00:09Erika is the first game of Flavorworks
00:12where we're trying to merge the worlds
00:14of film and video games in a way
00:16that no one's really done before.
00:18In the game you're kind of like the conscience
00:20or the voice in the head
00:22of this young woman called Erika
00:23and you're guiding her on her journey through the story
00:26and some of the ways you do this is
00:28through traditional storytelling
00:30game mechanics such as dialogue choices
00:32but more importantly you can
00:34touch the world.
00:36It's almost like you're a surrogate to Erika's touch
00:38and so that can be like brushing dust
00:40off an old book and flicking
00:42through the pages to find all these different
00:44answers out about her past
00:46or about the things that are going on in this world
00:48and also whether it's
00:50interfacing with another character such as wiping a tear
00:52from their cheek. But we even don't stop there
00:54we do some really cool things with this
00:56tech we've built like being allowing you to
00:58pull the focus in the camera itself
01:00and really modeling this world
01:02to feel like it's 3D
01:04and solid as opposed to you know
01:05just a flat video on a screen.
01:09The way that you play Erika is actually very simple
01:11you just turn on the game and you get your phone
01:14or your controller and you use your phone
01:16to interact with the world
01:17in the way that you expect that this world
01:20should behave. So if you see something you should be able
01:22to touch, you can touch it. If you
01:24see a moment where Erika can
01:26make a decision, you can make that decision for her
01:28and you can just live through this story.
01:31Erika is a
01:32young woman, she's the protagonist
01:34of the story.
01:36She's had this
01:38incredibly traumatic childhood event
01:40in her past
01:42and now it's sort of followed her
01:44into her adulthood. She's found herself
01:46at this place called
01:48Delphi House and
01:50it's this really mysterious place
01:52and things are starting to connect to her past
01:54and it's all about the player
01:56connecting the dots and figuring out
01:58what's actually going on here.
02:01I think it's incredible that we actually have
02:04PlayStations on set
02:05so that people can film
02:08something and then we build it into the game
02:10and then two days later
02:12they can just grab a controller
02:14and experience the world
02:17that they were creating two days ago
02:19and make sure that everything's
02:20up to scratch and everything's perfect
02:22and everything's as interactive as we want it to be.
02:25This is the first time that live action
02:27in the games really worked in this way
02:29where you can reach out and touch the world
02:31and have this world react to you
02:33in a meaningful and tactile way.
02:35So we just really can't wait for people
02:37to pick it up and play.
02:46our experience is
02:47Minuten
02:51if you're ready,
02:52you
