00:06Today we've got something very special for you.
00:08We're celebrating 20 years of the Settlers.
00:11And to begin with that, let's have a look back at the last 20 years.
00:15It was June of 1993 when we launched the first installment of the Settlers series,
00:21which turned out to be highly popular, not only in Germany.
00:24Released first for Amiga and later for PC,
00:27the first part of the strategy game hit a nerve.
00:30Building a settlement with real-time trade routes was something that had never been seen before.
00:35The player had to build and manage trade routes in order to transport resources to where they were needed.
00:40This game became a major success for Blue Byte.
00:43Three years later in 1996, the second installment of the Settlers was released.
00:48It did not only have much better graphics, but there were several new exciting features as well.
00:52Besides several new professions and buildings, the gradual discovery of the game map was first introduced.
00:59Also new were the four different races to choose from.
01:01Romans, Vikings, Asians and Nubians.
01:05For Benedikt Grindel, who has been working for Blue Byte for more than 12 years,
01:09this was the real kickoff to the Settlers series.
01:12What did this game feel like back then, and what impression did it leave on him?
01:18I mean, obviously, if you look at two screens at the same time,
01:22one of a new game and one of, let's say, Settlers 2, the difference was huge.
01:27But in retrospect, when I think back how I perceived the graphics back then, it was excellent.
01:33I mean, I remember how meticulously detailed the animations were,
01:40and everything was done with such an attention.
01:48So while there was an objective difference, subjectively,
01:52I think it has been very cool back then.
01:56Of course, we have more on the history of the Settlers for you guys,
01:59such as interviews with people who were there back when this journey began.

02:1020 years of the Settlers, of course.
02:12This means there's a new event celebrating this in the Settlers online.
02:16Bibi Mara has all the information for you.
02:22As some of you might already know,
02:24this year the Settlers brand will celebrate its 20th anniversary.
02:28Reason enough for us to make a cool new event around it.
02:32There was the community wish to make an event that is similar to the end-of-the-world event,
02:37so we decided to make a new server competition.
02:40But it will be a bit different from the end-of-the-world events.
02:43The goal will not be to play adventures, but to gather balloons, since it's our birthday.
02:49You can find the balloons in your star house under the event tab.
02:53Just having these balloons will not suffice.
02:56You have to left-click them and click on donate.
03:01You can see how your server performs right beneath your avatar in the options panel.
03:08We invented our new event window.
03:10From now on you will be able to see there all necessary information about the current event,
03:15including the ranking list button, where you can see how your server is performing.
03:21It's not only the content we changed this year, we also changed the system around the server competition.
03:26We will have a qualifying phase during the first days and we will gather the weaker servers into one pool
03:33so that everyone will be able to win this race.
03:37Since we will have a lot of new functions this year, we will have a simple quest chain telling you
03:43the basic new features.
03:44Because it will not be only possible to gather these balloons through quests or adventures,
03:49but through everything you can do in the game, like trading, build buildings or upgrading them.
03:54The things you already know from the Easter event is that you can send your explorer to find balloons.
04:00You can get them through the email window and accept them.
04:04They will then go to your star menu, where you can use them and add them to your storage.
04:09All indirect actions, like I already mentioned, build buildings or upgrading them, will be gathered in an email, which will
04:17be sent regularly to you.
04:18So, don't forget to regularly check your email inbox and accept the balloons, which were sent.
04:25We will have new daily quests, what's basically not new, but this time you will have to play a very
04:31special adventures.
04:32You will get them with a quest directly into your star menu.
04:35From there you can open them and visit them.
04:37They are very similar to the Easter event adventures, so you have to go there and gather things.
04:42But this time everything is a bit changed, because the adventure is completely built of settlers' two assets.
04:49The trick here is, we've hidden some of our settlers' online graphic assets and you have to find them and
04:55remove them.
04:55Each of these islands contains five of these objects you have to remove.
04:59When you found all of them, it's completed and you can go back to your island.
05:04For the settlers of you, who prefer military adventures, we have also something pretty cool.
05:09We will have a second quest chain, which starts on level 26.
05:13There you will have to play two new military adventures.
05:17Here you will have a new story.
05:19The story of the adventures will be that villagers call for your help, because they have something real strange happening
05:26there.
05:27Their buildings are turning into something retro-looking.
05:30You now have to go there with your general, find the source and remove it.
05:34You will soon recognize that these adventures are a bit different than the adventures you've played until now.
05:40But that's all I can say about these adventures, because I do not want to spoil all your fun.
05:44But that are not all sources you can get balloons from.
05:48For all of you who have resources left, you can convert them in your provision house under the tab event.
05:55Here you can convert all resources there are.
05:59The only exceptions are coins and guild coins.
06:02So you gave all the balloons there were and your server is very good performing.
06:06Of course, you can get really cool rewards.
06:08For every server who reaches the 100% limit, you can get the settlers' two original headquarters.
06:16Additionally to this, there is a possibility to get cool retro skins you already saw in the military adventures.
06:24They last for a certain time.
06:26Besides these cool things, you can also get gems and other cool rewards.
06:30Each server who reaches the percentages will get a reward and additionally the fastest server
06:36and the server who gathered the most balloons will get additional rewards.
