00:54Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, I got your hair out here, man!
00:57Come on, now!
00:59Come on, let's do it!
01:00Let's do it!
01:05Ah, that's great!
01:06Thank you very much!
01:08Enjoy yourself, everybody!
01:09Welcome, welcome, welcome to The Tonight Show!
01:12You're here!
01:13That's right!
01:14This is it!
01:16Well, guys, everyone's excited about this.
01:18March Madness is officially here!
01:24Yes, that special time of year when everyone at work secretly watches the games instead of
01:28secretly scrolling through TikTok.
01:30I just love that, yeah.
01:31I do love the tournament, especially the first round, because there's nothing more exciting
01:35than watching Duke take on DeVry University.
01:38It just seems fair, yeah.
01:39I never win the March Madness pool.
01:41Every year, I pick teams based on feelings and vibes, or as it's also known, the Trump-Iran
01:47war method.
01:51I have vibes, yeah.
01:53Yep, March Madness tips off tomorrow, and everyone's filling out their brackets, including
01:57the president.
01:58Check out this video he released with some of his first round picks.
02:01Okay, time to pick up my beautiful, perfect bracket.
02:05Let's see.
02:06Louisville versus South Florida.
02:07I love South Florida.
02:09That's where I hit all the Epstein nothings.
02:11Louisville wins.
02:13UCLA versus UCF.
02:15Are these schools or names of Elon's kids?
02:17I miss that guy.
02:18UCLA wins.
02:19Vanderbilt versus McNeese.
02:21McNeese sounds like McCheese.
02:23My favorite Bayer after Mom Donnie.
02:24McNeese wins.
02:26Vergina versus Wright State.
02:28Vergina wins.
02:29Arizona versus Long Island.
02:31Wow, two iconic iced teas.
02:33Let's throw in some lemonade.
02:35Arnold Palmer wins.
02:37UConn versus Furman.
02:38UConn is what people yell at me in public.
02:40UConn wins.
02:41North Carolina versus VCU.
02:43I caught a case of VCU in the 80s.
02:45So itchy.
02:46North Carolina wins.
02:48Gonzaga versus...
02:49Who are we kidding?
02:50I don't need to see the other team.
02:51Gonzaga wins.
02:52And the overall winner is Trump University.
02:55Tuition's cheaper than gas.
02:57Bye.
02:58Cheaper than a gallon of gas.
03:00Wow.
03:02Of course, the big news is still Iran.
03:06President Trump has been really focused on trying to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
03:10Listen to what he's been saying about it.
03:12First, Trump said,
03:13It's time for our ships to embark on a very dangerous voyage.
03:16Then Carnival Cruise said,
03:18Hey, that's our slogan.
03:23Then Trump said,
03:24Trust me, you've never seen such a tight squeeze.
03:27Then Spank said,
03:29Hey, that's our slogan.
03:31Then Trump said,
03:32Every day, prices are going up.
03:34Then Netflix said,
03:35Hey, that's our slogan.
03:44Then Trump said,
03:45It's chaos, chaos, and more chaos, but we'll fight back.
03:49Then Waffle House said,
03:50Hey, that's our slogan.
03:54Then Trump said,
03:55It's completely empty.
03:56No one goes in or out.
03:58Then Capital One Cafe said,
04:00Hey, that's our slogan.
04:05Then Trump said,
04:06Look, it's not anyone's first choice,
04:08but it is what it is.
04:09And Hunt's Ketchup said,
04:10Hey, that's our slogan.
04:15And Trump said,
04:17It's just so damn hard to pierce through that narrow opening.
04:20Then Capri Sun said,
04:22Hey, that's our slogan.
04:28Come on.
04:32Then Trump said,
04:33It's a bad situation that's completely unrecognizable.
04:36Then Kevin Hart's wax statue said,
04:39Hey, that's my slogan.
04:42Then Trump said,
04:43I've had it with the straights.
