The multicultural communities in the Illawarra now have a dedicated gathering space, with the Multicultural Communities Council of Illawarra (MCCI) receiving $5 million from the federal government on March 27, 2026.

For half a century the MCCI has supported migrants and refugees in the region, and this funding will ensure it can continue to create a space for social connection, training, events, and education.
