00:05Oh, that was nice. Hi everyone, I'm Maddie Ziegler, and today I'm gonna be showing you my everyday lip routine.
00:13Let's get started.
00:14Okay, so I'm in the middle of a press day, so I clearly already have my lip product on, so
00:21I'm gonna remove it and reapply.
00:34I really like the mini ones. They're really good for travel.
00:40This is clearly my first time doing ASMR.
00:45I've watched enough videos to know what I'm supposed to do.
00:53I typically go for a similar lip every time I do a look,
00:57but just like a slightly different color.
01:00So, I'm gonna show you sort of like the steps that I always do, but a slight variation.
01:07Okay.
01:08It's very important to make sure that, at least for me, that your lips are conditioned, but not too moist.
01:16Otherwise, I feel like the lip liner doesn't stick as well.
01:20So, I'm going in with MAC Whirl.
01:22This is such an OG shade.
01:24I've been using this forever.
01:26It's really good.
01:28I like to overline slightly.
01:30I just feel like it gives a way better look.
01:36I literally don't remember my life without makeup.
01:40I started dancing when I was two.
01:42I literally started wearing makeup that young, which is obviously way too young,
01:47but my earliest memories was my mom being so bad at my competition makeup when I was six,
01:56so I learned how to properly do everything myself.
01:58Full lashes, red lip.
02:01I did it at six years old.
02:03My mom got demoted.
02:07I love getting my makeup done.
02:09It's such a fun part of the process, but I'm like an OG makeup girl at heart.
02:14If I wasn't in my industry, I'd probably be a makeup artist.
02:18It's my favorite thing in the world.
02:19And I'm obsessed with makeup YouTube videos.
02:22I've been watching them since I was like eight or nine.
02:25So I'm living out my young fantasy right now.
02:28I have to shout out the OG makeup guru, Michelle Phan.
02:32She started that, so I love her.
02:36But now I watch more lifestyle videos.
02:39So like Alicia Marie, Remy Ashton, Acquired Style, and her sister, her twin sister, Danielle.
02:46I love their videos.
02:47I basically just love like lifestyle, makeup, fashion videos.
02:51It's my favorite thing to watch.
02:52Next, we're going in with this little Victoria Beckham in the shade Spark.
02:59It's a lipstick.
03:01I'm a lip liner girl.
03:03That's it, basically.
03:03I usually do a lip liner and maybe like a little balm or something like this.
03:08I have two gloss.
03:09I like my lips to be hydrated, but if I'm going out to eat and shopping and doing all of
03:16that,
03:16a gloss just is not realistic.
03:23I like to find lip shades that kind of mimic my lip, but better.
03:32I feel like a fish.
03:34And lastly, I'm going to go in with a little lip treatment.
03:37Just a little bit.
03:41Okay.
03:42That was not what I was expecting.
03:53I feel like the first makeup product I ever fell in love with was MAC.
03:57Just MAC makeup in general.
03:59I loved making the custom eyeshadow palettes and I know that was a huge deal and they were
04:03very expensive.
04:04And I used to like customize it.
04:06And I'll never forget my sister.
04:09They were like my prize position.
04:11And my sister started rhinestoning one of them.
04:15She wanted to write eyes and rhinestones and spelt it wrong.
04:18So, I was devastated and it just like fully ruined the ballot for me.
04:23Oh my gosh, there's a huge difference between getting ready at home versus getting ready for my character in Pretty
04:29Lethal.
04:30I'm covered in blood and dirt and sweat the whole movie.
04:35So, in my real life, I'm way cleaner.
04:37I feel like we were in the hair and makeup chair for a very long time every morning.
04:41We got it down to a science where we like were able to do it faster by the end.
04:46But someone like me who likes being clean, it was a little rough at times.
04:57You're getting very sleepy.
05:00Does this sound right to you?
05:04Oh, that's nice actually.
05:11So, I worked with amazing women on this film Pretty Lethal.
