00:14The ice looks great, like there's a solid inch in there, right?
00:18This is like a super informal track walk.
00:20Today I just want to see the ice.
00:22I can already see it's going to push me flat right now.
00:25Yeah.
00:27We don't get very much time on the track.
00:29It's a race against the clock.
00:32One of the unique things about being a Bobsleigh pilot is you have to have a couple screws loose to
00:37do what we do.
00:43It's an adrenaline rush that I can't describe.
00:49You feel awake.
00:52You feel alive.
00:53Woo!
00:55But for any athlete, it's all about staking your claim at the Olympics.
01:01You think this will take gold for Canada?
01:04One for 14 and another medal for this Canadian team.
01:08De Bruyne wins an Olympic medal.
01:10Now it's a tie between Canada and Germany for the gold medal.
01:14For Canada, all of a sudden it was one of the top Olympic sports.
01:18The most successful sport in all of Canada.
01:22Since 1998, Canada was winning medals at every Olympics.
01:26For Canada in the gold and they do it again.
01:29On the women's side, it's only ever been USA, Germany, and Canada have won all the Olympic medals.
01:33Canada will be won.
01:36Unbelievable.
01:37The best athletes, best drivers, and best equipment.
01:41Truly, the glory days of Canadian bobsled.
01:45Nobody could walk with us.
01:46But then, it just completely fell apart.
01:52Support for BCS is on thinning ice.
01:54Current and former athletes are calling for a change in management, citing bad governance and a toxic culture.
02:01The sport started going downhill.
02:03One of this country's most decorated Olympians, Kaylee Humphries, is to leave Team Canada and compete for the United States.
02:12Canadian Olympic bobsleigh medalist Christine De Bruyne suspended three years for doping violation.
02:18There's not that many positives in the last few years of this organization.
02:22We lost our way a little bit, but things were about to get way worse.
02:27People in Calgary are saying no to the Olympics.
02:30Well over half, 56% of Calgarians saying they're not interested in hosting the 2026 Games.
02:38Dismantling the top of the bobsled track is now underway at Winsport.
02:43Losing that track is a big blow.
02:47It's like we went to sleep and had a nightmare.
02:49Like, it's the worst thing you could possibly imagine.
02:54You know, you don't get funding unless you're getting results.
02:58But it's really hard to get results if you don't have any funding.
03:01It's a bit of a vicious cycle.
03:05Results have been getting worse.
03:10Drop down in the rankings.
03:13And medals bring notoriety to the program.
03:15You get more media attention, sponsors, the money starts rolling in.
03:19And you can use that to generate even more medals.
03:25So we're really trying to push hard for the next two years before the Olympic Games.
03:30Because our athletes, they're all looking for redemption.
03:44You were going to get a decent entrance into 12 regardless, but I like you made a change.
03:49Yeah.
03:49I've been coaching now for 10 years.
03:51I've seen every step in Cynthia's program.
03:54We expect more out of her now.
03:56The Olympics is the pinnacle of sport.
03:59It's what we're all training for.
04:00And I think this is the year that it's going to happen.
04:05Growing up, I started off in shot put and hammer.
04:08Loved it.
04:10Went to the London 2012 Olympic Trials in Calgary.
04:14And completely bombed out.
04:17But then I was fortunate enough to realize that bobsleigh is a second career sport.
04:24Cynthia Apia.
04:26Cynthia Apia.
04:2952-53 track record.
04:32Cynthia Apia.
04:34Cynthia has been our top girl for a while now.
04:38She's had quite a bit of success.
04:40She's been trying to put herself as a podium threat every weekend.
04:44Really making that last push to these Olympics.
04:59And in the lead up to the Olympics, I was like, shoot, I might actually win this.
05:05Little bump and you can see they're weightless for a split.
05:07Oh!
05:08She's over!
05:09But they are over!
05:11Apia and Richardson Wilson crashing.
05:14Inexperience really bit me.
05:16And I finished in eighth place.
05:17And for Apia, her hopes dashed.
05:22I was starting to worry that you were getting a mental block.
05:24Yeah.
05:25You changed.
05:26I did make a change.
05:28She'll be 35 at these next Olympics.
05:30It's time to perform.
