00:37So now let's jump in and see the righteousness system in action.
00:40This is an encounter with a damned soul in Hell.
00:43Now you're going to find these characters throughout your adventures in the game.
00:46Now these are either mythological or historical figures, such as Emperor Frederick II here, who's found in heresy.
00:52Now player choice is rewarded in these interactions by leveling up as either righteous or unholy.
00:57Now on the left-hand side, you're going to see Dante choose the punishment.
01:01And he's going to receive ten unholy points for this really punishing action.
01:05This is one of my favorite animations in the game, and this is a time when you don't want to
01:08be Emperor Frederick.
01:12Just brutal.
01:14And so on the other side, we're going to see Dante absolve this damned soul, and he's going to receive
01:19ten righteous points for this.
01:20And now Emperor Frederick is going to actually be lifted from his burden, and he's going to be able to
01:24leave Hell.
01:27Now these righteous and unholy decisions occur in second-to-second combat as well.
01:32What you're going to see here is combat with a throne demon.
01:35Now this is another one of our fallen angels of the underworld.
01:37And when you battle these characters, you'll have a chance to do a finishing move.
01:41And what you'll see here on the left-hand side is an unholy finishing move.
01:46Again, another punishing animation.
01:49And on the right-hand side, you're going to see a righteous absolution.
01:54A little kinder.
01:55Now there are a variety of finishing moves for all the demons and the various minions that you're going to
01:59fight throughout the game.
02:01And all these decisions that you're going to make in each and every circle of Hell are going to impact
02:05how you upgrade your character's abilities.
02:11Okay, and the more righteous you are, the more powerful your holy-powered cross attacks become.
02:15And the more unholy you are, the more destructive your sight becomes.
02:18You'll also have magic attacks that are either righteous or unholy.
02:21It's a nice reflection upon the themes of the poem in second-to-second combat as well as hour-to
02:25-hour gameplay.
02:27Now before I leave, I want to announce one more thing.
02:29Europe will go to Hell on February 12, 2010.
02:33And North America is going to go to Hell on February 9, 2010.
