36they're not, but they're not decreasing in velocity and spin rate.
00:41:39So very difficult to get the barrel on it.
00:41:42Cheater.
00:41:42In the box again.
00:41:44Takes the strike.
00:41:54First offering, runner goes.
00:41:56Pitch misses.
00:41:57Throw to second.
00:41:58Out at second.
00:42:00That ends the inning.
00:42:02Halfway through this one, still no score.
00:42:05These days people say a lot of things that they want to do.
00:42:08Things that they want to do.
00:42:09Man, what you gonna do?
00:42:11What you gonna do, man?
00:42:12What you gonna do?
00:42:15And welcome back.
00:42:16We head to the bottom of the fifth.
00:42:18Now it's the DH, number 40.
00:42:21This guy makes great contact.
00:42:23One of the best in the game at putting bat on ball.
00:42:26He's got such quick hands, and he's gaining pitch recognition.
00:42:29That keeps him square to the plate.
00:42:31There's a good chance that his bat stays in the zone a long time,
00:42:34and that produces solid contact consistently.
00:42:39Left field, way back there.
00:42:42And it hits the fence.
00:42:46Relay throw to second.
00:42:48Not in time.
00:42:49He's got a double.
00:42:51That'll make you feel good as a hitter right there.
00:42:53This was a really nice swing.
00:42:55Didn't quite get enough behind it to get it out of here,
00:42:57but once it got over his head in left field,
00:42:59there was extra bases all the way.
00:43:01A chance now to take the lead, and at this point in the game,
00:43:04that could be a deciding run.
00:43:09Next to hit, Davis.
00:43:11And the first pitch misses for ball one.
00:43:21No outs.
00:43:22Runner on second.
00:43:31Next offering upstairs.
00:43:33Looks like he's being a little cautious with him in this at bat
00:43:35after doubling the first time up.
00:43:37Doesn't want to make another mistake.
00:43:50Just a weak fly ball this time.
00:43:54And that one gets down.
00:43:56Fair ball to second, but way too late.
00:43:59Safe there.
00:44:00Always feels amazing getting a job done
00:44:02when a team needs you to come through.
00:44:04It's just bigger than your own individual stats.
00:44:07It's a blue pit behind third right there,
00:44:09and that's a really tough play for a third baseman
00:44:11or shortstop to get to,
00:44:13and the same for the left fielder.
00:44:14So he just found the perfect place
00:44:16to drop that one in right there.
00:44:17Now at the plate, number 32.
00:44:20And that's in there for strike one.
00:44:38And the right-hater deals.
00:44:40Here's the pitch.
00:44:41It's a double steal.
00:44:42And there's a base hit.
00:44:45And they strike first as they take a 1-0 lead.
00:44:49Well, they strike first as he gets the job done
00:44:51and it's time to bring home the run.
00:44:53Nice job of driving that pitch the other way on a line.
00:44:56You know, hitters, they take so many reps in the cages,
00:44:58working on a door to the opposite field,
00:45:00and it doesn't always translate into the game,
00:45:02but right there it did, and he did it perfectly.
00:45:04And now they've got some speed on first,
00:45:06so we'll see if they try to get him into motion.
00:45:09Here's the catcher, Jim Brown.
00:45:11He's already singled in this game.
00:45:17First pitch doesn't find the zone.
00:45:19Well, he's just giving up three straight hits,
00:45:21and now behind in this count to this hitter.
00:45:24Might be a good time for somebody to call a timeout.
00:45:26Maybe the pitching coach go out there
00:45:27and talk to him just a little bit.
00:45:29Number 25, the runner at third.
00:45:32Number 32, on at first with the way out.
00:45:38Next offering is in for a strike.
00:45:41Well, we call that key-holing.
00:45:43Even though it's right there and looks pretty good,
00:45:45if he doesn't love it,
00:45:46he's not going to swing that early in the count.
00:45:58Swing and a miss.
00:45:59That's strike two.