04:44It's time to try something else.
04:46Then Grindr said,
04:47Hey, that's our slogan.
04:49And finally,
04:50Trump said,
04:51Hopefully, it will all be over soon.
04:53Then Melania said,
04:54Hey, that's my slogan.
04:55Oh!
04:56Interesting slogan.
04:57These are slogans.
04:59These are...
05:01I know it's going to start.
05:02Hey, that's not...
05:03Hey.
05:06Listen to this.
05:06I read that the Justice Department
05:08just ditched their requirement
05:09that prosecutors have one year of experience
05:11and can now hire them right out of law school.
05:14Yeah, no experience necessary.
05:16It's not good when being a federal prosecutor
05:18has the same requirements as a cashier at Lids.
05:22You know your lawyer's inexperienced
05:23when they think habeas corpus is a Harry Potter spell.
05:29Do you guys see this?
05:30The new head of NASA
05:31wants Trump to reclassify Pluto as a planet.
05:35Yeah.
05:35Pluto is commonly referred to as a small dwarf planet.
05:38Trump heard that.
05:39He's like,
05:39In that case,
05:40we're naming it Planet Marco Rubio.
05:44This is crazy.
05:45Yesterday,
05:45a rare fireball spotted over the eastern U.S.
05:48caused a sonic boom.
05:50Yeah.
05:50NASA's really excited about this.
05:52Here, let me explain what happened.
05:54So, it was quite an event.
05:55A loud boom was heard over the Cleveland area
05:58when the fast-moving meteor
06:00broke through the sound barrier.
06:02Guys, please.
06:03I'm talking about science here.
06:05Thanks.
06:08Anyway, once this occurred,
06:09a bright light was seen in the sky
06:11in the middle of the day.
06:14Guys.
06:15Come on.
06:17I'm serious here.
06:18Come on.
06:21Anyway, this bright light
06:22was a piece of space rock
06:24burning up in the Earth's atmosphere
06:25at the speed of 60,000 miles per hour.
06:27And at this rare phenomenon,
06:29which only happens once every few years,
06:31is also known as a...
06:34fireball.
06:51Sorry, I was wrong.
06:52I was wrong.
06:53I apologize.

09:41of random people
09:42that you think look like me.
09:44And I wanted to show
09:45a few tonight.
09:46Oh, thanks.
09:46Yeah, it's time for
09:47Tonight Show Lookalikes.
09:48Here we go.
09:49Tonight Show Lookalikes!
09:51Lookalikes!
09:52Here's how this works.
09:54I'm going to show you
09:54three photos of people
09:55that you say look like me,
09:57and then we're going to decide
09:58on which one
09:58is the best match.
10:00All right?
10:00Let's take a look
10:01at our first one here.
10:03A lot of people say that
10:04it was sent in by
10:05Tiffany Statman
10:06from Minneapolis.
10:06She was watching
10:07the show Ghosts
10:08and thought one of the actors
10:09named John Blair
10:10looked like me.
10:12Let's see.
10:15You know what?
10:18He's got a solid stash.
10:20I mean, that's pretty good.
10:21Not bad.
10:22Not bad.
10:23He's got a good stash.
10:24Like, this next one
10:24was sent in by
10:25Martina Petsack
10:26in Savannah, Georgia.
10:28She spotted an AT&T ad
10:29and thought the guy
10:30in the ad looked like me.
10:31Here.
10:32Let's take a look at this.
10:38You look pretty chill.
10:41That's not bad.
10:42Oh.
10:43We're down to our last one here.
10:44It was sent in by
10:45Leslie Tuckness
10:46in Amarillo, Texas.
10:48She was on vacation in Rome
10:49and thought the hotel clerk
10:50that was checking her in
10:52looked like me.
10:53Let me see this.
11:02Wow.
11:05That might actually be me.
11:09Where was I?
11:10Why was I in Rome?
