00:00Big boost for the Indian Armed Forces. The latest news that's coming in, the Ministry of Defense has been able
00:05to strike a massive deal for the Indian Army and the Indian Navy.
00:10And this is with Russia, Russian company basically. And here are the details that I'm bringing to you.
00:15The Ministry of Defense has signed an 858 crore rupees defense deals for the Army and Navy.
00:21Let me break it down for you.
00:23A 445 crore rupees deal inked with the Russian company, which is with regard to the air defense missile systems
00:30for the Indian Army.
00:31The Tunguska systems will boost India's multi-layered air defense against aircraft, drones and cruise missiles.
00:37So this one is for a defense system.
00:39As much crucial, remember, one to have the arsenal in self-defense to target strikes if required, but importantly to
00:45also defend our country and our strategic aspects.
00:48Deal reinforcing India and Russia's strategic defense partnership.
00:53Russia, remember, for decades has been one partner vis-a-vis defense for India that has been not just a
01:01partner but an ally, a friend as much.
01:04Then, a 413 crore rupees contract signed with Boeing India Defense Private Limited as well.
01:11I want to immediately bring in my colleague, Shivani Sharma, to break it down for us.
01:16Shivani, 858 crore rupees deal, but it's also in different parts, right, with different companies.
01:21So just tell us, what are these deals and why do you think specifically this aspect of it has been
01:27chosen?
01:28These are two important deals.
01:30One happens to be with the Rosoboron expert, which is a Russian company.
01:35This is for the Tunguska missile systems that will enhance the air defense capacity of the Indian Army.
01:40There has been a lot of focus on air defense and India's own air defense shield also.
01:45So there are multiple projects going on.
01:47And we also know that we take S-400 from Russia.
01:51But this one is, if we talk about the ranges, this is for a surface-to-air missile system.
02:00And this is also very important, though India already has these air defense missile systems.
02:05But we are upping the numbers.
02:07When we talk about the second part of this deal, this is for the PHIs that are already being operated
02:13by the Indian Navy.
02:14These are the long-range reconnaissance aircraft.
02:17So for their maintenance, repair and overall, this is a deal that has been now gotten to by the MOD
02:25with the Boeing India,
02:26which happens to be a subsidiary of Boeing.
02:29And this also happens to be a very important aspect because we are also looking for six more PHI aircraft.
02:35So India is enhancing its procurements, both in terms of surveillance, reconnaissance, but also air defense systems.
02:44So these two deals are majorly important in terms of that.
02:48Shivani, thank you very much for these fresh deals that have been signed again this time with Russia,
02:54especially for the defense systems and to also ensure, which is the Boeing India Defense Prime Limited for depot-level
03:00inspection.