05:31This is her window.
05:35Cynthia's got this nuclear weapon.
05:37Go, go, go!
05:38And that's the way she starts in Monobob.
05:41She's bigger and strong.
05:43Bam!
05:44Woo!
05:48Monobob is just the one athlete.
05:53I have a lot of Monobob podiums.
05:55But I'm still itching to get that first two-woman podium.
05:59Come on!
06:03She wants to transition to being not just the Monobob threat.
06:07She wants to be the complete package.
06:25We've got some new rookies coming on the women's side
06:28and want to see who's stepping up to the plate
06:30and, you know, trying to pick who I want on my team
06:32for the season.
06:39That new girl, Skylar, is going to be close.
06:41She should be pretty good at competing.
06:43She's NCAA.
06:44She excites me, yeah.
06:45Let's go, Skylar.
06:49Let's go, Skylar!
07:01Skylar's brand new.
07:02She's a teftathlete.
07:03Competed at University of Arizona.
07:05Good job!
07:06And to see her come out and be up there with the top girls
07:09who've been racing on the World Cup, that's really promising
07:11for her.
07:12Like, you literally have pushed the same time I pushed.
07:14I pushed a 59 my first year.
07:16You pushed a 60.
07:17So you're, like, right on track.
07:18And the coaches definitely have their eyes on you.
07:20So you gave yourself a pat on the back.
07:22You did a really amazing job today.
07:23Oh, good!
07:24It was super exciting.
07:25My nerves are high.
07:26This is still super new to me.
07:28If testing goes well for you, the sky is the limit.
07:31If you come out and you push a massive number,
07:33you are going on to the top team.
07:35It doesn't matter that you're not experienced.
07:36They're going to give you that shot.
07:41Congratulations on the week.
07:42Thanks.
07:43It sounds like Cynthia's already been chatting with you a bit
07:47about, like, maybe joining her team this season.
07:49And the next two months, you can make some big strides
07:51and, like, be a force, like, right away in the World Cup.
07:54I hope so.
07:55That's the goal.
07:55I think you've got a lot of big opportunities in this sport.
07:59Before this...
08:00Come on, Skyler!
08:04I competed in track and field.
08:05I was a heptathlete.
08:07I was usually 17th or 18th each year out of the whole U.S.
08:12I was kind of scared to see that.
08:14Track and field stopped being my dream.
08:19And that will put her out of the top ten.
08:23I was going to become a high school biology teacher
08:25at a local high school,
08:26but no athlete is fulfilled
08:28unless they, you know, make it to the big show
08:31at the Olympics.
08:33Brand new.
08:34Yeah.
08:36Oh, yeah.
08:37Yeah.
08:38It's every athlete's dream.
08:39And so my goal is to qualify for the 2026 Olympics.
08:44I'll just be like...
08:45The anticipation.
08:48Killing me.
08:50Skyler really just came out of nowhere.
08:52And I think there's a great opportunity
08:53to really mould her into being one of the great ones
08:56in our sport.
08:57I'm excited.
08:58I'm really looking forward to it.
09:13Working with Sin was my first time on World Cup.
09:19Sin and I pushed really well together
09:21because she's so strong
09:22that she gets the sled moving right away.
09:27Then I have that top-end speed
09:28to get us going, like, over the crest.
09:30So we worked really well together.
09:33But we worked like the best of friends
09:36towards the end of the season.
09:37I think tensions were growing.
09:39This is going to affect her downtime here.
09:41Her visor pops open.
09:43Sin and I had a pretty bad crash in Altenburg.
09:45Oh, it's over!
09:46Oh, my gosh!
09:48He basically got sucked out.
09:51I tore my hamstring tendon.
09:56Altenburg, it's a difficult track.
09:58It's easy to crash there.
10:01There was a bad crash on the Swiss team
10:03with some really bad injuries.
10:05And our thoughts go out to Sandro's family.
10:09The brakeman ejected and passed out,
10:11but no one caught the sled.
10:13And he was laying lifeless.
10:14So the sled came back and ran him over,
10:19shattered his hip, cut his femoral artery.
10:23He almost died.
10:25So there was some fear in the air.
