00:00Iran has been severely weakened by weeks of unrelenting strikes.
00:05So why are its ballistic missiles still such a threat?
00:08U.S. and Israeli airstrikes have all but eliminated Tehran's Air Force and Navy.
00:13Its most modern air defenses are destroyed, its command and control structure disrupted.
00:18But its missile arsenal is another story.
00:21It's fired at least 1,300 of its estimated 2,500 ballistic missiles
00:26at targets around the region since the war began on February 28.
00:30For the first couple of weeks, interception rates were reported above 90%.
00:34Now, although Iran is conducting many fewer strikes,
00:38some estimates put interception rates at closer to 75%,
00:41as advanced intermediate-range ballistic missiles are launched from hard-to-reach bases in its eastern regions.
00:48U.S. and Israeli aircraft continue to hunt Iran's missiles and launchers,
00:52and the countries have said Tehran's offensive capability has been reduced by 90%.
00:57But for now, the more effective strikes, which experts say are a function of better target selection,
01:03worn-down defenses, and different missile trajectories,
01:06are taking a toll as they hit oil and gas infrastructure around the region.
01:10That puts additional pressure on the U.S. as dwindling energy flows chip away at the health of the global
01:16economy.
