00:00Thursday, Friday, games begin for the NCAA Sweet 16.
00:07Of course, two of our teams are involved.
00:10They will both play on Friday.
00:12But what would a Sweet 16 be without David Hall and the Blitz?
00:19And look, I don't have influence like Kenny,
00:22so I think we can have the Sweet 16 without me.
00:25Duke!
00:26But let's get to this here because we have eight games.
00:29Yes, Thursday and Friday.
00:31And I want to talk about watchability.
00:33I have a ranking of watchability for these games.
00:36Go ahead, Rico.
00:36Real quick, before we get to the games, I can't believe this is happening.
00:41I thought it was just a rumor, but it looks like it's really going to happen.
00:45LSU is going to bring back Will Wade.
00:47They're bringing him back, huh?
00:48This has nothing to do with the Sweet 16.
00:50Really?
00:51It may next year.
00:54Seriously, the man left in disgrace.
00:57And now you're going to bring him back.
00:59All right, shout out SEC.
01:01It just means more.
01:02Why are they doing that?
01:03I thought that was a joke.
01:04I really did.
01:05Okay, all right.
01:06There we go.
01:08It does just mean more.
01:09So let's get to it here.
01:11Watchability.
01:11We're going to rank them from eight to one.
01:14Number eight.
01:15Number two, Purdue versus number 11, Texas.
01:18It simply says Texas is the only double-digit seed left standing
01:23and not too excited to watch that game.
01:26Would you agree?
01:27I'm right up there with them.
01:29Purdue has played tremendous.
01:31They've actually been the best team in the Big Ten the last month of the season,
01:36I think, or at least the last few weeks,
01:39even before the Big Ten tournament.
01:41And they've gotten on a roll.
01:42They've been really good.
01:43And at times, they are not the most exciting team to watch.
01:46However, I would put them seven.
01:49I wouldn't put them eight.
01:50You may have put this one eight.
01:52I mean, because Texas, their three-point defense is horrific.
01:57And Fletcher Lawyer is all of a sudden starting to rain threes.
02:00If Braden Smith starts hitting the threes down low with Clough and Kaufman-Rend.
02:07Texas doesn't play great defense.
02:09I know.
02:09So if you're Purdue, you just go out there, you get the job done,
02:13and you move on to the Elite Eight.
02:16The next best watchable game will be Friday at 10, 10 p.m. on TBS.
02:21It will be the No. 2 seed Iowa State versus No. 6 Tennessee.
02:27And it simply says, we don't know about Joshua Jefferson,
02:31so this may just be not that watchable.
02:35And I think that's going to be the biggest thing.
02:37I'm sorry, Stoney.
02:38That's going to be the biggest thing is whether he plays or not.
02:40Do you think you have enough to beat a Tennessee team?
02:43That's kind of known for choking in the tournament.
02:46Oh, Rick Barnes!
02:47And you could save him for a potential Michigan game in the Elite Eight.
02:52Less wear and tear on that ankle.
02:55That's how I see it.
02:56I just like watching Iowa State play whether he plays or not.
03:00I think they're well coached.
03:03And I'm interested to watch it.
03:05I always like watching Iowa State play.
03:07And as far as Tennessee goes, every single freaking year,
03:11it's Rick Barnes falling short somewhere.
03:14And the guy's a good coach, just not great in the tournament.
03:17No.
03:18The next most or best watchable game, I'm shocked it's this far down.
03:24It is Friday at 7.35 p.m.
03:26It is No. 1 Michigan versus No. 4 Alabama.
03:29I'm shocked that they have it this low because they mentioned the three-point shots,
03:33which is what we talked about, Rico, says Alabama has made 15 plus threes
03:39on 10 occasions, and Michigan opponents made 15 or more three-pointers twice,
03:45and they were one-on-one.
03:46That was against Wisconsin.
03:47So with that excitement with threes, you'd think it would be more watchable.
03:51The Wisconsin game and I think the Nebraska game.
03:52Yeah, I agree because there's a chance that Alabama is so herky-jerky as they are
04:01and they don't have a conscience that if they are not hitting their threes,
04:06Michigan can just blow them out.
04:08So that's why it possibly could be that game.
04:12I don't necessarily feel that's going to happen, but I can see that ranking there
04:16because I think that has the biggest potential to be a blowout.
04:21What the senator from Philadelphia just said, I agree.
04:26If Alabama is hitting the threes, it's going to be a fun game.