00:46:00Well, in this situation with a runner on first,
00:46:03less than two outs,
00:46:04some say, hey, get the ground ball,
00:46:06double play with two strikes.
00:46:08Some people say get the strikeout.
00:46:10I think you just execute your pitch,
00:46:12make the best pitch you possibly can,
00:46:13and let the result be whatever it's going to be.
00:46:19To third, Rodriguez.
00:46:22Off-balance beat.
00:46:23Here's one.
00:46:24To first, save.
00:46:25It's a fielder's choice and an RBI.
00:46:33Number 64, the next to hit.
00:46:48In there for a strike one.
00:46:50This guy absolutely flies.
00:46:52The defense wants to turn two,
00:46:53but they've got to get a ball they can do it with.
00:46:56Make sure you get the first out
00:46:57before you try to rush and get two
00:46:59and end up with nothing.
00:47:02And he deals.
00:47:17And delivers outside.
00:47:30That misses the zone.
00:47:31And the count is three and a one.
00:47:51Left-hand batter waits.
00:47:53Ground ball right side.
00:47:54Could be two.
00:47:55Over to second for one.
00:47:57On to first, double play.
00:47:58And that's the inning.
00:47:59Five innings complete.
00:48:01The Giants with the lead.
00:48:03Two to nothing.
00:48:14Back at guaranteed rate field.
00:48:16Start of the sixth,
00:48:17John Chomby with Chris Singleton.
00:48:18And leading off,
00:48:20Derek the cheater.
00:48:21Derek the cheater.
00:48:35The line of the pitch.
00:48:38That one's in there.
00:48:40That's strike one.
00:48:41Well, after putting up a nice inning on offense,
00:48:43got some runs across.
00:48:44This is where you look for the starter to go out there,
00:48:47have a shutdown inning.
00:48:48Don't give that other team any hope.
00:48:50But you just hope that he can get through this inning,
00:48:52get the bats back up there while they're hot.
00:48:54Comes up empty on the swing.
00:48:56Going two now.
00:48:57All game long,
00:48:58he's really done a great job of keeping these hitters guessing.
00:49:01You've got to play with that front foot.
00:49:03He's done exactly that,
00:49:04keeping them off balance.
00:49:08And that one's sliced foul.
00:49:11Clearly trying to stay back a little bit longer for that change up
00:49:14as he fouls that fastball back.
00:49:17Right in or kicks deals.
00:49:21And misses inside.
00:49:30Got him.
00:49:32Picks up strikeout number seven.
00:49:34Well, that curveball has a pretty good break to it.
00:49:36As you can see,
00:49:37the hitter just locked up a little bit.
00:49:39Thought it was a great pitch to hit,
00:49:40but sometimes you're looking for something else,
00:49:42and you can't pull the trigger.
00:49:47Joe DiMaggio stepping in now for the Yankees.
00:49:53That one's in there, all in one.
00:50:10And that's downstairs and outside.
00:50:12Talk about the right guy at the right spot.
00:50:14They really need a rally,
00:50:15and this guy is someone you can believe in
00:50:17to find a way to get on base.
00:50:22Next offering is in for a strike.
00:50:28Here comes the pitch.
00:50:32Ripped on a line.
00:50:35Can't get there.
00:50:36Base hit.
00:50:41Clearly seeing the ball very well in this one.
00:50:43A lot of hitters tell themselves,
00:50:44line drive over the infielder's head.
00:50:46That's what I'm trying to do.
00:50:47Just keep that approach simple.
00:50:48And right there,
00:50:49it was perfectly executed.
00:50:51On time with everything,
00:50:53and pulled it into the gap nicely.
00:50:55Babe Ruth stepping in now for the Yankees.
00:51:01First pitch, not close.
00:51:03Now just about to hit that century mark.
00:51:05Mark a hundred pitches for this game.
00:51:18Next pitch is inside,
00:51:20and the count is 2-0.
00:51:29Kick, San Diego's.
