00:09Hey everyone, it's Chris Appleton and I'm about to get undressed and show you my nighttime routine
00:19which is also my morning routine. Let's get into it. So what's really helped my skin is the shark
00:26LED cryro glow mask today. We're gonna go for better aging because let's face it, I'm not getting any younger
00:38and that is six minutes. I'm gonna light this place up. Can you hear me getting younger by the minute?
00:56Because it definitely feels like I am. It has LED lights which basically take away fine lines
01:05and wrinkles. And it makes your skin look glowy. Which is what we all want.
01:20Alright. It's been six minutes. How do I look? If I look the same, that's rubbish.
01:26I have a little secret cocktail that I like to use and these are two high and low products.
01:34I like high and I like low. Okay, first up we're gonna go high because that's how we're gonna start
01:43things off. And this is the Le Mare. Look at that solid quality product. You can drop it on the
01:52floor
01:53which I do regularly and it won't smash. So we're gonna open it up.
02:02See, it doesn't smash. And what I like about it is it's thick and it's strong
02:11and it goes a long way. I'm gonna take a nice little scoop of this. Dip my finger in. I
02:18love putting my
02:19finger into this thing. It's so, like, I just know it's like a little pot of love. And I put
02:25it on my
02:26palm. But I learned this from one of my celebrity clients. And then I love to use this. This is
02:35the
02:35Skin Food and it's the Light Cream. Now this might be completely wrong but I just like mixing these two
02:42because I find the Le Mare a little thick, as I said before. So I like to soften it down
02:49a little bit.
02:50And I add a little bit of the Skin Food to it. I saw that, like, Hayley Peeber, Kendall, and
02:57honestly,
02:58when I do my grooming, they always use this on me. So I mix this with it. Just a small
03:06amount, like so. And I mix them
03:08together. And then I get it. And I just lapper it on my face.
03:36We're gonna put some eye patches on because they're great for dark circles and under eye issues.
03:46I put these on all the time when I'm traveling on a plane. I have no shame.
03:53And I think anything you can do to take away puffiness or inflammation is great.
04:02So I'm just gonna take this out and put it on my eye. I think I've liked my lesson with
04:08grooming.
04:10I mean, as my career has evolved, you have to go to events and I don't really like wearing makeup.
04:23But sometimes you gotta, so if you go to an event, you gotta wear makeup sometimes.
04:28But I am around women. And so I watched them get a full beat. And I had to learn the
04:35hard way that I
04:36don't need a full beat. I did a red carpet and I had more makeup on than Kris Jenner.
04:44And I thought I looked good, but I didn't. I looked like I had a lot of makeup on.
04:49And I realized less is more. So you have to figure out your grooming ways. People probably think I'm eye
04:55maintenance, but I like to keep it
04:57relatively simple. But if there is one makeup product that I would like, and I think all guys love this,
05:06is bronzer because it just gives you a little bit of a glow. I like to look them. This is
05:15Victoria Beckham
05:16matte bronzing brick. And the reason I like this is because it gives you a really nice glow, but it's
05:26matte.
05:26I'd say I'm good at hair. I'm definitely not good at makeup. I've learned by watching some of the greats.
05:34But don't judge me on my technique. I load up the brush. Rubbish, you can't even hear it. And then
05:46I've learned this.
05:47You just want to look like you've been in the sun. So I'll hit it in the corners first on
05:53my forehead.
05:55Oh God, I forgot to take these off. So I'll take these off first. I'll usually leave the eye mask
06:00things on for like ages, honestly. I kind of go sleep in them and I'll find them on my pillow
06:07or
06:08like just random places. Like I found one of my back ones.
06:17And obviously I want to contour my face. That's what I remember. So I'll just try and shape
06:23the bitch. So then I'll come down and I learned this from Kim where you're going in like a three.
06:29So you go in. So you go from the corners into the cheekbone. And then from there into the jaw.
06:36Because everyone wants a snatched jaw. Okay, is this working? God, I think I'm a bit heavier on that
06:43because there's a lot of product. I only smoke. Okay, I'll just keep going.
06:49I realized I wanted to be a hairstylist as a kid. Do you know why I shouldn't be left with
06:55this bronzer
06:55because I'm just going to keep covering my whole face in it? I used to attack my sister's Barbies.
07:04I just felt like I could make them look better. And that was my first client.
