00:24For the first time the PS Vita really provided a mobile platform that was capable of really
00:31offering a proper FPS experience.
00:35It was new hardware for us and we thought there's no way we can get the full Killzone
00:39experience onto it but as the project's gone on we realised hey we can get basically everything
00:44in this.
00:44Getting the tech over, making sure everything looks amazing, runs perfectly.
00:49Fortunately the Vita is very powerful and because we've taken across the Killzone engine
00:54we can actually really push and develop the graphics and get the fidelity that we need
00:59to make it live within the family of Killzone games.
01:12It's pretty surprising how much detail you can make out on the screen even if you think
01:17it's just a handheld.
01:18The screen is pretty big and really clear so when you're holding it that close in some
01:22ways it's the equivalent to sitting ten feet away from a TV screen.
01:27You assume that you can barely make out any of the little fine details but you really
01:31can.
01:31It's still a really high definition platform.
01:33there's an intro to one of the missions that sees you dive in and on a kind of wingsuit.
01:41It looks pretty impressive but it's even more impressive when you tell people they can look
01:45around and a lot of people didn't realise they just thought it was a movie and as soon
01:48as they were like really impressive left and right and they were like whoa no way that's
01:52in game and that was the moment you could see people were like oh wow this is impressive
01:57like we've not seen this before on the Vita.
02:01I think the handheld platform really allowed us to look at the underlying structure of
02:06the Killzone game and reimagine it as an experience that can be played anywhere, anytime and kind
02:13of in any way.
02:14You can play really short bursts of game and put it down and come back to it later.
02:18You can play multiplayer on the move just over wifi.
02:21We were trying to offer something that people could just pick up and play with that kind
02:27of immediacy that you don't always get with a home console game.
02:31The other thing that I was really interested in maintaining was the feel of Killzone.
02:36It actually touches the kind of standard Killzone feeling of being a heavy weighty shooter.
02:43So that went through the controls, the animations.
02:46Obviously the two dual analogue sticks made a big difference.
02:48It's a first handheld with dual sticks.
02:50The fact that you can actually have a proper console experience on the Vita is everything.
02:57You can actually get really fine aim adjustments by tilting the Vita ever so slightly.
03:02So lining up that perfect headshot, if you're not great with the sticks, you can actually
03:07use the device itself just to get that.
03:12The button setup is great for a first person shooter.
03:15We've obviously leveraged some of the touch elements in where appropriate.
03:19We have the Brutal Melee system now, which rather than just being a button press,
03:23it will now put you and the guy that you're attacking into a synced animation.
03:27And you'll then have a window to put the gesture in on the touch screen.
03:33You can really see it.
03:35It feels like Killzone.
03:36It looks like Killzone.
03:37It plays like Killzone.
03:38Quite simple really.
03:39The PS Vita is such an amazing piece of kit.
03:42Killzone is a perfect title to bring over to it.
03:44We can really do Killzone justice on the Vita.
03:48Killzone.
03:48It does.
03:49It tires renting.
03:49That's all.
04:09Grazie per la visione!
