01:03We've got a lot of experience making racing games, but it was a big challenge for us to take our
01:08experience and move it into the action game genre. We wanted it to look more like a movie than a
01:13simulation.
01:15All of the actual effects in the race are triggered remotely by the player from their car. So around the
01:20world there's loads of explosives that have been primed in buildings and in structures on the edge of the track.
01:25And as the player races around and they do things like drifting, overtaking, jumping, drafting, you earn what we call
01:32the power bar. And when each segment of the power bar is full up, that actually gives you the ability
01:36to trigger remotely one of these explosives.
01:41You'll find inspiration in the game from a lot of great movies. Anything that looks like it shouldn't be done
01:46in a video game, we're trying to do it.
01:48We've taken all of the elements that you normally find in a racing game HUD and we've kind of tried
01:52to centralise them behind the car. It's working really well because it frees up the rest of the screen and
01:57whether you're going to have all these effects and explosions, you're not going to be hidden by HUD.
02:00It's a racing game. You're on that number one slot. But the other key thing with split second is you
02:05really want other races around you as well because you want other cars there to drop bridges on, blow holes
02:10in the road in front of them and that kind of thing.
02:11And as you can see from these visuals, the veteran developers at BlackRock are determined to challenge your thumbs and
02:18amaze your eyes.
02:19And as you can see from these visuals, we've got a lot of fun and amaze your eyes.
02:20To be honest, we're going to be honest with you guys.