07:09And then, by the way, what I like to do is this. I like to hit it where the sun
07:15is. Someone told me
07:15this. I think it was Mary Phillips. She said, do you want to look like you've been in the sun
07:19with
07:20bronzer? Mary, if it wasn't you, I'm sorry. But it was someone I worked with. Okay, so now I'm
07:28going to just do the end of my nose. And my chin to contour it. I then went and did
07:38my mom's hair
07:40because I wanted to somehow make her look more glamorous. Things were really hard. We didn't
07:46have anything remotely glamorous at all. And my mom was working from a five and her life was far from
07:56anything remotely glamorous. So I wanted to do a hair to make her look like the people I saw on
08:03TV.
08:05I told you not to leave me with this bronzer. And so I'd say mom look in the mirror. And
08:11after I realized
08:13she had a reaction, she had a reaction and she stood differently. She stood taller and her shoulders
08:20went back. And in that moment, I knew I wanted to do hair because you got to make people look
08:32good,
08:32but also feel good. And that's where the magic was for me and still is. And I still have that
08:40feeling.
08:40It does make people look good and feel good. And also it's a quality packaging. This is like a thick,
08:48everyone likes a good package. You know, like a thick, heavy package. This is exactly that.
08:53It's like heavy in your hands. It's got some weight to it.
08:58If I'm ever doing an event or something on camera, I will use this Victoria Bancom
09:06concealer because, yeah, skincare. And I like that it's light, but also I like the click. Are you ready?
09:19This is what I do. I don't know if it's right, but I try and watch what my clients have
09:25done.
09:26And this is probably an embarrassment to everyone involved because they're going to be like,
09:30where did you learn this? But this is what I think you do. I put it there and then I
09:35just kind of smudge
09:36it in. And the reason I wanted to write my book is because I felt like a lot of people
09:43had an idea
09:44about me and my life and it wasn't really true in terms of like, oh God, it's hard to talk
09:52and do
09:52your makeup at the same time. Hands off to like makeup influencers that do this. I'm going to rest that
09:58there so I can see. But basically, I think people had an idea of me being able to... I can't
10:04concentrate. Hang on.
10:07Let me blend this in a bit. For those of you watching, my makeup artist had to fix it. She
10:12said,
10:13I'm a hot mess. But she said, it's good to be funny and a mess. So that's good. And that's
10:17partly why I
10:17wanted to write the book because I think people had an idea from my social media that life's glamorous
10:23and life looks good and we tend to post the best of ourselves. Which, let's face it, we do. I
10:29wanted
10:30to show something a little bit more real, more authentic. Something to show maybe the darker times
10:36in my life and times I've really struggled and how I got to where I've got in hope that it
10:42inspires others
10:42to feel they can do the same and to realize it's never too late to meet your comeback. And the
10:47reason I
10:48asked Kris Jenner to do the forward is because, well, let's face it, she's an icon and she's Kris Jenner.
10:58So I asked her and I was expecting it to be, you know, like busy or whatever. And she said,
11:05I would love to. And she wrote a beautiful forward. And it was a very... Still now, I find it
11:11hard to
11:12believe that Kris Jenner would write my forward. But I guess that's that boy from, you know,
11:17middle England that kind of wanted to do the stars one day. I guess it's that imposter syndrome.
11:24But I don't mind it. I like that little boy that keeps me grounded because I don't think
11:30I ever want to lose that feeling of just feeling so grateful for the people around me and the
11:35experiences and the opportunities I've had because there's been so much of my life that wasn't like
11:40that. So I hope he always hangs around. Okay, I have another little beauty secret. Like I said,
11:46I like to keep things relatively simple. But this is a game changer. This is the
11:50Color Wow root tocho powder. This stuff is amazing because it stays exactly where you put it. And I'll
11:56tell you why that is so important. I was doing Katy Perry's hair for the med ball and I was
12:03really
12:03nervous because it's a big gig and she had black hair at the time. And we did these baby bangs
12:09and she had
12:11this big like shing yong. It was like really beautiful. She knew exactly what she wanted. So underneath
12:17the hair there was like a donut. We call it like a padding, like a big padding. Naturally, my assistant
12:25brought a blonde one, not a black one. Now, I was not fazed in the light of a problem because
12:34as a
12:34hairstylist we always have problems and we have to just think on a few. I thought to myself, I'll spray
12:42it
12:42black. So I got some like root spray and sprayed it black and it worked. So I did a hair
12:48and I thought
12:50this looks great. And then I looked down on my hands and I thought, I've got black all over my
12:56hands.