11:11You have your giant polo shirt on
11:13and your giant polo tail.
11:14I like it.
11:15All right, everyone.
11:16It is time to decide
11:17by applause
11:18which one looks
11:19the most like me.
11:21Is it
11:21A, the actor from Ghost,
11:23John Blair?
11:24Ooh, silence.
11:25All right.
11:27They all decided
11:27not to clap for that one.
11:30All right, it's not him.
11:31Is it B,
11:31the guy in the AT&T ad?
11:35Oh.
11:36What do you think
11:37it's going to be?
11:37Well, I guess it's got to be
11:38the hotel clerk in the end.
11:45Come on.
11:46Overwhelming.
11:47I also love how great
11:48you guys are.
11:48You really refused.
11:50You refused to applaud
11:51for one or two.
11:52You didn't want to.
11:53We're saving it.
11:54There was not one person
11:55who was like,
11:55oh, we don't want to see that.
11:57That's not you
11:58in the AT&T ad,
11:59but someone thinks
11:59I was the hotel clerk
12:01in Rome.
12:06We have the best
12:08wardrobe and hair
12:09and makeup department
12:09here at The Tonight Show.
12:10Do you want to try
12:11and see if we can look
12:12like the hotel clerk
12:13in Rome?
12:14What do we do?
12:15Take us off?
12:17Thank you, guys.
12:24Where do I...
12:29And do I sit behind the desk?
12:46Hey, not bad.
12:48I kind of like it.
12:49He's a good-looking dude.
12:50All right, that's all the time
12:51we have for Tonight Show Lookalikes.
12:52If you have a lookalike of me,
12:53send it to lookalikes
12:54at tonightshow.com
12:56and we might put it on the show.
12:57We'll be right back
12:58with Kerry Washington, everybody.
13:00Come on back.
13:04Flowers.
13:06One, two, three.
13:08Roses.
13:09Roses.
13:23Roses.
13:24The first guest stars and executive
13:25produce the new limited series,
13:27Imperfect Women.
13:29The first two episodes
13:30premiere today on Apple TV.
13:32Please welcome
13:33Kerry Washington!
13:34The second one.
13:36I'm perfect.
13:38I'm perfect.
13:38But I'm perfect for you.
13:42No, I'm on time.
13:44I'm, I'm perfect.
13:47That's right.
13:49That's right.
13:50That's right.
13:51No, I'm on time.
13:52That's right.
13:54Come on.
13:54Kerry Washington.
13:55Hey!
13:56Woo!
13:57They love you.
13:57Come on.
13:58Hi!
13:59They love you.
14:00I love being here.
14:01We love you.
14:02Welcome back!
14:02I love you, thank you, thank you!
14:04I always love having you on the show, happy-
14:06I thought I was gonna get the ponytail version.
14:08What happened to your ponytail?
14:09That guy weirdly looks exactly like me.
14:12Yeah, yeah, yeah.
14:12It's so weird how many people do look like me.
14:14It's an odd thing,
14:15because people send in some crazy photos,
14:18and I go, I look nothing like that.
14:19I go, am I right?
14:20And then I put on a wig,
14:21and I look exactly like that.
14:22That's who I am.
14:23That's who, that actually is who I am.
14:26I want to congratulate you, by the way.
14:28You just received an Icon Award.
14:30I did.
14:30No big deal, yeah.
14:31It's so crazy, so crazy.
14:33Black women in Hollywood ceremony.
14:36Yeah.
14:36That's gotta mean a lot, right?
14:37It was wild, because I,
14:39so this is this beautiful luncheon
14:41that Essence Magazine has every year,
14:42and I actually got an award from them,
14:44not for being an Icon,
14:45for being like a breakthrough artist,
14:46like 14 years ago.
14:48So it was amazing to be back there at that luncheon.
14:51Some things had changed a lot,
14:52and some things had, you know, were the same.
