Transcript
00:00This is an exclusive conversation with the supreme leader of Iran's representative here
00:06in India, Ayatollah Hakim Elahi.
00:09Ayatollah-Sahab, thank you so much for joining us here on India Today.
00:13Let's begin with the big news.
00:16Huge relief for everyone in Iran with a temporary ceasefire.
00:22Your first reaction.
00:25First of all, I would like to thank you for having me, and I would like to congratulate
00:32all three people in the world, especially my dear brothers and sisters in India, and
00:43I'm thankful and I express my sincere gratitude and thankful to all Indian medias because during
00:52the 40 days ago, they were stunned to meet the justice, freedom, and really they could
01:01cover nicely this war.
01:05And finally, President Trump wanted to get unconditional surrender from Iran.
01:15He was the one who surrendered and submitted himself to Iran and accepted all Iran conditions.
01:28And he accepted that the war is not the solution, and by war everyone will suffer.
01:37And they understood that they have to stop this war.
01:41Okay, you make a very important statement here.
01:44You're saying America surrendered, but Washington is claiming victory, sir.
01:48How do you see the fact that Tehran and Washington both are saying that we have won, that this is
01:54our victory?
01:56Yes.
01:58Yes.
01:58Yes.
01:58What is the criteria of victory?
02:01How we can say we have victory or not, we won this war or not?
02:07They wanted regime change, as they said, within three days.
02:12And they said that after the war, the map of Iran will be changed.
02:19And additional to that, they said that we will have control over the oil of Iran, and they
02:28didn't have any achievements.
02:31They said that we want to have all uranium from Iran, and the enrichment of uranium should
02:41be zero, but they didn't have it.
02:44Right.
02:45So, is it their victory or Iranian victory?
02:50Right.
02:50Ayatollah, the fact that there are two things.
02:54One is that Iran has also accepted to go to the negotiating table with the 15-point proposal
02:59of America.
03:01And America has accepted Iran's 10-point condition.
03:05And in that, you have uranium enrichment, you have sovereignty over Strait of Hormuz, and
03:12you have non-aggression.
03:14What are the non-negotiables for Iran?
03:17Things that Iran will not budge?
03:21Yes.
03:23Yes.
03:23Actually, at the beginning, some days ago, the United States offered 15 conditions, and
03:31he wanted Iran to come and negotiate it based on these 15 conditions, but Iran didn't accept.
03:39And Iran is the one who submitted its conditions, and it was accepted by the United States of America.
03:49America.
03:49This means the winner of this war is Iran, because they accepted this one.
03:57And Iran mentioned 10 conditions by which they are going to negotiate within two weeks.
04:09Okay.
04:10But in terms of Strait of Hormuz, has the status of Strait of Hormuz completely changed?
04:17Is that something that Iran will control?
04:20Or will you be willing to accept that it's a strait that should be open for everybody free of cost?
04:28Actually, before this war, the Strait of Hormuz was open.
04:40But within 40 days, there was an unsecure situation.
04:46And due to the war, some countries couldn't pass through this strait.
04:53And now we want to have very good relationship and friendship with all countries.
05:00And we don't want to change anything.
05:03Yes, we should have our control over the strait, and we don't allow the enemies to use it against us.
05:10Okay.
05:11Do you trust Israel in not carrying out attack?
05:14Because this is a double-sided ceasefire where Iran stops attacking, and so do Israel and America.
05:22Do you think Israel will abide by the agreement?
05:27Actually, this is under negotiation, but it's not final decision.
05:32They are going to negotiate it.
05:34Now, there is not any authentic statement issued by Iran or any other aspects or angels that they want to
05:46do something.
05:47This is just only news from the media.
05:49Right.
05:51Dr. Elahi, the fact that Pakistan has been chosen as the venue and the mediator.
05:57Your reaction on whether if Islamabad was the only option left for Iran?
06:07Yes.
06:15Go ahead, sir.
06:16Is Islamabad the only option for Iran right now?
06:20No.
06:21No.
06:21Please, you know, we didn't ask any country to be a mediator between Iran or any other United States.
06:32But some countries have come and gathered together to stop this war.
06:38And one of them is Pakistan.
06:40And they started negotiating with two sides to bring ceasefire and to stop this crisis.
06:49Okay.
06:50And in terms of the conversations that are going to take place, are you in touch with your Supreme Leader,
06:56Moshita Bakham and I?
06:57Is he on board?
06:59Who is calling the shots on the ceasefire negotiations?
07:04Actually, we have the council under the leadership of the new Supreme Leader and they are going to take decision
07:14for this very important issue.
07:17And fortunately, the Ayatollah Moshita Bakhamini has very, very, is very good, has very good, healthy and he is supervising
07:36issues.
07:38And everything is under his control.
07:41Okay.
07:42Dr. Eli, thank you so much for making our time and speaking with us.
07:46You are welcome.
07:47I would like also to express my gratitude and thankful to you, especially because you have done a lot and
07:54all our media in India.
07:57Thank you very much.