05:15And I feel like we were consistently sharing hair and makeup tips with each other.
05:18Whether it be skin care or body care stuff.
05:23Like, I feel like we were really into this magnesium cream that we would put on our necks and like
05:27our sore muscles.
05:29After we had been doing stunt fighting and dancing all day.
05:38Just tap, tap, tap.
05:39I kind of want to do this.
05:46It's really cool for me because I haven't danced in a minute.
05:51I kind of was straying away from doing lots of dancing in film.
05:55But this just felt like the right project.
05:58It was really fun to blend the ballet and the action.
06:01It's so different to anything I've done before.
06:04But dance is like a super power.
06:07So, it weirdly feels right.
06:09We trained for about two months on our own before we got to Budapest.
06:14We did about, I think, three weeks of ballet boot camp.
06:20So, we would do like four hours of ballet in the morning.
06:23And then we would do it like the rest of the day, four or five hours of stunt training.
06:28And we did that every day for three weeks.
06:30It was really fun.
06:32We had a style that we came up with called ballet foo.
06:34Which was like our version of fighting.
06:38But ballet-esque.
06:45Oh, it keeps going.
06:48I think my Beyonce.
06:51My favorite memories on set were literally just hanging out with all of the girls.
06:55Iris would go in our dressing rooms when we weren't there and steal our snacks.
07:01That was a fun little tidbit of information that I just found out two years later.
07:06I feel like I was really obsessed with those Milano cookies when I was there.
07:11I don't know why, but it was like my hyperfixation snack.
07:14And I would usually have at least like four packs.
07:16And when I'd get back, there'd be like two.
07:18But I thought maybe I just was taking them myself.
07:20I just, the days blurred together.
07:22So, yeah, but she's the culprit.
07:24My favorite thing about playing Bones was she was like the most resilient character I've ever played.
07:31She's had to grow up on her own.
07:35And has had to survive on her own her whole life.
07:38Dance is the first time that she's felt at home or safe or found community.
07:43They do not get along.
07:45Teamwork is not Bones' thing.
07:47But through the journey, they have to work together to survive.
07:50I think Bones is a little bit more brutally honest than I am.
07:54Her sort of upfront sort of tone is not going to bite you in the ass a little bit.
08:00But I think also we can all use some of that in our life.
08:03So, yeah.
08:04I love how brave she was.
08:06I wish I took more risks like that.
08:08If she were to give me advice, she'd probably tell me to bug up.
08:12I don't know.
08:13Sometimes I'm really sensitive and emotional.
08:17She is too.
08:18Which you uncover.
08:19But, yeah.
08:20She'd probably just say, get it together more.
08:22I do a lot of pre-character work with my acting coach, Megan.
08:28And so, we literally go line by line on every script we work on.
08:32I had everything sort of mapped out because you shoot out of order.
08:36So, there would be days when we'd be doing this scene that's way later in the film.
08:41And we hadn't filmed anything leading up to it.
08:43So, to have that sort of backstory and context, I would just kind of remind myself and go over all
08:49of the work that we did prior so that I could be present in the day.
08:53I had to decompress mentally and physically because it required a lot for me.
08:59Physically, lots of ice buckets on my feet because I have an injury on my ankle.
09:04We got to have a PT there.
09:06So, we did some, like, body work which was really, really nice.
09:09Some massages.
09:10Some adjusting stuff.
09:12And then, mentally, I got really into Emily in Paris.
09:16I needed something that I could shut my brain off and just enjoy.
09:20And so, at the end of the night, I would put Emily in Paris on, order room service, and call
09:25it a night.
09:26This role definitely just impacted me in a lot of ways.
09:30I felt the most me and comfortable.
09:33Not the killing part.
09:34I just felt really confident in myself.
09:36I felt, like, bones taught me so much.
09:38And I felt so brave and cool and resilient after doing that.