12:57But then I looked in the mirror and I thought, oh it had black all over my face. I laughed
13:03it off.
13:07Until I looked at Katy Perry's face and she too had black on her face.
13:16I stopped laughing because this was a problem. And basically this spray just kept dusting down
13:24on her face because it was underneath there. And it was hard to get rid of. And the makeup artist
13:35wanted to kill me. Then in that moment, I became loyal to this, the colour wild root touch of powder
13:45because it stays exactly where you put it. Now, watch my head get smaller.
13:54Be prepared to be wowed. Look, a bit bold. And now, oh shit, now not a bit bold.
14:06Can you see the difference? Before I reveal to you my scent, I am going to tell you the first
14:14client I ever got in Hollywood. I got a call to do Christina Aguilera for The Voice. And I thought,
14:21this is huge. And I just got so scared. I had imposter syndrome and I was terrified.
14:30I turned up to The Voice and there was three hours for glam. That's a long time, right? Well,
14:36the makeup artist went in, but she's a busy girl and she had interviews and stuff to do.
14:41So, for a long story short, I went in the last 20 minutes before the live show.
14:46My nerves was high. I was a wreck. But I wasn't going to let it show. So she said,
14:54what do you want to do? And I said, why don't we try a wig? Because I thought this will
14:58be a really
14:59quick way to change it up. Do something different. Add a new look. You want to be remembered.
15:07So I felt excited. And she said, I don't like wigs. And so I said, of course you don't. But
15:17in my head.
15:19And so I froze. And the time was ticking. Tick tock. Tick tock. And I felt like I was just
15:28going to have
15:29to go home because I felt paralyzed with fear. And I was like, this is just not going to work.
15:36But then I came to myself and I had a moment where I thought about my kids.
15:42And I remember my friend saying to me, you didn't come this far to come this far. And that was
15:47like
15:48putting a cape on. I felt like I came back to myself and I said, let's just try these wigs.
15:54She said, okay. I put the wig on. She said, I like it. So I had 10 minutes.
16:03She went off on the live show. I didn't know where I stood.
16:09She said, the show finished. She walked over. She looked at me. She said, everyone likes your wig.
16:16And in that moment, I knew I did it. So for anyone that ever has imposter syndrome,
16:25feels small, not good enough, or just not sure what they're doing next, never give up and never
16:36stop believing in yourself. And if there's one piece of advice I can give you is never take no for
16:42an
16:42answer. I've had way more no's than I've had yes. But you just keep going until you get the yes.
16:50So now I'm going to use, this is my fragrance. It's called Who is Elijah? And this is called Haze.
16:56Not everyone knows about Who is Elijah and they should because it's a great fragrance.
17:02And I mix between Haze and Rebel Rose and it smells like I would say, if I could describe it,
17:09it's going to be low key, but sexy for sure. Smooth, woody, erotic, has a little bit of a kick.
17:20And then just when you think it's done, it comes back some more. Close your eyes guys,
17:25and see if you can smell it. Ready? Three, two, one.
17:37Take it in. Take it in. Breathe it in. That's it. Just relax. And exhale.
17:47So, hair advice to those that are watching. Use your hair to express yourself. I've made a career
17:53out of helping people create an image. And it changes. And I think it's important to know that
18:00you are not where you were ten years ago. You're not where you were five years ago. You've changed,
18:06you've evolved. Life changes and so should your hair. So, learn to have fun with your hair and
18:12express yourself and make sure you're aligned with how you feel on the inside and how you look on the
18:20outside. So, if you're getting a new job, maybe you want to present yourself differently. It's time
18:26to change up there. Don't stay stuck. Always try and evolve, even if it's something small. Keep growing.
18:35Keep changing. Keep asking questions. And as long as you're doing that, you're living.
18:42Thank you for watching, guys. I am now finished. That might have been a hot mess. But honestly,
18:48it's kind of how I roll right now. To get ready. To get unready. And to face the day. They're
18:55all
18:55the little tricks that I'll pull in at a time when I need it. I want to say thanks for
19:02watching. I hope you
19:03learned something. And if you didn't, then I hope you had a laugh. If you want to see more of
19:10me,
19:10then you can read my book or you can listen to my voice on the audio. It's called Your Roots
19:17Do Not
19:18Define You. And it's a book about reinvention and it's about creating your comeback. And it's never too
19:26late. Thank you so much for watching. I've had a great time. Thanks. Bye. See you.