10:28Cynthia and Leah crashed in training
10:30the day after the Swiss kid had his bad accident.
10:36So we were already really scared to crash.
10:40Like, someone almost died.
10:42It took people up.
10:44And so Leah chose not to do the race.
10:47She just said, I'm out.
10:48So Cynthia had to race with the spare.
10:52You know, something like that,
10:54it can affect your relationship.
10:59We hadn't really talked much after World Champs until like the first camp.
11:07I kind of went up to her and I was like,
11:08what are you planning to do this season?
11:09Because at this point, I didn't know.
11:13So I said the fastest brakeman will be in my sled.
11:15And I went, okay, that doesn't sound like you mean me.
11:19Come on, Leah!
11:23It got to a point where after two years of working together,
11:26I wanted to see what else was out there.
11:28Maybe a change was needed for the both of us.
11:32The expectations I have on myself are more than anyone else puts on me.
11:36But I'm feeling good mentally and physically.
11:40I'm excited.
11:40I'm ready to go.
11:42Like, race time cannot come soon enough.
11:44I think we're both going to thrive in our new partnerships.
11:58I can just walk our duffels over.
12:00Yeah.
12:01The brakeman has to put their trust in the pilot.
12:04As the pilot's driving down the track,
12:06I swear you can feel the brakeman behind you just wailing you.
12:12In the two-man bobsleigh,
12:14the pilot's job is to take the fastest line down the track
12:17with the least resistance possible.
12:19Let's go!
12:20Come on, Jay!
12:21Good job, bud.
12:23Big push!
12:24The brakeman is all about power.
12:26Here we go.
12:27At the start, they're accelerating the sled.
12:30It's a huge advantage if you enter the track with a high top speed.
12:34The brakeman gets in, holding himself as low as possible,
12:38keep themselves aerodynamic and tight in the sled.
12:41At the end of the run, the brakeman pulls the brake
12:46once you cross the finish line.
12:52It's really hard for a brakeman to push as fast as they can
12:55into this abyss and jump in the sled and put their head down
12:58if they don't trust the pilot they're behind.
13:01It's really important.
13:24The mechanics side of things is huge.
13:26Like, you need equipment running well in order to win a race.
13:30Being a farm girl is probably a little bit helpful in terms of
13:33getting my hands dirty and pulling wrenches.
13:35How often do you put the grease in there?
13:37You do it a couple times throughout the season,
13:39but you don't have to do it every single race or whatever.
13:41Yeah.
13:42All the girls have been around for a while,
13:43so it's like second nature to them.
13:45So they're going through it and I'm like,
13:47wait, what are you doing?
13:48All right, ready?
13:49We'll just slide it.
13:50Two, three.
13:52Whoa!
13:53Whoa!
13:54Okay.
13:55Oh, wait.
13:55I gotta go a little.
13:57Yeah, always lift and slide.
13:58It helps.
13:59I do feel lost a lot of the time.
14:01This one will go on that side.
14:03This will go on the other side.
14:04So this one will go here.
14:06Yeah.
14:07With Skylar being new, Cynthia has to explain everything.
14:10Show her the system, show her how the sled works.
14:12And teacher, really, what is bobsled?
14:14Wait, so this is the front of it?
14:16Yeah, this will always be the front.
14:17Longer, longer on the front.
14:19Short end will always point to the back.
14:21There's a risk of like,
14:23how's this person going to perform under pressure?
14:25These are my shims.
14:27Skylar came in with some great talent,
14:29but she hasn't been down the hill.
14:43All right?
14:45Yep.
14:45It's your turn.
14:46Yeah.
14:48First day of sliding, nobody knows what's going on.
14:51One, two, three.
14:53There's one month at the start of the season in Whistler
14:56where we train together, we test equipment
14:59to prepare ourselves to go to the races.
15:02Good question.
15:03And it all culminates in Canadian championships.
15:07Day one, you come back and you're like,
15:09well, I remember what I'm doing.
15:11Our job as coaches is to keep them focused on
15:13executing what they can control.
15:17We just need to get them in the sled and shake off the rust.
15:19One minute to start.
15:22Track is clear for Cynthia Appiah from Lower Men.
15:25Okay.
15:27Come on, girl.