09:42Like, I, my body and my mental carried me throughout the whole process.
09:47So, I'm proud of myself.
09:49I carry that energy and that sort of bravery I add into everything I do moving forward.
09:55Oh, I heard this stuff is really good.
09:58It keeps your makeup on forever.
10:01I usually, in my everyday life, do, like, a Caudalie spray.
10:05It sort of melts my makeup together.
10:08I don't wear a lot of makeup on my everyday, so I don't really use it that often.
10:16I'm scared.
10:21While the mics are set, makeup is my zen time.
10:26I can, like, just put on a YouTube video and get ready and do my thing.
10:29I can do my makeup in five minutes if I need to.
10:32If I, like, have all the time in the world, I will sit there.
10:34I used, when I was little, I used to sit in my mirror for hours and hours and just do
10:39makeup looks, take it off, do another one, take it off.
10:42And go through, like, seasons of shows or just YouTube videos.
10:46Okay, so these are called lotion bursts.
10:51Oh, that was nice.
10:53I don't know if this is sanitary, but...
11:00Okay.
11:02Oh my god, my, like...
11:04I'm feeling overstimulated.
11:06Oh my god, people use these, no offense.
11:09It's lotion.
11:12Oh.
11:13Smells good.
11:14It's like cherry.
11:16Mmm.
11:17That is so weird.
11:19But I feel moisturized.
11:21I think something younger Maddie wouldn't believe that I'm doing right now is ASMR.
11:26My younger YouTube self is, like, freaking out because this is, like, fun for me.
11:30In terms of, like, my real career, I always knew that I was gonna be doing something in the industry.
11:36Like, I always, I had one goal, which was dance.
11:39And then, with acting, maybe I didn't realize that I would be doing a ballet action film.
11:44It wasn't something on my bingo card, but I'm, like, so happy that it's happened and now I wanna do
11:49a female assassin role.
11:50I think that would be really fun.
11:52I definitely wanna create a brand.
11:55I also definitely wanna have a production company.
12:00And painting is something that I absolutely love to do.
12:05And people have literally commissioned, like, friends.
12:09Like, Lana and her husband literally had us come over to paint with them and make these big canvases staying
12:18up in their new house.
12:19So, I think it's a business brewing.
12:22I'm not painting anything at the moment.
12:24I feel like I need to get my fix with that.
12:26I also love pottery.
12:27It's fun to get messy with it because I, it is such a weird sort of, like, overstimulating feeling.
12:35But, it's fun.
12:36And, I just like creating in general and expressing myself in that way.
12:41I did recently just make a matchable.
12:44I haven't used it yet, but I will.
12:46And I, like, made the little divot to where I can pour it.
12:50And it just, it's a nice pour.
12:52So, loving that.
12:54I wanna make functional stuff, like, do mugs next, plates, bowls.
13:02It's hard to whisper for a long period of time.
13:05I didn't even realize that.
13:08Should I eat a piece of ice?
13:11I used to love chewing on ice when I was a kid.
13:21This is so funny.
13:24So cold.
13:26Brain freeze.
13:28That brought me back.
13:29One piece of makeup advice I could give would be,
13:33let one thing be the staple or statement.
13:36So, whether that be, let the eyes have a moment,
13:39or let the lips have a moment,
13:40or do a blush moment.
13:42Don't do it all together.
13:44I mean, you can.
13:45There's nothing wrong with that.
13:47You can express yourself whenever you want.
13:48But, I've just found for me,
13:50if you're doing a bold eye, don't do a bold lip.
13:53Okay, guys.
13:54I hope you enjoyed my ASMR experience and my lip routine.
14:00Don't forget to watch Pretty Lethal streaming on Prime, March 25th.
14:08Goodbye.
14:09Mwah.
14:10Mwah.
14:11Mwah.
14:11Mwah.
14:11Bye, Mwah.
14:11Good to see you.
14:11Thanks.
14:12Bye.