00:51:31That one hit to right.
00:51:33Number 15 has a beat on it.
00:51:36And it's 2-down.
00:51:43The first baseman, number four, moves.
00:51:47So now the Yankees' cleanup hitter, Lou Gehrig.
00:51:56Throw to first, and he's back in easily.
00:52:10First pitch, and that's in for a strike.
00:52:12Movement in the bullpen.
00:52:14Number 27 getting loose out there.
00:52:16Number 28 warming up as well.
00:52:27This one in the air center field.
00:52:30Number 14 drifts towards it,
00:52:32and he makes the catch.
00:52:34And that is the inning.
00:52:36To the bottom of the sixth inning.
00:52:37The Giants with the lead in this one.
00:52:40Two to nothing.
00:52:52Back here on the south side.
00:52:53Bottom of the sixth.
00:52:55Now it's the shortstop.
00:52:56Number 13.
00:52:58A shortstop.
00:52:59Number 13.
00:53:03And a right-hander back to work.
00:53:08Base hit center field.
00:53:15Did take long to get a result for that at bat.
00:53:17That's about as textbook as it gets.
00:53:19Got his stride and load out of the way early.
00:53:22He stayed inside that ball and squared it up out front.
00:53:25Man, that was like he was in the cage hitting off a tee.
00:53:28So digging in, number nine.
00:53:31And there's one thing on his mind.
00:53:32This at bat, getting that first hit at the big league level.
00:53:37No base hits in the series for him so far.
00:53:40And it's clearly been a rough one.
00:53:41You just hope he's not pressing too hard because that just compounds things.
00:53:45It makes the slump even longer.
00:53:46Never seems to help.
00:53:48Never helped me.
00:53:51In there, and it's Illinois.
00:53:53Activity in the bullpen for the Yankees.
00:53:55Lefty Gomez.
00:53:56The left-handed reliever appears to be getting loose.
00:53:59Number 46.
00:54:00Getting loose as well.
00:54:02Number 13.
00:54:04On at first.
00:54:05Nobody out.
00:54:10Next offering is in for a strike.
00:54:13That curveball's been a big pitch for him today.
00:54:15He's been able to get ahead in the count with it.
00:54:17But he's also been able to use it to put guys away.
00:54:260-2 now.
00:54:28And that's outside.
00:54:42Next offering is outside.
00:54:43Next offering is outside.
00:54:49Rudder at first with no outs here.
00:55:00Next offering is foul back.
00:55:02Some real good life going through the zone on that one.
00:55:14And a pitch.
00:55:16And he tried to get him to chase on a slider down and away.
00:55:34The pitch.
00:55:36And ball four to a board.
00:55:44And here comes the Yankees manager to the mound.
00:55:46Pitching change coming.
00:55:48Fred Ruffing departs.
00:55:50Two-run ball game as he heads for the dugout.
00:55:52And we'll be back with a new pitcher.
00:55:55I don't believe in luck.
00:55:57It must be fake some county time.
00:55:59But none.
00:55:59Stay the least once double off.
00:56:01Hit an end every month.
00:56:03Now on the bump.
00:56:04Lefty Gomez.
00:56:05The offense will need to be ready for the breaking stuff.
00:56:08He's got a great curveball.
00:56:10At this point of the ball game, we're talking about middle innings.
00:56:13And a little length out of this arm coming out of the bullpen.
00:56:18And we'll see just how many outs he's able to give his skipper.
00:56:21And now here's the speed threat.
00:56:24Outfielder number 14.
00:56:34In the air, left field, down the line.
00:56:37No trouble here.
00:56:39Puts it away for the out.
00:56:40And there's one down.
00:56:45The best.
00:56:46Number 15.
00:56:49Number 15 will hit next.
00:56:52Chris, baseball today.
00:56:53So many strikeouts.
00:56:55And they are available to pitchers.
00:56:57But this is a guy that puts the bat on the ball.
00:57:00And is kind of different from the players that we see day in, day out.