14:54Like I had a lot of the same team members
14:56that I had 14 years ago,
14:57but like there was a guy sitting at my table
14:59who 14 years ago was my secret fiance.
15:00He's now my husband.
15:03Isn't that fun?
15:04Yeah, it was so fun.
15:06And it just was really special.
15:09Like when I was there,
15:10it was kind of in the midst of all of the craziness
15:13around this rocket ship that I was on called Scandal.
15:16Oh yeah.
15:16And I remember-
15:30competition or contempt or jealousy.
15:33I just felt so much love in the room.
15:36Yeah.
15:36And support, like they were praying for me to win,
15:38that we would all win.
15:39Yes.
15:39And so I stood up there and I was thinking,
15:42you know, if this show works,
15:43like if anybody actually watches Scandal,
15:45I have to pour back into this room.
15:46Like I want to start a production company
15:48and create opportunities for more of us
15:50so there's not just this one role
15:52that we're all competing for, you know?
15:54Good for you.
15:54You did.
15:55Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
15:56That's why you get the icon award.
15:58Come on, congrats.
15:59Yeah, yeah.
16:00I love producing.
16:01I really do love producing.
16:03Yeah, because when you're an actress,
16:04sometimes you feel like you're sitting at home waiting
16:06for somebody to invite you to a party
16:07and when you're a producer, you get to throw the party.
16:09You're like, it's my party.
16:10But it takes a long time to develop these ideas
16:13and make them a reality.
16:15For imperfect women, Elizabeth Moss, who is a beast,
16:18she's an amazing actress, she's a phenom.
16:21And she saw this book, Imperfect Woman,
16:22at the airport like six, seven years ago, 2019.
16:26And she loved it, she bought the rights
16:28and it's taken seven years to get it made.
16:30To get it made.
16:31Yeah, yeah, yeah.
16:31By the way, can I quickly talk about something
16:33that we were talking about backstage, but like-
16:34Depends on which thing that, which of the things.
16:38The one involving another certain icon,
16:41one of my all time favorites, Whoopi Goldberg?
16:43Yes.
16:43Yes.
16:46Wait, you're re-imagining.
16:48Yeah, so our production company, Simpson Street,
16:50we are re-imagining Whoopi's one woman show
16:53that she did on Broadway, which was spectacular.
16:56She just, it was groundbreaking.
16:57That's my favorite.
16:58Yes, but we are, you know, you can't do what Whoopi did,
17:02cause she is a true icon.
17:04So we're doing five actresses to do her one woman show.
17:07It's taking difficult-
17:07Yeah, that's right.
17:08Yeah, it takes-
17:09It takes five, it really probably takes 20 of us to be Whoopi.
17:12Yeah, it probably takes a hundred.
17:13But we're gathering as much talent as we can to honor her-
17:16I love that.
17:16To honor this piece.
17:17We're doing it at Lincoln Center this summer.
17:19No way.
17:19Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
17:21Yeah.
17:21I love that one woman show.
17:23I remember that was one of my first introductions
17:25to what Broadway was.
17:26Yeah.
17:26Because I was in upstate New York, Socrates,
17:29and I was watching, you know, television,
17:31and it would just be these ads for Whoopi.
17:33Yeah.
17:33And I go, what is this?
17:34Incredible.
17:35And she-
17:35All her characters?
17:36So she played so many different characters,
17:38and she, I mean, some of the characters cursed,
17:42and I was young, like single digits.
17:44I'm eight or nine years old,
17:46and my mom used to let me walk around the house,
17:48singing like, around the world in 80,
17:51mother-
17:51Yeah, oh my God.
17:53Dude, I remember, you did that?
17:55She used to let me curse,
17:56cause she was like, it's art.
17:57Around the world.
17:57It's art, it's Broadway.
17:58You can curse for Broadway.
18:00Wow!
18:00That's probably why I'm an actor today.