15:28What makes Whistler scary is the speed.
15:32That two-story drop from the start,
15:37you're already going like 90 kilometres an hour
15:39by the second corner on a track that has 16.
15:42Most tracks, you're not hitting that 90-kilometre range
15:46until, like, halfway down the track.
15:49And then going anywhere from 120 to 150 kilometres an hour.
15:54This is serious.
15:55Like, what we do is actually really dangerous.
15:59Come on, come on.
16:07Let's go!
16:07Woo!
16:08Thanks, guys.
16:09How'd the first one go?
16:10Pretty good.
16:11Honestly, I didn't have the nervousness
16:13that I thought I'd have.
16:14It felt pretty nice being in the back of the sled again.
16:27Okay, Sin, nice line through ten.
16:29Just ease into this a tiny bit.
16:31I'm being picky here.
16:34Yeah, you went in too far and then caught it.
16:37Catch it nice and early but gently.
16:45Ready for two-man tomorrow?
16:47Oh, yeah.
16:47Yeah.
16:48First two-man for Sky.
16:50First run down the bobsleigh track is like nothing else.
16:53Yeah.
16:54As long as they pull the brakes.
16:55I know.
16:56She's gonna be fine.
16:59She'll be fine.
17:01Yeah, I think so.
17:19It takes a heavy set of balls to be able to go down Whistler as your first track.
17:27It's the most daunting experience.
17:30All you see is down.
17:34You can't even see the finish line from the top.
17:38Back.
17:39Set.
17:40Up.
17:41All right, let's go.
17:42Let's have fun.
17:42Yeah.
17:45I've never been down a bobsleigh track so I'm not too nervous.
17:49I'm a little nervous.
17:54We want everybody who wants to do it to get a shot to do it.
17:59But obviously it's not for everybody and if it's determined that it's not in your best
18:03interest to do this sport then we're gonna thank you for your time and say see you later.
18:09So where do these go?
18:10In the sun?
18:11Yeah.
18:12Wherever feels comfortable.
18:16Here we go, Skylar.
18:17Come on, Sky.
18:17Come on, Sid.
18:18So, come on?
18:20Here we go, Skylar.
18:22Here we go.
18:23Here we go.
18:25Here we go.
18:31Here we go.
18:48Here we go.
18:49Let's go.
18:53Here we go.
18:53I don't know.
19:35She didn't break exactly where it's supposed to break.
19:38First time going down the track from the top.
19:40First time going down the track.
19:47You did it!
19:49Yeah, there you go.
19:59First time going down the track.
20:05How was that?
20:07Bumpy as ****.
20:12That was way bumpier than I thought.
20:14Yeah.
20:15Is that a nice spot?
20:16Well done, dude.
20:17You think you're going to die?
20:18Yeah.
20:25Getting your head slammed into the brakes like that.
20:29No one could have prepared me for that.
20:31So much apprehension and fear on her face.
20:34Glazed eyes, white as a sheep look.
20:37Got the shakes a lot.
20:40I haven't felt anything like that.
20:42So it was weird and definitely a bit frightening.
20:46As a pilot, you see where you're going.
20:50You're controlling that sled.
20:52But as a brakeman, you've got your head down and your knees.
20:55That takes a lot of guts.
20:59Our sport is scary, so you need someone that has courage.
21:03I've coached a lot of athletes where the first experience
21:05they had with bobsleigh, they will leave the program
21:09and not come back.
21:24I'm really hoping everything works out with me and Skylar.
21:28If she decides this isn't for me, I'm going to pack it up
21:31and go home, I'm really hooped.
21:36I really put a lot of eggs into that Skylar basket.
21:39She seems super committed, but there's a lot riding on this.
21:52I'm not a contact sport kind of girl.
21:55I don't like the uncertainty of like soccer
21:57where someone could just come in and take out your ACL.
21:59Like I've never been a rough and tumble girl.
22:02Even on the best run, it's rough.
22:04There's high g-force and it hits you fast and hard.
22:06And it's not a comfortable ride.
22:11Here we go.
22:15Back, set, up.
22:38She took a hit, but she kept it on.
22:40I smoked the wall coming out of corner floor.