00:57:04One out.
00:57:05Runners at first and second.
00:57:13The next offering misses.
00:57:15And it's a ball and a strike.
00:57:16Yeah, his swing is so good.
00:57:18It's in the zone a long time.
00:57:20He gets the barrel to it a lot.
00:57:21And that produces more base hits.
00:57:25Swings and misses.
00:57:26And it's one and two.
00:57:32The pitch.
00:57:34Got him swinging on the curveball.
00:57:37And now two gone.
00:57:38Well, that's a curveball that people like to describe as a hammer for Uncle Charlie.
00:57:43And you can see why.
00:57:44It's not a looping slow curve.
00:57:46He throws it hard.
00:57:47And it gets plenty of bite on the end.
00:57:54And now the DH.
00:57:55Number 40.
00:58:04Pitch misses inside.
00:58:05And it's one and O.
00:58:06So, one of the things that's interesting is that guys really don't worry about swing and miss from an offensive
00:58:13standpoint anymore.
00:58:14So, when you see somebody who contacts the ball like this, do you think of that as plus value?
00:58:20Absolutely.
00:58:21If he's doing damage now, if he's rolling over and grounding out, then it's a different story.
00:58:26But, yeah, if he could put the ball in the gaps or over the fence, 100%.
00:58:35The 2-0 is in for a strike.
00:58:46A little out front there as he swings through it.
00:58:49Yeah, and the domino effect of that is running up pitch counts on pitchers and then either getting them to
00:58:55a place of fatigue or getting into the ball.
00:58:58And he got him.
00:58:59Strike three, and that'll retire the side.
00:59:03Couple of strikeouts with runners on.
00:59:05Sometimes you've got to really bear down, and he did just that.
00:59:08Nice job of getting out of the jam and out of the inning.
00:59:17Top of inning number seven.
00:59:19And stepping in for the Yankees, Mickey Mantle.
00:59:24One of the things that Jim Leland used to say when I was broadcasting with the Marlins,
00:59:29the longer a plate appearance goes for a batter,
00:59:32the more likely it is that something good will happen for the hitter.
00:59:34First offering misses badly for ball one.
00:59:40The wind of the pitch.
00:59:44Now this one's crushed down the line.
00:59:46Hooking.
00:59:47Foul ball.
00:59:57The one-one.
01:00:01And now two-and-one after that missed inside.
01:00:06And the righty deals.
01:00:11Out to short.
01:00:13Gets it to first.
01:00:15And the leadoff hitter sat down to open the seven.
01:00:18Well, he's doing a nice job of keeping the ball out of the air.
01:00:21Let's the defense work behind him with another ground ball.
01:00:24Good execution.
01:00:24And now the right fielder, Reggie Jackson.
01:00:28The Yankees looking to rally.
01:00:37And the first offering is fouled off.
01:00:45But why did it kick the pitch?
01:00:50And it's fouled away.
01:00:59Righty delivers.
01:01:03Comes up empty as he chases that one in the dirt.
01:01:06Brown down to first with it.
01:01:08Got him.
01:01:08Two gone after the strikeout.
01:01:11The bat.
01:01:12The third baseman.
01:01:15Alex Rodriguez.
01:01:18Alex Rodriguez.
01:01:19Stepping in now for the Yankees.
01:01:21This guy is one of the best athletes in the sport.
01:01:32First offering.
01:01:33And it just misses.
01:01:41That one missed.
01:01:47The pitch.
01:01:51And a pop-up.
01:01:53Right side.
01:01:53Foul territory.
01:01:55Pulls it down and he makes the catch.
01:01:57And that is that.
01:01:59Down and order go the Yankees.
01:02:01They trail things here to nothing.
01:02:11Here on the south side.
01:02:13Set for the last half of the seventh.
01:02:15And now it's going to be Davis.
01:02:18The left fielder.
01:02:19Number 25.
01:02:21Gomez.
01:02:22Back to work.
