00:30As I grew up in the teams I understood that it started with me
00:34it became about us
00:36and as I became an officer
00:38then I understood that I was a mentor for all these young men.
00:43The best advice ever given to me as a leader was from a Master Chief
00:47Make sure you take some guys that are troubled
00:50because you'll never understand how to lead
00:53and you'll never understand what leadership is
00:56until you have to lead somebody that needs leadership.
01:00And I took that on board.
01:02And so when I selected people I had some troublemakers.
01:09I want the individuals that are underneath me
01:13to be like the individuals that I admired who were above me
01:16so that they could go through their careers
01:18and pass that on down to the next generation.
01:23We are unique in that we have a job
01:25and that job is perhaps not popular
01:28but it is a human activity.
01:31It has been with us since the very beginning of time
01:34and it will continue to be with us until we exist no more.
01:39There are guys that do like war.
01:42And they're good at it.
01:44There's no such thing as a utopia.
01:47There are evil people in the world
01:49and they need to be dealt with handily.
