00:00Best advice to look after sheep. Dad told me when I first started was, if you're going to own animals,
00:05look after them before you look after yourself.
00:07So I've always tried to follow that and make sure they're looked after first.
00:11Probably the best advice I've ever had is for sheep to have good feet because they need to walk to
00:18eat.
00:18Rams you purchase is what your sheep will end up like.
00:20Personally with my own sheep was Keep It Simple Stupid and that was from my mentor Rob Inglis who also
00:26works for Elders.
00:29Professionally, yeah keep it simple stupid.
00:33First cousin, he always carries a set of pliers when you're going around everywhere.
00:37And why is that?
00:38Just because you just never know if you'll need to throw it at your dogs or fix a fence I
00:43suppose.
00:44I guess you speak to a lot of blokes and they'll tell you it's long hours, hard work and you've
00:48got to not be afraid to sort of work all night long.
00:51So I guess you've just got to take that into your mind.
00:57Like it's not an easy career or industry.
01:00Like when it's right you've just got to get it done sort of thing.
01:04So I guess some of that advice has been pretty good.
01:07Like you've just got to work hard and that's it.
01:11Probably the best advice with rearing sheep and cattle is just keep an eye on them.
01:17Keep your drenches up to date.
01:21Just check them every couple of days.
01:23Find some problems, get on them quick instead of leaving it long.
01:29Captioning provided for free.
