01:13And the next thing I know, the phone rings, and I pick it up and say,

01:18And I'm going, wow, so I hear you want to work for Marvel Comics.
01:22Yes.
01:24Stan had a mantra.
01:26There are three rules.
01:27Get your book in on time.
01:28Make sure it's good.
01:29Don't be a pain in my ass.
01:30Any two out of three, you've got to keep your job.
01:33In Dark Phoenix, Jean found herself wrapped up in a series of circumstances
01:38that she was unprepared for.
01:40She makes a moral choice.
01:42And for better or worse, that's the only way she can find
01:45to make amends for what she's done.
01:48Jean was his total favorite.
01:51I think partly because he had given her such a hard time
01:53through so many issues, and he'd seen how strong she could be.
02:01For me as a writer, I want them to fall in love with these characters.
02:06I want them to see them as real echoes or parallels with their own lives.
02:13Dark Phoenix is the ultimate expression of the darkest shadow in everyone's soul.