01:02:25There's a strike.
01:02:36And that skips in the dirt.
01:02:46Late that time.
01:02:47And it's strike two.
01:02:48Man, he was really tardy on that fastball.
01:02:51Great job of setting him up by throwing the curveball.
01:02:54Add some velocity to it on the next pitch.
01:02:56Can't catch up.
01:02:59Next one off the plate inside.
01:03:02The countdown.
01:03:03Two and two.
01:03:09And down on strikes he goes.
01:03:11And one out now.
01:03:13He came out of his mechanics there.
01:03:15Typically, he likes to shoot the ball the other way.
01:03:17But that time, a little anxious.
01:03:27Here's the second baseman.
01:03:28Number 32.
01:03:34First off ring.
01:03:36Misses the ball.
01:03:47The big lefty turns, kicks, steals.
01:03:51Strike on the outside.
01:03:53That's strike one.
01:03:57And a pitch.
01:04:01Strike two.
01:04:07And a pitch.
01:04:11Ground ball to the right side.
01:04:14Garrett steps on the bag.
01:04:16Two up, two down.
01:04:19The catcher, number two.
01:04:22Yeah.
01:04:25Two out.
01:04:26Space is empty.
01:04:27Jim Brown digs in down.
01:04:38And that's in there for strike one.
01:04:40Good one.
01:04:43The pitch.
01:04:48And he hits a ground ball right side.
01:04:50And that's just foul.
01:04:57Two down.
01:04:58Nobody on.
01:05:02That one just misses.
01:05:04It's been a solid inning so far in relief.
01:05:06Getting them through this inning only down two could give their lineup a real opportunity
01:05:10to just grind their way back into this game with a few outs that they have left.
01:05:16In time to Gehrig.
01:05:17And that's the third out.
01:05:33Number 28 gets the call from the pen.
01:05:35And he'll work on holding this lead.
01:05:48We go to the eighth.
01:05:50Now it's going to be number 31.
01:05:52He is at the top of the game in terms of defense at the catching spot.
01:06:00Here comes the pitch.
01:06:02And ball one.
01:06:04It's so impressive because these guys have to do so much study in preparation for their
01:06:09pitchers, for opposing hitters, and really their number one job is to guide that staff
01:06:15through a ball game.
01:06:16And so when you also can turn it up offensively and be a force there, that is a win-win
01:06:23every
01:06:24manager's dream.
01:06:27That one not close.
01:06:29Now two balls and a strike.
01:06:42The pitch.
01:06:45In the air, pretty deep out to center field.
01:06:49Balls it in, and there's one away.
01:06:56The batter number 22.
01:06:58Second baseman, Robinson.
01:07:00Now it's the second baseman, Robinson Cano.
01:07:13In there for strike one.
01:07:15Well, in this one, the offense has sputtered.
01:07:18Somebody's got to find a way to get on, keep the line moving, and manufacture at least one
01:07:22run.
01:07:23Then maybe you get two or three.
01:07:26Bounce to the left side.
01:07:30Score at 5-3 for the second out with the third baseman shifted over there.
01:07:41Here's the Yankees' leadoff hitter, Derek Jeter.
01:07:52First pitch, and that's in for a strike.
01:08:00At the belt and fires.
01:08:03Popped up.
01:08:05Brown in position.
01:08:07Brings it in.
01:08:09And that'll do it.
01:08:121-2-3, go the Yankees.
01:08:14And they're down 2-0.
01:08:25Bottom of the eighth.
01:08:26Now the third baseman, number 64.
01:08:29Leading off for Chicago.
01:08:31The third baseman, number 64.
01:08:37And here it comes.
01:08:41That misses, and that's ball one.
01:08:47And he deals.
01:08:51That's off the mark.
01:08:53Down 2-0.
01:08:57The line of the pitch.
01:09:02Down 2-0.
01:09:03Two balls, one strike.
01:09:23And now it's even up.
01:09:28And a pitch.
01:09:33That one drilled left field.
