Rescuers and divers were deployed on Thursday (March 26) to search the Padma River after a bus carrying 40 people plunged into the water while attempting to board a ferry in Bangladesh, killing at least 24.

00:1424. The accident happened near Doladia in Rajbari district on Wednesday when the bus lost control
00:21as it approached the ferry. The vehicle overturned before sinking approximately 30 feet into the
00:27river. Rescuers recovered 22 bodies from inside the submerged bus, including 6 men, 11 women
00:34and 5 children. 24 people have been confirmed dead so far, including 2 women who died after
00:41being rescued. Officials fear more passengers may still be missing.
