00:00Iran is at a critical juncture.
00:02The news is tightening when it comes to the West.
00:05Conversations are underway.
00:07The Iranian foreign minister made it very clear that peace is the only way forward.
00:12But should there be war, Iran is prepared for it as well.
00:16So what happens next?
00:18A few things.
00:19There is no long-range missile that Iran is planning, is what Tehran says.
00:24And why?
00:25Because they don't need long-range missiles.
00:27The range that they have of 2,000 kilometers is enough for the bases around Iran in West Asia,
00:35or what you know as the Middle East, to retaliate and respond to any threats that Iran faces.
00:42Secondly, there is massive support that Iran gets from two very important allies and partners, Russia and China.
00:52The economics is shifting.
00:54This is not a country that is stifled, although it is, but not stifled absolutely because it still has support
01:01from Russia and China.
01:03But when asked whether if they will seek help from Russia and China, Iranian foreign minister very clearly said that's
01:10not going to happen because they can defend themselves.
01:13The message from all these allies and partners very clear that they do not want war, that everybody wants peace.
01:21Because should there be a war, and there are many within Iran who are seeking change, reform, and maybe regime
01:28change.
01:28But should there actually be war, the economic situation is going to be so bad that everybody is going to
01:34be feeling the pinch and the crisis.
01:37And therefore, they will turn.
01:39They will turn against the Western attacks that you've seen in the past in the whole of West Asia and
01:46the Middle East as well.
01:46So that's another aspect.
01:48There are many aspects that show that at this point in time, nobody really wants war.
01:54War does not serve anybody's purpose.
01:56But how can they come to peace?
01:59Through the talks.
02:00The first three rounds of talks have concluded, Geneva being the last.
02:05And now, the next round of talks are going to be in Vienna.
02:09How is that really going to go forward is something we'll have to wait and see.
02:15The geopolitics of Iran aside, there is a real economic crisis.
02:20I spoke to a few people from Iran, and this is what they had to say on how they're dealing
02:25with the situation, how things are not absolutely fine.
02:29There is a call for reforms, and this is what they have to say.
02:32Tell me, I see a lot of life, a lot of people outside, but truly, what is it that you're
02:42looking at when you see Tehran, when you see your country?
02:46Okay, so what could be seen right now is not exactly just the real image of, you know, what people
02:55really feel, or it is, you know, it doesn't just prove that they are so excited about their life, and,
03:05you know, they are so satisfied about what they are experiencing.
03:11It's quite against just, you know, about people's feelings and about people's emotions.
03:19It might be because everyone just knows them responsibly right now to survive and keep going, but just majority of
03:28people are really against this system, this regime, and just they wish they could bring a lot of changes.
03:36There are many evidences these days, and the best evidences would be just what is happening in the universities these
03:44days.
03:44The universities like Sharif, you know.
03:48The protests that are continuing right now.
03:50The protests, yeah.
03:52They are exactly the best proof, I can say, how people are against or are opposed to the idea of
04:00this regime, and they know how cruel, how brutal they are, not to give them enough freedom, just to force
04:09a lot of people to be living in such a terrible economic crisis.
04:13Right, Sarah, a lot of women have suffered a lot, you know, here, but the protests, women trying to reclaim
04:22their space, do you think that's the reason why we are seeing the moral policing in Iran going down?
04:30That a lot of people are not coming and saying, wear a hijab, is that something that is changing a
04:35little?
04:35Just, you know, about the veil or about the hijab, it is quite different, because just, you know, it was
04:44connected to the politics of the government, I think.
04:48In this case, it was the only freedom which was given.
04:51But the reason why people protested against government four years ago was not only because of just veil, or just,
04:59yeah, or mass, I mean, it's actually this agreement against government.
05:06You know, it was not the only demand that people requested.
05:11It was something a lot, much more, and actually, freedom is not just limited to the appearance, it's limited to
05:23what people can say, or just can present.
05:27Sia, in terms of expectations from the government, what do you want from the regime over here?
05:33You know, we just don't need anything more, you know, we just don't hope, we just, we're really tired, we
05:48just want something new, we just don't know how to live like this.
05:57Because, this lady is right, the tax, the crisis, everything here is hard.
06:05And more of that, we don't need war, we don't want to have a war.
06:10Of course, everywhere in this world have any, like you, like you, I think, have a, with your neighbor.
06:19But, this, in our country, it's different, you know, because we people live here.
06:27We really don't think like our government and regime.
06:31You don't?
06:32No, most of us, I think, maybe 60 or, maybe 70% of us don't think like them.
06:40Okay, but do you also think that the West does not think the way they should think of Iran and
06:45the people over here?
06:47You mean?
06:48The US and West, yes.
06:50Of course, every government people, the first thing is their people, not another people like Asian people or, we are
07:03in not property of what they think.
07:08They just do what they have to do for their people.
07:12And we are in the second, third thing or choice for them.
07:19There is a significant Indian population in Qaum who come for religious studies.
07:24There is an Indian advisory that has been issued for Indians to leave Iran.
07:28But listen to what Indians in Qaum are saying about the situation, how they see Iran, how they see the
07:35conflict, and whether they are going to leave Iran anytime soon.
07:40Why are you still here when there is an advisory for everybody to leave?
07:44Because you are also here that you are seeing there is nothing such that there will be war or something.
07:49And we feel very safe here and peaceful here.
07:54But should there be, should the situation become serious?
07:59How are you going to then look at leaving?
08:04Because then you will have to depend on the Indian government to evacuate.
08:07I was here last time when there was a 12-12 days war.
08:10And I was saying there was very normal.
08:12So hopefully I won't leave.
08:14I will be here.
08:15And we don't think that there will be war.
08:17Because Iran is also prepared.
08:19And Iran has his own trust in God.
08:22So I don't think that the US or any other allies will dare to attack Iran.
08:28Regarding the negotiations between US and Iran, Iran has been on the front foot.
08:35Iran has made sure that none of the demands of Americans are accepted.
08:40First of all, it was in Turkey.
08:41Iran said no, it should be in Oman.
08:44Then it happened in Oman.
08:45Iran said we are not going to speak to you directly.
08:47We do not feel you are worthy enough that we can speak to you directly.
08:51Because you betrayed us in the past.
08:53So they said we will speak to you indirectly.
08:55America accepted that as well.
08:58America put four conditions initially.
09:00They said nuclear enrichment, ballistic missiles, proxies and regime change.
09:04Iran said the last three, forget it.
09:07We are not going to talk about it.
09:08Only nuclear enrichment.
09:10Once again, America accepted it.
09:12So if you look at it, if you look at the negotiations perspective,
09:16Iran is on the front foot, not on the back foot.
09:18Ultimately this is an industry model.
09:21We have to stay here.
09:21The 해서 continue to start on the first and second three months behind us.
09:26We are not going to talk about wiring.
09:33Almost all of them in general.
09:33We don't know where albo niet of thoseÇ 조woners are in Turkey.
09:38We have access to the last couple of thelagen when we call abroad and then
09:43when we are doing coalitions altogether.