04:30It's going to be an entertaining game, but if they're not happening
04:33and they're not falling, Michigan just goes down low to their three-headed monster,
04:38this thing's going to be over because Alabama cannot match that.
04:42The only way.
04:43Alabama has one arrow in that quiver.
04:47Shoot threes.
04:48They don't fall.
04:50Michigan can win this game by about 25 points.
04:52And Michigan just has to be smart and not try to outrun with that team.
04:57Yeah, don't play a game of horse with them.
04:59The next best watchable game would be No. 4 Nebraska versus No. 9 Iowa.
05:05It talks about Nebraska making their first ever.
05:09Iowa here since first time since 1999.
05:12But how is this No. 5 on the list for most watchable?
05:16That was going to be my 8.
05:17I mean, shouldn't this game be the Friday after Thanksgiving?
05:20No.
05:21I mean, seriously.
05:22Look, a lot of it is brand name.
05:25You know, if you're not watching them that closely.
05:27Look, Hoiberg has done a great job with that team,
05:30and they moved the ball around well.
05:32And Iowa got fortunate that Florida forgot to defend somebody late in that game.
05:37But I don't think that's going to be a great game.
05:41It really is.
05:43But this is a game.
05:45You see Iowa.
05:46You see Nebraska.
05:47And your mind automatically clicks off.
05:49It's like, oh.
05:50That's why I said Friday after Thanksgiving.
05:53They played twice.
05:54They split.
05:56Now, each won at home.
05:58Iowa won in a rock fight at home.
06:00I think it was 57 to 52.
06:03It was bad basketball.
06:05But I think the last game of the season, Nebraska won 87 to something.
06:11It was in overtime.
06:12Like, they went back and forth.
06:15Now, Iowa has the best player in Sturtz on the court.
06:18But then, you know, Nebraska has Sanford.
06:22It will be fun.
06:23But I think most people just see these two logos and say hard pass.
06:28I know.
06:29A next game here.
06:31Probably more than anybody wanted to hear about Iowa and Nebraska.
06:33But I just broke it down last night on the five-star zone.
06:36So, go ahead.
06:36Here we go.
06:37The next most watchable game would be the number two, UConn,
06:40versus number three, Michigan State Spartans.
06:43And it talks about playmaking everywhere.
06:45Jeremy Fears and everything that UConn has in this game.
06:50It is.
06:50And this is one where it's the Spider-Man meme.
06:54Both teams do almost everything statistically the same.
06:59The coaches love each other.
07:00There's no clear-cut advantage.
07:02I mean, the referees just may give each one of them a technical file just to start the game off
07:07and be like, because I know you both are going to do something.
07:09Yeah.
07:10It really boils down to turnovers.
07:13And who turns the ball over less?
07:16That's going to be the winner of this game.
07:18Terrace Reed, Jr.
07:20Yeah.
07:20You know.
07:20Out of nowhere.
07:22Which Terrace Reed shows up?
07:24Correct.
07:24The one that scores 30 or the one that barely scored 10 points?
07:28Look, they're two bigs against Michigan State's two bigs.
07:31It should be a rock fight.
07:33You're right.
07:33Right.
07:33Does Cohen Carr go back to being what he's done?
07:36And for Michigan State, they've done something they haven't done all year.
07:39They normally average shooting, making seven three-pointers a game.
07:42They've averaged double-digit three-pointers.
07:45They had 10 and 11 in the two tournament games.
07:48Doesn't sound like much, Stoney, but that's a 12-point.
07:51The nine-to-12-point difference could be the key to winning this thing.
07:56I mean, the crowd.
07:57It's closer to D.C.
08:00I mean, there'll be a lot of Spartan fans there,
08:02but I wouldn't call it a Connecticut home game, but it's close.
08:05I think it'll probably be – well, Duke's going to have some fans there.
08:10Oh, yeah.
08:11So, for that game, yes.
08:13Duke, you think you're going to have some fans there?
08:15Duke's going to have some fans there.
08:17Number – yeah.
08:18Number three on the list here, and this is – I mean,
08:21can't wait to see this game Thursday at 945.
08:24Number one, Arizona versus number four, Arkansas.
08:27And it simply says, you're looking at your NBA mock drafts?
08:30Well, then look at this game.
08:31You have Arizona's Braden Burrys.
08:33You have Malik Thomas, Jaden Bradley, and, of course, Darius Acuff.
08:38And you get to watch Cal coach, which is always interesting.