01:09:37And that is gone.
01:09:40His second of the year, and they add a run.
01:09:44It's 3-0.
01:10:01A good hitter gets pitch recognition early.
01:10:04He saw exactly where that was going to be.
01:10:06The challenge, not get over-anxious and come out of your swing.
01:10:10He stayed on it and got all of it.
01:10:13Number 13.
01:10:14Now at the plate.
01:10:15Now batter.
01:10:17Number 13.
01:10:20First pitch, and he just misses.
01:10:23Always exciting to see a leadoff home run in an inning.
01:10:25Kind of gets the offense fired up, and you start to expect a big inning.
01:10:33The lefty, the 1-0.
01:10:37And there's a foul ball.
01:10:40The real threats are coming up.
01:10:43Already giving up a home run in this inning.
01:10:45He's going to really have to bear down.
01:10:53That one misses in the dirt.
01:11:03Out to short.
01:11:04Cheater handles.
01:11:06On the run.
01:11:07Throw to first.
01:11:08Water leg.
01:11:09That ground ball may have him back on track after the homer.
01:11:12Number 9.
01:11:17So up next, number 9.
01:11:26Well, they've kept him pretty quiet in this series.
01:11:28Still doesn't have a knock.
01:11:29I know you want to get that first knock out of the way.
01:11:32Maybe more will come.
01:11:33But you've got to give some credit to the pitching staff.
01:11:35They've had a great plan against him.
01:11:37So two balls and no strikes.
01:11:40Well, they gave up the home run earlier this inning.
01:11:42Not pitching as aggressively here.
01:11:47The next pitch misses.
01:11:49And it's 3-0.
01:11:58Kicks and fires.
01:12:02And that's in for a strike.
01:12:13Sliced hard, but foul.
01:12:16Look out.
01:12:16That ball is smoked.
01:12:18Man, I am so relieved that they have this netting down the lines.
01:12:22Just ensures safety for the fans.
01:12:24Last thing as a player you want to look up and see a fan get hit.
01:12:27Swings through that one.
01:12:28It's a strikeout.
01:12:29And to a lay down.
01:12:30Oh, this guy's been pretty much a non-factor so far this weekend.
01:12:34Very little in the way of impactful at-bats and quality at-bats and let alone contact.
01:12:40That's the sixth time they've sent him down on strikes in the series.
01:12:42So no doubt frustration mounting and very high right now.
01:12:52Here's the center fielder, number 14.
01:13:00That one's in there, 0-1.
01:13:11That one's in there, 0-1.
01:13:17Pulse strike right there.
01:13:19Quickly into an 0-2 count.
01:13:21Both pitches were down in the zone.
01:13:22I think you set your sights a little bit higher because you'll have a tendency to change.
01:13:27Ah, he locked him up.
01:13:28And that'll do it.
01:13:29The inning is over.
01:13:31One in the inning, and it comes from a rather unlikely power source.
01:13:36Last chance coming up here for the Yankees.
01:13:43McDonald will take over here.
01:13:45McDonald on for his major league debut.
01:13:48So we'll see if he's ready for the big stage.
01:13:58We go to the ninth.
01:14:00Now up is the Yankees' DH, Joe DiMaggio.
01:14:03The Yankees in striking distance, but have some work to do.
01:14:07Boog, it starts with a laid-off, man.
01:14:09Need a good at-bat out of him right here.
01:14:11Fastball in for a strike.
01:14:13And that is strike one.
01:14:25That's inside.
01:14:27That two-seam fastball is usually coupled with a slider away.
01:14:31And when a hitter's conscious of the pitch in, it's hard for him to cover middle away.
01:14:35And that's where a pitcher can really finish off that batter.
01:14:44Swings through that one for strike two.
01:14:46For a guy that's been swinging the bat, well, all game long, that was a pretty ugly swing right there.
01:14:51I'm sure he'll tighten it up on this next pitch.
01:14:55Got him looking.
