00:00I've been dealing with the foot pain for 15 years.
00:03When I was given the opportunity to possibly have it removed, I was over the moon.
00:08I'm 113 days away from becoming a right foot amputee.
00:11All started when I was in 4th grade and my teacher noticed that I was limping.
00:15So she let my parents know, which then decided to take me to see a bunch of foot doctors
00:19to try and figure out what was wrong with me.
00:21Her life took a turn for the worst when doctors noticed this.
00:25So you can see my toes there, and then that big gray mass on the bottom is actually the tumor.
00:30Fortunately during the surgery, he realized that it was going to be too complicated and it was not removable.
00:35The skin was actually so tight that it ended up having a lot of bruising and the scar was really
00:40tight when it healed.
00:41Ever since my very first surgery, I actually have no feeling left in the big toe at all.
00:45All of this is completely, I have no feeling at all.
00:48Time goes on, this tumor grew back twice its original size, and we were out of hope.
00:54After more than a decade's worth of treatment and operations, she decided enough was enough.
00:59The day I met this doctor, I told him I wanted a permanent solution.
01:02Some way that I could take my life back and control it, and not let my foot control me and
01:07tell me what I can and can't do.
01:09I told him, hey, I'm not afraid of the idea of amputation.
01:11If that's the only option I have left to get my life in control, let's consider it.
01:15I met with him today, and we scheduled the amputation.
01:18The nurse is about to take you back.
01:20How are you feeling?
01:21Cut it out.
01:23She may have got what she wanted, but the journey is only just beginning.
01:27There it is.
01:29There it's not.
01:30There it's not.
01:31Nubbins is here and well.
01:34I can straighten out my knee.
01:36I don't really have much pain.
01:37I'm pretty consistently taking pain medication.
01:39But on this foot, I have this little thing that it literally feels like a foot massage,
01:43but it's to help make sure I don't get blood clots.
01:45Just got to finish my last round of antibiotics, and I will be free to go.
01:50I'm already dressed and ready.
01:51Just got to go.
01:53Get me out of here.
01:55But this doesn't get off to the best of starts when she arrives home.
01:59I'm in quite a bit of pain.
02:01Last night was pretty rough.
02:03The nerve block wore off kind of all at once, and it just kind of gives you the most extreme
02:08charlie horse pain for endless hours in the back of your leg with no relief.
02:12I've been taking pain medication just to try and help me pass out at this point so I can
02:17sleep through the pain, because if I'm not awake, then I can't feel it.
02:20I've been dealing with the foot pain that I had for 15 years.
02:24That's more of my life with it than without.
02:27When I was given the opportunity to possibly have it removed and finally let the pain end
02:32and be able to start living a semi-normal life for a person my age, I was over the moon,
02:38literally.
02:39It's done nothing but harm to me, physically, mentally, emotionally.
02:42So the moment it was gone, I was finally like, hell yes, it is about me again.
02:48And that's why I feel like I'm able to attack and face the situation with the attitude that
02:54I have, because I'm done.
02:56I was done with it the moment I got cut off.
02:59I was done letting it be what controlled me.