08:41Yeah.
08:42Because there are a lot of times, as we know, Oakland University is one example
08:46where Cal comes up short, but he's done a really good job with this team.
08:51And, you know, I'd love to see Acuff just go off and then pull the upset.
08:56And can Arizona get through?
08:57I mean, they've not gone to –
08:59They've been some choke artists as well.
09:01Yeah.
09:01Let's just call it what it is.
09:02They haven't gotten things done.
09:04I mean, the old joke of when Lute Olsen used to coach them.
09:07You know, why can't you get Arizona – why doesn't Lute Olsen ever get drunk?
09:12Because he gets kicked out after the first round.
09:16Number two on this list here, and I'm calling this the Mike versus Rico Bowl.
09:21This is the number two, Houston versus number three, Illinois.
09:26Keegan Wagler in this game.
09:28Kingston Flemings in this game.
09:30There's a lot in this game.
09:31Yeah, for some reason, Mike has it that I don't like Houston.
09:34I like Houston.
09:35I like what Calvin says.
09:36You just love Illinois more.
09:37Well, Illinois is just entertaining.
09:40Okay, so for everybody who says, I don't want to watch Iowa and Nebraska,
09:45then you want to watch Illinois.
09:47Because Illinois –
09:48Hit or miss, right?
09:50Hit or miss.
09:51Yeah, when they're on – I mean, it's like they're raining threes.
09:56It's the Jokovic, yeah.
09:57Right.
09:58It's almost like they have a European semi-pro league out there,
10:02and they're just getting it done.
10:04Does Josh Davis fit on anybody's all-hateable team?
10:10Not yet.
10:11Not yet?
10:11Okay.
10:12Go further, maybe.
10:14Now, the thing is, with this game, it's style.
10:18It's offense versus defense.
10:20So, you got to see which one – most of the time, defense travels.
10:25Defense will always be there.
10:27But I'm interested just to see which style wins out in this game.
10:31And this is a home game for Houston.
10:33Yeah, it's a home game for Houston.
10:34Yeah.
10:35And if you're Houston, if you don't win this regional,
10:38because you win that game.
10:40I mean, basically, you'll become the king of the Big Ten.
10:42Correct.
10:43Because then you play the other two –
10:45Correct.
10:45One of the other two Big Ten teams.
10:46Yes, exactly.
10:47And I think Kelvin Sampson would be great for him to win a title.
10:51And my daughter would win my pool,
10:53or at least be in the top three if Houston does win it.
10:56And the most watchable game for the Sweet 16,
11:00Friday at 7-10, Duke versus No. 5 St. John's.
11:05I don't know if I would choose this to be the most watchable,
11:07but they did.
11:09I think it is just because it's Duke and it's St. John's,
11:13and I think St. John's got under-seeded.
11:17Yes, he did.
11:18I think St. John's can beat Duke.
11:20And I think that Patino, he's got the –
11:23and he's got a little bit of –
11:25look, I know it's –
11:26he's got a little bit of revenge factor of wanting to beat Duke
11:29because remember, Christian Laitner put him out of the tournament
11:32as a Kentucky coach.
11:34I think it is, David, because I just think –
11:39I look at this game and Duke is teetering,
11:42and I know I need Duke to win.
11:43They're on a 13-game win streak.
11:45I know.
11:46But they haven't looked the greatest lately, yes.
11:48Remember how we talked –
11:49Well, that injury hurt them big time.
11:51Remember how we talked, like, for Michigan for a while,
11:53they were teetering and they just weren't looking like the best team.
11:56They were winning games.
11:57That's Duke.
11:59You've had two close games against Siena and TCU.
12:03Let's see if a week off helps them.
12:05But St. John's rolling in there.
12:07They're going to try to get that thing done.
12:09By the way, John Shire wasn't born when Patino led Providence
12:13to the 1987 Final Four.
12:16Now, you know who Patino's best player was on that team?
12:181980 – no.
12:20No clue.
12:21He's the head coach of the Chicago Bulls.
12:23Billy Donovan.
12:25Wow.
12:26In Providence.
12:27Now, if – yeah, and if you're Kentucky,
12:30you probably are very upset because your last two coaches
12:34are still in the tournament and Mark Pope can't do anything.
12:39Just saying.
12:40Those are your –
12:41Careful about running your coaches out of town.
12:43That is your college basketball wraparound 97-1.
12:47That is your college basketball.
12:47That is your college basketball.