22:43I hit my face so I could only imagine what it was like for Skylar in the back.
22:47Alright.
23:00Let's go.
23:01Boom!
23:02Oh!
23:02You got it!
23:09Holy .
23:10That one rocked me a bit.
23:12yeah that was a hard hit at a four sorry we good
23:21that was a that was a rough hit that was a mistake
23:24can you turn that camera off just for one second
23:29i've never made that mistake before
23:33are you okay it just scared me a bit yeah it hurt in the moment yeah yeah no that's
23:40that's the lower back for sure that's the lower back it's hurting
23:54all right we'll get it yeah i haven't done that ever so i'm just like pissed at myself
24:03it's okay i know i'm already i'm already feeling better
24:06skylar is surprisingly holding up she's doing what a good brakeman does which is you know get
24:12your pilot spirits back up when they're down in the dumps one two three awesome thank you
24:18i was definitely a bit shaken up um but i'm still getting used to it so i'm so sorry
24:24no no it spooked me in the moment but i already feel better yeah every run is probably like
24:30equivalent to my first run like nervous system shot from the first week
24:47she's a great driver guys i'm so sorry that was awful
24:53coming into the season i'm with a new pilot i'm with mckenzie i cranked you out of six
24:57i wasn't worried i like to give fresh slate i'm sorry that was literally my worst run
25:03i can't wait if that was your worst run i can't wait i love you i'm sorry
25:07it's always interesting to see what teams end up together for canadian championships
25:12i'm sorry that i had to represent no it's okay mckenzie is a good young driver that doesn't always
25:19get the fastest start times and she's teaming up with leah walkenden who's been one of the top
25:24brake women in canada for the last few years but i know we were worried about four so i was
25:28like
25:28leah has been put aside by her usual teammate cynthia so you got two girls that have something to prove
25:37and that's that's really what we're looking for like that made me mad i was like i think it weighs
25:42way heavier on the pilot if something bad happens we need to succeed as a unit to knock down the
25:49other
25:49teams
25:50all right underway we go this is the bump slip championship getting underway this is
26:19the final ball competition it's basically an inner squad game see where the team stacks up against
26:37each other our top ranked canadian championships is super important it can set up your whole season
26:46it can determine whether or not you're going to the world cup or if it's determined that you know
26:50this sport isn't for you then yeah you're going to get cut even though we're all competing for team
26:58canada we're also directly competing against each other and so you always want to be the top of your game
27:04if you don't beat your own teammates you don't get to go compete against the rest of the world at
27:10the
27:10highest level you only have a very small window of opportunity to achieve big things in this sport
27:17but it's the opportunity right and pressure is a privilege it's a shot to go do it
27:23are we doing sin race day sorry not today
27:28they're nervous and they should be
27:31for them it's a dress rehearsal for the season like in the second run you could have just held it
27:36a little
27:36longer i mean it was probably this much off yeah from perfect which is yeah yeah i didn't have as
27:43many points last year so i'm i guess a little bit on the lower rank side
27:49my goal is to compete in both the two women event and the monob event
27:52and ideally be a medal threat in both
27:58cynthia and i we've had a really interesting relationship over the last decade because
28:01we've constantly been put against one another
28:12clear so far yeah control copies were clear from above start through to men's where the barricade is
28:19set and secure for sliding from above our runners clear track is cleared copy that control
28:25uh okay here we go we're at five minutes to start track is clear for cynthia apia track is clear
28:55so strong in the monobob she should do well
29:02you're exiting quarter seven that's going as there's loops 32 5 4 3 there reasonable
29:09a 132 point of speed
29:147.7 finish
29:16a 132 point of speed so it's not my best run i messed up the corporate corners thank you
29:37coming into the race i feel like i've been driving really well the last two weeks and so i had
29:42the
29:43expectation of myself to win but you've got to really like enter into that process and just be
29:47present in the moment track is clear for melissa locals from bob sky
30:07i typically perform better when i'm having a good time i sing in my helmet people probably
30:13i hope don't hear me but
30:15here we go
30:33pretty much textbook melissa local is in first place after run number one
30:46i have one of the greatest jobs in the world so i should have fun doing it right
30:50nice start mel thanks let's be honest we're professional tobogganers like my job is fun
31:01it's disappointing but you just you know lick your wounds and move on to the next run
31:09but does the first seat time still count yeah it's a combined time yeah oh come on both of them
31:15put
31:15together yeah it's not just like best time no they don't choose your best for both sides it's
31:21mine oh i didn't know that i didn't know that either i thought it was the best one track is
31:26clear for
31:27Cynthia and apia from both start i want to win i want cynthia to come second you know
31:36go go go go go go start there 5.70
32:10I'm really disappointed.
