01:00Every base needs power, so the next thing we'll build is a power plant.
01:04I want to note that build times have been sped up for the purposes of this demo.
01:08Of course, in the final game, buildings will not build nearly as fast.
01:13And I want to call your attention to the scaffolding that you see as we build this refinery.
01:17In Red Alert 3, the Soviet faction builds up on the map,
01:21and while the scaffolding is up, the building is under construction and vulnerable to attack.
01:26So we've built our refinery next to one of these new ore nodes.
01:30In Red Alert 3, players mine resources from harvestable ore nodes that are invincible
01:36and can be used by any faction at any time.
01:39The resource mechanic is very simple.
01:42Build one refinery, get one harvester, and that harvester can farm one ore node.
01:47It's nice and simple.
01:48So as we pan over here to the southwest, we find this little island with an observation tower on it.
01:54If we can capture that observation tower, it might provide us some valuable intel.
01:59So we're going to build a barracks, and out of that barracks, we're going to build an engineer.
02:04The engineer, of course, is a classic CNC unit that we use to capture enemy and neutral structures.
02:12We're going to run our engineer down to the beach, and with a simple contextual move command,
02:18he's going to transform into his naval equivalent.
02:23Now, in Red Alert 3, not all units are amphibious, but obviously the engineer is.
02:28His amphibious form has him in a little Zodiac motorboat.
02:32We're going to run him over to that observation tower and capture it.
02:37That reveals shroud, our radar comes online, and yikes, look at all that blue.
02:42This map is crawling with allied forces.
02:45So the good news is we know where the allies are.
02:48The bad news, well, I bet they know where we are too.
02:52So we need to get busy building up a force to assault that allied base,
02:56and that starts with some additional power.
02:58We'll need a war factory.
03:04So those allied sentry bombers appear to be taking our presence here a little personally.
03:08It definitely looks like our cover's blown.
03:12We have to get our power plants back online,
03:14but those bombers will be back if they see that we're rebuilding.
03:18We need to protect these new power plants.
03:20We're going to build a few bullfrogs.
03:22The bullfrog is the Soviet's primary troop transport.
03:26But fortunately for us, it's also armed with a powerful anti-aircraft flak cannon.
03:34This time we're ready for those sentry bombers.
03:46They won't be bothering us anymore.
03:48Okay, we need to take a look at what we're up against.
03:52We're going to create a patrol of sickles and investigate that allied base.
03:57The sickle is this imposing spider walker.
04:01It has three machine guns.
04:03It's a powerful anti-infantry unit.
04:05We're going to run it up through the city center here.
04:19Here's a whimsical red alert structure, the brewery.
04:23Look at that bench toppling technology.
04:25Best in RTS.
04:33Uh-oh.
04:34Looks like we have some allied tanks on patrol here.
04:37We need to get out of sight fast.
04:39We're going to use the sickle's secondary ability to leap up onto this bluff.
04:45In Red Alert 3, units at higher levels of elevation are invisible to the units below them,
04:50so we should be safe up here.
04:52It's a good thing, too.
04:54Those allied guardian tanks strike a flexible balance between speed, armor, and offensive punch.
05:01They would have made short work of us.
05:14So now we have a new patrol coming into range, but this time it's an infantry patrol.
05:18And remember that the sickle is an anti-infantry vehicle.
05:26Ouch.
05:27That's going to leave a mark.
05:31They make short work of that patrol.
05:35The city is crawling with allies, so I think we're going to try a different approach.
05:40Let's make a break for the coast.
05:42Hopefully we can sneak into that allied base without encountering more enemy resistance.
05:54Uh-oh.
05:55Those are assault destroyers.
05:57They're lethal to our sickles.
06:00So we need to skirt around the edge, stay out of range, and hope that they don't see us.
06:05Oh, and they have seen us.
06:08And unfortunately, they're amphibious units, too.
06:11With those guardian tanks there, we are caught between a rock and a hard place.
06:16We're screwed.
06:21Ugh.
06:22And now our base is under attack.
06:24We've been so busy that we haven't done a very good job of preparing our base defenses.
06:28Those guardian tanks are shredding those power plants, and it's not going to take long for them to finish off
06:34the base.
06:34Looks like we have to make a run for it.
06:38We've packed up our MCV, and we're making a dash towards the ocean.
06:42As you can see, the MCV is another one of our amphibious units.
06:49This is probably a good time to talk about how Red Alert supports naval gameplay like you've never seen before.
06:56This time, we're bringing Navy right into the center of our game design.
07:00Previous Red Alert games have certainly featured naval gameplay, but not as predominantly as we do in Red Alert 3.
07:07And this is manifest in several ways.
07:10We've already shown you a few of our amphibious units.
07:13Again, not all units in Red Alert 3 are amphibious, but many are.
07:18Amphibious units take on different capabilities or have different statistics depending on whether they're fighting on land or in the
07:26ocean.
07:27But base building on water is the most dramatic indication that Red Alert 3 takes Navy very seriously.
07:33And it really adds a whole new dimension to the gameplay.
07:36Now you need to ask yourself, where is my opponent's base?
