01:00As I was playing them, I found them to be a lot frustrating.
01:03I didn't feel like the guy that I was supposed to be.
01:07In reality, that kind of fantasy of playing like this kind of stealth agent,
01:12if you're spotted, it shouldn't be like mission failure, you know?
01:17Like it should just be that kind of next step of the evolution of the action.
01:22With conviction, we brought this new layer of action.
01:28Stelte games, they can be permissive and they can be spectacular.
01:32And how we do that? It's by allowing players to go into an action loop and then come back into
01:37stealth.
01:38The gameplay loop that we have in Spender's Cell Conviction is what we call PEV.
01:43Prepare, execute and vanish.
01:45It perfectly describes the new gameplay that we are bringing forward.
01:50It's not you play stealth or you play action, you play both at the same time.
01:55What we're really allowing you to do now is approach these missions however you want.
01:59This is what I want to do, this is where I want to go. Bang, I do it.
02:04If you approach the enemies in a stealthy fashion, you can then be rewarded with a mark and execute.
02:11Mark and execute is a new gameplay system that we've created for Splinter Cell.
02:17And the core philosophy is basically having the player able to master Sam's skills.
02:24Like you have classic scenes in movies when people breach a room, pull the pistol out, bang, bang, bang.
02:29Three shots will kill three guys.
02:31We want the player to be able to experience that kind of thing.
02:34Basically, when you're in the shadows, you can observe the enemy and prepare your plan or your tactic.
02:40You have a look around, see which enemies you want to target, bang, click the right bumper, mark appears on
02:46his head.
02:47Go for the next guy, mark appears on his head.
02:49And then at any time you want, when you're in the right position, press Y and then you'll unleash like
02:54a barrage of bullets at these guys.
02:56You can even mark lights, all different objects.
03:04Being able to orchestrate the battle, orchestrate the attack in a very feral predator way that just makes this game
03:15amazing.
03:16Everyone is still finding new and cool ways to use mark and execute.
03:22We're doing it fast because we want you to feel like a predator, like a panther.
03:27You got Sam moving in such a way that he never moved before.
03:30He's just doing moves that are just powerful.
03:34You know, you get seen by the enemies, they start shooting at you, they start engaging you.
03:38And then, if you want, you just turn a corner, you hide in the shadows, you break the line of
03:43sight with your enemies.
03:44And then automatically, what we do is we make appear your silhouette, your last known position.
03:50The last known position, it is a visual representation of where the enemies last saw you.
03:56Like a figure of you will appear there, like a ghostly kind of figure.
04:02What that does is it tells the player, good job, first of all, you've broken line of sight with the
04:07enemy.
04:07They don't know where you are.
04:09But also what it does is that it tells you that the enemy is going to concentrate on that last
04:14known position.
04:15So you know where they're going, you know where they're looking.
04:18So you can flank them, you can ambush them, so you can really play with them the way a cat
04:23would play with a mouse.
04:26The hardcore Splinter Cell fans and the hardcore Shooter fans are going to really appreciate what we've done.
04:31It's just so cutting edge, and I was blown away.
04:34We're really happy with what we have.
04:35I think we have a unique mix of stealth and action.
04:39Storytelling's great.
04:40Even more fun and high impact.
04:41That is finally a game that everybody wants to play as a stealth action game.
04:46We'll be right back.
