00:00So, for the next song that I want to speak on is called Run This Way,
00:05with my good friend Tiffany Toney, a.k.a. Pete's Camino.
00:09This song has a very interesting story.
00:13I was able to run into Tiffany because a really good friend of mine
00:17runs an amazing traveling organization called Top Shelf Getaways.
00:21Shout out to Sedaris Lane, absolutely incredible artist, actor, and so forth.
00:26So, we're all in this event, everybody's just connecting, chatting, and so forth.
00:30And we just started speaking about music.
00:32The cool thing about Pip, she is a war-winning director, actress, shorting one,
00:39literally produced her own film, incredible, incredible artist.
00:43We just started building on music to start talking about what we want to see in our future,
00:46and we have been speaking about working on a collab ever since.
00:49So, I think maybe February, March, we finally got the time to kind of carve out
00:53to be able to do so.
00:55And once we got together, Run This Way just happened.
01:00The song was done, but I really needed something extra to come through for the chorus.
01:05So, she had some great ideas that she wanted to plan through,
01:08and once we got through, we literally recorded it in-house,
01:11and then it just came out crazy.
01:14She doesn't even know.
01:15So, the sample is from Nanfo Bandai's Dark Souls, the front software of Dark Souls,
01:23specifically the first ball, sorry, the last ball, Lord of Ender of Plants.
01:28Lord of Ender of Plants, yes.
01:29So, I had been wanting to sample something for the Souls universe for Project Forever,
01:34and I wasn't sure where I wanted to draw that inspiration.
01:39So, when I sent that, I had been listening to it.
01:42One of those songs I've been obsessed with for ages.
01:45Playing it back and forth in my mind,
01:48always doing freestyles on top of just a complete acapella.
01:51It was almost a part of Choose Your Adventure,
01:53but it just can't wait, wait later.
01:56And, yeah, man, that's probably my favorite beat on the entire album.
02:02The things that he was able to do with that sample were incredible.
02:07They just literally knocked it out of the park.
02:12And it just has this haunting, like, chamber music sound,
02:16or maybe even remember some of the U-Tank record,
02:18where it's just bass and, like,
02:22and just, like, this haunting, whole type of sound.
02:25So, it really makes you kind of feel like you're walking through a corridor
02:28before you're trying to escape something.
02:31The force itself, Run This Way, is the idea,
02:36and this could be, I guess, considered a love song.
02:39You're trying to lead someone to save you.
02:42But it's also written in the metaphor as if you're a knight.
02:46So, it's this idea that you can save the fair maiden,
02:50that I can protect you with my shield,
02:53that there's no arm that'll come to you
02:56so long as you run this way.
02:59And I think that's a breakdown
03:01where I go into the lines
03:04of these songs from this world's real mind.
03:07Please, just enter the rhymes.
03:10So, I wanted to create this sense
03:13where lyrics can be the same passageway
03:16for whatever it is, you know,
03:18you're running for this world.
03:19I'm kind of with that idea, Run This Way,
03:21literally, is probably my favorite record of my life.