07:39Should I pursue a heavy armor strategy, a more typical RTS land-based attack,
07:45or do I need to get out into the oceans as quickly as possible?
07:49There will also be ore nodes in the ocean.
07:52Ignoring the seas will give your opponent a significant economic and strategic advantage.
07:58Most other RTS designers have a tendency to keep Navy at arm's length or to ignore it altogether, but not
08:05us.
08:05In Red Alert 3, rule the oceans and you'll rule the world.
08:10So we've built up a pretty nice base here.
08:13Lots of power, a naval yard.
08:34Now we're going to build a structure that we haven't seen yet, the airfield.
08:42Let's take the initiative and go on the offensive.
08:46We're going to build a small squadron of twin-blade gunships
08:49and hunt down those assault destroyers who killed our sickles.
08:53Time to exact some revenge.
09:07And those assault destroyers are looking for some more trouble.
09:10Fortunately for us, assault destroyers have no anti-aircraft capability.
09:14So our twin-blade gunships, along with those Tesla base defenses, make short work of them.
09:20Let's keep on pushing north.
09:22Hopefully we'll find some more destroyers to mince up.
09:35Uh-oh. Those are Allied hydrofoils, and these guys are all about the anti-air.
09:40They shredded our twin blades.
09:46We're going to move in some Stingray attack boats.
09:49These are a fast attack craft equipped with Tesla technology.
10:00The Hydrofoils are great anti-air units, but they can't defend themselves from a naval or land-based attack.
10:07Luckily, there are no assault destroyers in the vicinity to protect them,
10:11and our Stingrays are having a field day.
10:17From attack to attack to attack...
10:27Damn, those allies are persistent.
10:30It looks like our new base is under attack now.
10:32No, questi sono attacchi droni.
10:34Questo può significare solo una cosa.
10:37Aircraft carriers.
10:40Aircraft carriers
10:41are the jewels of the Allied Navy.
10:43They're heavily armoured
10:44with a large contingent of drone fighters.
10:47We need to counter this quickly
10:48or we're done for.
10:50To do that, we're going to build Dreadnoughts,
10:52the most powerful ships in the Soviet Navy.
10:55They're equipped
10:56with a devastating artillery barrage.
10:59So this is going to be a close one.
11:01The pride of the Soviet Navy
11:03up against those
11:05aircraft carriers.
11:08Those attack drones
11:09extend the range of the aircraft carriers
11:11significantly and can do real damage.
11:16But the coordinated fire from those Dreadnoughts
11:19is extraordinarily effective.
11:24Okay, it's time to end this once and for all.
11:28We're going to prepare
11:29a two-pronged assault force
11:30to take against that Allied base to the north.
11:34On the naval side,
11:35we've got those Dreadnoughts.
11:37On land, we're going to bring up
11:39those Bullfrogs and fill them
11:41with an elite squad of Tesla Troopers.
11:43Tesla Troopers are
11:45a classic red alert unit,
11:46mechanized infantry that walk around
11:48in these cool power suits equipped
11:51with Tesla technology.
11:53We're going to take them up the coastal road,
11:55shadowed by our battleships.
11:58And there's a tantalizing target,
12:01an undefended naval yard.
12:04Once again, the Dreadnought
12:05proves its abilities
12:08against naval units and structures.
12:11But the Dreadnoughts are an extremely effective
12:13weapons platform for offshore bombardment, too.
12:15So we'll move them up and stage them
12:18to take against that Allied base.
12:26At the same time,
12:27we're going to move up these Bullfrogs.
12:30The only way to get infantry out of the Bullfrog
12:33is through its man cannon.
12:35We're going to literally fire those Tesla Troopers
12:37into the heart of this base.
12:40Those Troopers are vulnerable to anti-aircraft fire
12:43as they float to Earth.
12:44But once inside that base, watch out.
12:58The Allied Commander is putting up
13:00a spirited resistance.
13:01But that's a lot of Tesla Troopers.
13:17And there's the Con Yard.
13:19A coordinated attack from our Dreadnoughts
13:21and those Tesla Troopers
13:22should make short work of it.
13:24Looks like we've taught those capitalist pigs
13:26a thing or two about the might and mental
13:28of the Russian people.
13:30Now it's just a mopping up operation.
13:44Whoa, what's this?
13:46So this is a surprise attack
13:48from the Empire of the Rising Sun.
13:50Those King Oni mechs are fearsome killing machines.
13:53Of course, they don't care
13:54whether they're wiping out allies or Soviets.
13:57We have one last trick up our sleeve.
13:59The vacuum bomb.
14:00Let's hope it's not too late.
14:02Wars沒有 shoes in motion.
14:06Three-yaherly cincolinder Sílvino.
14:10Victory for the Motherland.
14:13That concludes this first look at
14:16Red Alert 3's live gameplay.
14:18Red Alert 3 ships this fall on PC and Xbox 360
14:21with a great custom-crafted cooperative campaign,
14:25naval gameplay unlike anything you've seen before,
14:28and more than 60 minutes of star-studded live-action cinematics.
14:33Thanks for your time, and I hope to see you soon at RedAlert3.com.
