00:00We have big breaking news coming in from the war zone.
00:03It seems Iran has the ceasefire plan that has been given by the United States,
00:08but Tehran dismisses the idea of negotiating with Washington.
00:13Remember, we've been talking about a 15-point plan that America has put out,
00:19and now Iran seems to be confirming it, that it has received that 15-point American plan
00:25for a ceasefire for the Iran war through intermediaries like Pakistan.
00:32Now, the news coming in is that the proposal was handed over by Pakistan to Iranian officials,
00:39and this is the proposal that U.S. has given, a 15-point ceasefire plan.
00:46So the proposal was sent even as Washington began to move paratroopers to the Middle East
00:52to back up a contingent of Marines which is already over there.
00:57But Tehran seems to be dismissing any kind of talks that could possibly happen with Washington.
01:05Now, Iran's military has coughed at the diplomatic efforts
01:09and launched even more attacks on Israel and the Persian Gulf,
01:14including an assault that sparked a huge fire at Kuwait International Airport,
01:18sending black smoke billowing into the sky.
01:21Now, this is worrisome, as U.S. seems to be sending a proposal,
01:26which is a 15-point proposal, for ceasefire.
01:29And Iran is confirming it, that they have received that proposal via Pakistan,
01:35but they are scoffing at it.
01:37They are saying they're dismissing any kind of talks with U.S.
01:42Remember, this is a war that impacts globally.
01:45All countries, most of the countries are getting impacted by it,
01:50if it's energy, fuel, whatever the reason is.
01:54And joining us now is India Today Global's Pranay Upadhyay,
01:57who's there in Tel Aviv reporting live.
02:00Now, Pranay, the confirmation has finally come in from Iran
02:04that they have received that 15-point proposal of U.S. from Pakistani officials,
02:10but they're scoffing at it.
02:12So, what is the ground situation there?
02:15How important is this ceasefire?
02:17And do tell us, what is the diplomatic tone of this entire exchange?
02:23No, Anjali, let me start first from Tel Aviv,
02:25because there are no signs of de-escalation, at least from Tel Aviv.
02:29Though, for the last past 24 hours, I've been relatively calm.
02:32But I am just standing outside a bunker or shelter in an Ijilov hospital here.
02:37I visited this hospital to see how they have converted their basement parking
02:42into a full-fledged 800-bedded hospital.
02:44And this is the reality of a war and a conflict time here.
02:48And Israel is still continuing its airstrikes over Iran.
02:52And Iran is also hitting out at different locations on Israel.
02:56And this clearly shows that there are no indications of any de-escalation,
03:00at least, certainly not to the terms of what President Donald Trump is trying to indicate.
03:05But the very fact that Iran has received a 15-point proposal from the United States
03:11through some back channels, through Pakistan,
03:14whether Iran agrees to those things or not, we do not know.
03:17But certainly, if you see the various source-based information going around about these 15 points,
03:24most of these points are the same, which have already been agreed by Iran
03:30during the Oman-mediated talks prior to this conflict.
03:34And in fact, Iran has already said that they do not have any intention to build a nuclear weapon.
03:41They are ready for some kind of inspection as well, given the assurance.
03:45And there are certain things which Iran is unlikely to agree.
03:49So we do not know what could be the exact terms on which Iran could agree.
03:53But this also remains a fact, Anjali, that whatever President Donald Trump is saying
03:58and whatever Iranian spokespersons are saying, but certainly there is a back channel going on.
04:03Otherwise, how Iran would have received these 15-point proposals.
04:07And there are certain back channelers, there are some mediators who are trying to engage
04:12with both the United States and Iran to de-escalate.
04:14Because, you know, the world is facing, the world is really under pressure
04:18and facing the energy shortage, the energy crisis.
04:22And as Prime Minister Modi also mentioned a few days ago on the floor of the House,
04:27that, you know, this energy crisis or this disruption of energy supplies
04:33will have its medium-term to long-term impact.
04:35And that's why, you know, countries have to remain prepared for that.
04:39And dialogue and diplomacy is the only way forward to solve any issue.
04:43And if the better sense has prevailed, both the United States and Iran has agreed
04:48or at least engaging with each other, then this should be seen as a positive sign.
04:52But provided these hostilities or at least these strikes, you know, come to a halt.
04:57Because currently what we are witnessing from Tehran and from Tel Aviv,
05:01certainly they are both fighting and they are both hitting out at each other.
05:05Right. Pranay, you know, what Reuters is reporting is that a senior Iranian source has told them
05:12that Pakistan handed over a U.S. proposal to Tehran.
05:16Venue of talks are still being discussed.
05:19Now, of course, if a venue is being discussed,
05:23that means there is significant amount of deliberation over that entire proposal,
05:29even though a public posturing from both sides may be totally different.
05:32You know, publicly we hear that U.S. is sending more troops from Iran.
05:36We hear a scoffing at of the proposal.
05:39So clearly back channel talks, you're saying, are continuing.
05:43But also tell us, how is it unsustainable to go ahead with this war for both the sides?
05:49America, Israel and also Iran.
05:54Let me answer the question about venue first.
05:56Because there were reports that Islamabad could be a probable location for direct talks between Iran and United States.
06:03And therefore, I think the Iranian spokesperson, Iranian officials are trying to indicate that, you know,
06:08the venue is not decided as yet.
06:10So I would see this statement as a clarification to all those talks about a possible venue
06:15or Islamabad could be a place where both United States and Iran could hold talks.
06:21But as far as the cost is concerned, cost is being borne by the entire world, Anjali.
06:26If you see the West Asian nations, they are going through that disruption.
06:31The aviation disruption is there.
06:33The energy supply disruption is there.
06:35The oil facilities.
06:36If you take the Ras La Fan facility of Qatar alone,
06:39because that is important from our Indian perspective and Indian point of view,
06:43that caters almost 17% of our LNG supply.
06:47And the kind of damage sustained by this Ras La Fan facility of Qatar,
06:51it would take at least six months for that facility to get repaired and to go up and working.
06:57And it would also require almost $20 billion for the repair and restoration of that facility.
07:04So you can very well imagine that what exactly is the cost of this damage.
07:09And in fact, most of the East Asian countries,
07:11be it Philippines, be it South Korea, be it Indonesia, be it Japan,
07:14be it Vietnam, all these countries are facing tremendous energy shortages.
07:20We have seen that how countries like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka,
07:24India's neighboring countries have imposed,
07:25and including Pakistan, which is trying to mediate in these talks.
07:29They have also gone for some emergency measures for their energies,
07:34to conserve their energy supplies and to go for some mitigation measures.
07:39Right, absolutely. Thank you very much, Pranay, for all those details.
07:43So clearly a proposal has been received by Iran.
07:46That much is confirmed.
