00:00Delta-9, also known as THC, is one of the psychoactive compounds in cannabis.
00:05However, according to the cannabis and hemp experts at ACS Laboratory, it may also be derived from hemp.
00:10And because of a loophole in a 2018 farm bill, Delta-9 and other THC products are now being grown
00:16and sold legally in states that even have strict bans on them.
00:19But how?
00:19Well, because hemp is a useful product but always has trace amounts of Delta-9 THC, the bill outlines that
00:25hemp products can be grown but cannot contain more than 0.3% of THC by dry weight.
00:30A loophole? Companies have begun selling products with 0.3% Delta-9 THC per serving.
00:35The problem is that some of those products, like a 12-ounce 0.3% Delta-9 THC-infused beverage,
00:41could still contain as much as 1,100 milligrams of it and still remain under the legal levels.
00:46The problems with this are twofold.
00:48First, the 0.3% dry weight is legal semantics versus scientific, meaning since the USDA has no strict guidelines
00:55for determining the dry weight of food and beverages, companies use liquid mass instead.
00:59Hemp-derived Delta-9 producers also aren't required to test their products for safety, and they might not be as
01:04accurately dosed for that reason.
01:06The other problem?
01:07Hemp-derived Delta-9 THC is also not sold and taxed in the same way legal cannabis products are, meaning
01:12more gray market sales and fewer tax dollars taken in for the state.
01:19Hemp-derived Delta-9 THC byradas host, which, secondly inambatura, would still shepherd the local cannabis customers for security.
01:19Shepola items, which arearians.
01:19Actually, the 97-hズ uma SaaS donation of it and has huir-examined.
