00:33There are points in the story where we wanted the player to really feel overwhelmed.
00:37It was important for the plot to say at this point the players feel really desperate.
00:43There's nothing they can do. Things seem way too out of control.
00:46So we actually designed rooms in the game where we would throw just an insane number of enemies at the
00:52player.
00:53Or we would sort of not put much health or ammo around so that you were in a really desperate
00:58situation.
01:04We're making sure and coordinating a large group of people on the team to make sure every one of these
01:09horror moments pays off in a way that's scary and fun for the player.
01:14If you're playing the game and it's just action, action, action, action every step of the way, it's really going
01:19to be hard to scare the player.
01:21And what we're doing in Extraction is making sure that we kind of retain a similar pacing to the original
01:26Dead Space that kind of gives you those highs and lows.
01:29So once you're kind of in one of those lows and you're not sure what's going to pop around the
01:32corner, maybe we hit you with something or maybe we don't.
01:35And we continue to have that tension build until we do hit you with a scare moment.
01:46We have a glow stick mechanic that you could be shooting, but your light is slowly fading away, right?
01:53And you can't see guys as close as you'd like to, or you see sort of shadowy forms.
01:57A lot of great fear comes from fear of the unknown and not really being able to see what's going
02:04on completely.
02:05We want the light to be playing across things in sort of interesting ways that makes it sort of, what
02:11is that over there?
02:12And sometimes it's nothing and sometimes it is something.
02:14And that kind of keeping your brain engaged with the visuals and not just having a bright world that's static,
02:21that really keeps the fear coming.
02:33I think one of the greatest things about this game is that it really feels like you're playing a character
02:38in a horror movie.
02:40The camera, the way that we frame all the action and the sort of cinematic feel you get from an
02:46authored camera really, really immerses you like no game that I've ever seen before.
02:57Now let's的 it briefly
02:58Ooh, yeah, we'll walk just there like a part of a moment.
03:04We'll walk just there like some scenes and you end up.
03:04And you'll have to talk to you.
03:05I haven't got any more столkes then.