01:14:57One away.
01:14:58No, you know, that's got to be very frustrating for this guy.
01:15:01He knows the strike zone extremely well.
01:15:03And you know what?
01:15:04Good hitters are not going to compromise.
01:15:06He'll take that punch out, but ultimately stick with his plan and have more success than anything else.
01:15:12Now the batter down.
01:15:13Babe Ruth in there at its own one.
01:15:33Oh, he doubled up on the off-speed there.
01:15:35We talk about the power fastball, but he's working a little differently here.
01:15:45Next pitch, not close, up high.
01:15:47Rarely will you see a pitcher just a wasted pitch like that.
01:15:50The batter wasn't even tempted to swing.
01:15:52Every pitch needs to have a purpose so that it can set up a following pitch to help you get
01:15:57that out.
01:16:14And the right-hater deals.
01:16:18Stays alive.
01:16:32In the air, right side.
01:16:35Base hit.
01:16:36So a man aboard now with one away.
01:16:41Really nice job, a two-strike hitting and that at bat.
01:16:43When you pop a ball up like that, you don't expect it to get you a knock too often.
01:16:47But right there, somehow he got it to drop in behind first base, and that's where no one could get
01:16:52to it.
01:16:53So a man aboard.
01:16:55Now here's the Yankees cleanup hitter, Lou Gehrig.
01:16:58This guy has turned into a beast.
01:17:13Checked swing, but he went too far.
01:17:16Strike one.
01:17:19Ruth, the runner at first with one gone in the inning.
01:17:27Next pitch misses, and it's two and one.
01:17:36Here's a rocket out to left.
01:17:38No trouble here.
01:17:40Puts it away for the out.
01:17:41Two away.
01:17:49Mickey Mantle.
01:17:50Next to hit, Mickey Mantle.
01:17:53Year in and year out, this guy, an MVP candidate.
01:18:01Next offering is down low.
01:18:03Ball one.
01:18:11Yeah, there's a ball.
01:18:20Right-handed reliever.
01:18:22And that one upstairs.
01:18:24Pressure Mountain right here with the tying run and the on-deck circle.
01:18:29He's got to find the strike zone.
01:18:39And a 3-0 finds his own.
01:18:48Two outs.
01:18:50Now front pulls that one foul.
01:18:52Now it's three and two.
01:18:54Great RBI spot here.
01:18:55Just got to stay focused on the pitch.
01:18:57The runner will be in motion, so something in the gap should definitely score him.
01:19:01Righty to the plate.
01:19:03High fly ball out into left center field.
01:19:06Davis settles under.
01:19:09And that is the ball game.
01:19:12The ball for his first career save deserves to be on display at his house.
01:19:16Yes, I mean, it's kind of like when a restaurant frames its first dollar bill somewhere on a wall.
01:19:20You just can't forget your first save.
01:19:22The shutout in this one.
01:19:233-0, our final score.
01:19:25For Chris Singleton and our entire outstanding crew here at MLB The Show, I'm John Chambi saying so long.
01:19:35All right, my flow sinister.
01:19:37This ain't rap music.
01:19:38It's straight literature.
01:19:39Small minded.
01:19:40All your ideas miniature.
01:19:42We tend to hate on you when they can't get rid of you.
01:19:44A wise man told me that silence never betrayed him.
01:19:47Keep your mouth shut.
01:19:48The ultimatums, stupid situations, the tongue often creates them.
01:19:52The motor mouth is usually causing me.
01:19:54Let's reflect times.
01:19:56I try to collect minds from complex rhymes.
01:19:58And by the way, shut out tech nine.
01:20:00Go and shut the fuck up.
01:20:01Just let me talk.
01:20:03I'm a time bomb.
01:20:04It's waiting to go off.
01:20:05Quite nuclear.
01:20:06Amazing what fame could do to you.
01:20:07Too peculiar.
01:20:08A wrong truly a.
01:20:09Real design.
01:20:18A wrong truly a.