32:12I thought I could have done a lot better.
32:14No, I know, man.
32:16Yeah.
32:16You better shake it off and get ready for the two-man.
32:19Yeah.
32:21Cynthia didn't have a great race in the monobob, but there's a chance Cynthia could do much
32:25better in the two-man with Skylar in the back.
32:28Yeah, I don't know.
32:30I'm not having a good time, that's for sure.
32:33Yeah.
32:36It's about to start.
32:37Here we go.
32:54Oh yeah, she's good.
32:59Ooh, I spoke too soon.
33:06She's got enough of a lead, but she messed up.
33:22She got it.
33:23All six sleds down and complete.
33:28First place, low goals.
33:31Yeah, we're going to go.
33:34We lost a game of consistency, so fixed things on the second one that I screwed up on the
33:38first, screwed up things on the second one that I didn't do on the first, but yeah, it's
33:43a good day.
33:44It's a good day.
33:50If you would have had two runs like you did on your second run and finished that second
33:54run, you would have won the World Cup by a lot.
33:56Yeah.
33:57That was a very good run.
33:58It was a very good run.
33:58That's the kind of run you need to do twice.
34:00Consistent.
34:01Yeah.
34:01Yeah, yeah, yeah.
34:02All right.
34:09How you doing?
34:10I've had better days.
34:12That first run you had a little bit of trouble, four, and then second run at the bottom.
34:16Yeah.
34:17You were having a decent run on the second run, but you'd lost your speed.
34:21I know.
34:22This is race one, Cynthia.
34:24I'm not in the right headspace right now.
34:27I know that my teammates are actively cheering against me, and that's hard to compete when
34:32you know that.
34:33Lonely at the top.
34:34I don't feel like I'm at the top.
34:36But you want to win.
34:39I know it's not the best.
34:40The reason it's lonely at the top is because everybody wants to be at the top.
35:07This is the one where the stamp goes outside.
35:09No, remember both the stamps are on the same side on this one.
35:12Do we have the wax off towel?
35:14Put a little schmutz right here.
35:16Today is our two women Canadian championships race.
35:19So we're just getting our sleds ready, and we race in a couple hours.
35:23I always buy the best smelling cleaners and waxes.
35:27We had one that smelled like banana one year.
35:30Ew.
35:30What do you mean ew?
35:31It smelled good.
35:33No, it smelled real good.
35:35Yesterday was a wash.
35:37Today is a new day.
35:38A new opportunity to put down two solid race runs.
35:42See what Skylar and I can do in our first official race together.
35:49Yesterday, there was an upset.
35:52I think a lot of people were happy.
35:54Things got shaken up.
35:56But if you're at the top, everyone's always coming to take your lunch money.
36:01Everyone's coming for your position.
36:03It's a tough place to be.
36:05So there was a lot of pressure on her.
36:08I'm like, you know what?
36:09Like, we've got to effing do this, like, for her basically.
36:12Because I don't want her leaving this weekend feeling defeated.
36:16That's like fuel for me.
36:20I would like to watch your second.
36:23Okay.
36:24Yep.
36:28It all comes back.
36:30Really, those accidental oversteers.
36:32Yeah.
36:32Which I think you had a couple of those.
36:34Yeah.
36:34She has everything she needs to be successful.
36:36Dare I say champion.
36:38Push your guts out.
36:39Yep.
36:41Have a good race.
36:42Thanks, man.
36:42This is her window to perform.
36:45And it's wide open.
36:52This is Skylar's very first race.
36:55And I can tell you from experience, you're shitting your pants a little bit.
37:00First one.
37:01First one.
37:03Here we go.
37:04This is a two women competition.
37:06Six slits here.
37:07A racing for this year's Canadian championships.
37:11Here you go, Sky.
37:12You know what you're doing.
37:12Do your job.
37:13That's it.
37:13We're underway.
37:14The track is clear for Cynthia Appiah and the Skylar Sieben.
37:22Let's go, Ladies.
37:25Go, Go, Go, Go, Go, Go!
37:43Let's go, Ladies.
37:45Let's go, ladies.
37:467, and 31, 8, 8.
37:52141 kilometers an hour, there it is at 55, 06.
38:00Woo-hoo!
38:02Sorry, didn't see the start time.
38:03It's all good.
38:04All right.
38:04You can hop out.
38:07Nice run.
38:08All right.
38:09It was your first race, all good.
38:12Stay in those angles.
38:14Really hit the sled hard.
38:15Dig it out.
38:16Told Skyler to be long and strong in these first 10 meters
38:19because it's a very fast start.
38:21All right.
38:21Sounds good.
38:22Yeah, good job.
38:26The track is clear for us.
38:40A little bit of a smash around the exit.
38:43Oh, doggy.
38:44That is most of the votes in the number three position there.
38:48Woo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!
38:52Good speed there.
38:53Ready.
38:54The track is clear for Leah Walker and Mackenzie Stewart from Oscar.
38:58I'm with Mackenzie.
38:59She's kind of at the bottom of the ranks.
39:01So we're coming into the race with a little bit of an underdog mentality.
39:05Leah's pushed with Cynthia in the past and kind of got a chip on her shoulder.
39:09Oh, my God!
39:10Go, go, go!
39:13I feel a lot of pressure to get her right in the race.
39:16And she can show everyone how good she drives.
39:22But I was shocked when we crossed the finish line in first.
39:28I was like, are you serious?
39:31Are you serious?
39:33That was great.
39:37The money.
39:39I'm so proud of you.
39:44The track is clear for Cynthia Appian and Skylar Sieben from the box store.
39:48She's being pushed aside and Skylar's pushed in.
39:53Let's go Skylar, let's go Den.
39:55Big push ladies, let's go.
40:00Let's go.
40:02Take it out.
40:03Take it out.
40:15Is that a second round?
40:16Five, two, eight, seven, eight.
40:30143 hours an hour, still holding on to 2 days, except the obvious numbers have been done.
40:364-6-7, that's the first year so far.
41:01Skyler, we've got something dynamic going on.
41:07I looked at her and I was like, let's just have our day.
41:13It's ours to lose, but it's not ours to lose because no one expects us to win.
41:266-100 is back from first.
41:29Let's see what's going on here.
41:325-3-9 is the start, 17-2-2 out of corner three.
41:36We have good solid three tenths, and that is increasing.
41:43This could be interesting.
41:45Exiting 7 at 3176, now that lead increasing.
41:51It's going on 4-10 to the second, up 141 followers an hour.
42:01Mackenzie Stewart and Leah Walken in 1st place at the R-494-3D.
42:10That was really good.
42:11I love you.
42:29I just meant so much that Mack got to show how good of a driver she is.
42:34Just to be honest, Leah wants to show Cynthia that she made the wrong choice.
42:38These girls have pride, and Leah kind of came out and stomped on it today, which is great to see.
42:44I don't think anybody's upset when something like that happens, you know what I mean?
42:47It's a good story.
42:48Except for Cynthia.
42:50Maybe, yeah.
42:50Cynthia wants to see her new break when doing good, but Cynthia has to be patient.
42:55In second place with a combined time of 1-49-73, Skylar Sieben and Cynthia Appiah.
43:05I'm kind of like hedging my bets that Skylar and I are the missing piece to getting me on that
43:10two-woman podium.
43:12This is the year that it's going to happen.
43:14And in 1st place with a combined time of 1-49-43, gold medalist Leah Walkadon and Mackenzie Stewart.
43:31Mack helped me, I'm going to cry, sorry, re-find my love of ball setting.
43:38I had a really tough last few years, and I think you succeed when you're having a feel for everyone
43:47in.
43:47We have this carrot called the Olympic Games, and people will go through quite a bit to be an Olympian.
43:56Good job.
43:57Woo!