18:03I was like, oh, I can do anything if I'm acting.
18:06I remember like, I said okay, he said okay.
18:08That's okay, he said okay, okay.
18:09Yeah, I said, oh my God.
18:11So good.
18:11That's gonna be-
18:11And my long, luxurious blonde hair.
18:13Like, all these pieces are so-
18:15That was my introduction to Broadway,
18:17that and also the Milford Plaza commercial.
18:19Do you remember that?
18:19Do I remember?
18:21I'll take you to the lullaby of Broadway.
18:27It's the lullaby of Broadway.
18:29It's so good.
18:31Oh, my gosh.
18:31Mom, you have to go to Milford Plaza!
18:33I have to stay there,
18:35cause the Bellmen sing to you.
18:36They're dancing at the Bellmen's house.
18:38The Milford Plaza is the lullaby of Ol' Broadway!
18:42Oh, yes, the best!
18:44I cannot wait for that.
18:46Yeah.
18:46I'm not doing the Milford Plaza.
18:48No, no, no, you won't do that, no.
18:49I'll do that on the way as people are walking into the scene.
18:51Okay, great.
18:52I'll be outside for you, yeah.
18:54Let's talk about your new project,
18:55limited series, Imperfect Women.
18:57Congratulations on this. Thank you.
18:59It's a psychological thriller on Apple TV.
19:01Juicy. It is.
19:03Juicy.
19:03You star in it, you produce it as well.
19:05The cast is, like you said, amazing.
19:07Elizabeth Moss?
19:08Yeah, so she really brought it to me.
19:10She's an executive producer.
19:11She bought the rights to this novel.
19:13When Elizabeth Moss calls you,
19:15you're like, yes, whatever you want.
19:16And then I was like, oh, I hope the material's
19:18as good as she is, right?
19:19And so I read the book and I was like, I'm in.
19:21Cause these girls are messy.
19:24They are messy. Yeah.
19:26It's about these three best friends.
19:27They become best friends in college.
19:28And one of them winds up dead in the first episode.
19:32And the other two are trying to come to terms with her death.
19:35And as they are figuring out how she died and why she died,
19:37they really have to deal with a lot of their stuff.
19:39Yeah, it's well done.
19:40I want to show a clip.
19:41Here's Kerry Washington in Imperfect Women.
19:44Take a look.
19:45Excuse me.
19:46Oh.
19:46Potato mini galettes with a tomato confin,
19:49paired with champagne, compliments of the chef.
19:51Oh, thank you.
19:52Please thank Porco for me.
19:53Well done, Ms. Boucher.
19:56Amazing.
19:57You look very nice.
19:58I mean, they're tater tots, right?
20:00No.
20:00They are very fancy, artisanal tater tots.
20:04Very rude.
20:05I love it when you sleep with chefs.
20:07Ooh, how's it going with the coworkers?
20:09That's still...
20:10Yes, we are still connecting here and there.
20:15You know?
20:16Yes.
20:16It's very casual, though.
20:17Does he know that?
20:18Yes.
20:19Nancy, you good?
20:21What?
20:23What?
20:24What?
20:26What?
20:26Kerry Washington, everybody!
20:28The first two episodes of Imperfect Women premiere today on Apple TV.
20:34Kerry and I do something fun after the break.
20:36Stick around.
20:36It's good.
20:38Show it.
20:44My name has been mentioned, even up until quite recently, as a potential James Bond.
20:50Oh, my God.
20:51Yeah, it's a potential James Bond, yeah.
20:52Wait a second.
20:54But if you ask me, it hasn't been mentioned enough.
21:01That's right.
21:01We are hanging out with Kerry and I said, baby, dog.
21:02When can we come?
21:06That's right.
21:07Welcome back, everybody.
21:08We are hanging out with Kerry and I said, baby, dog.
21:09Kerry Washington, now!
21:11That's right.
21:13Kerry, I feel like we have a good connection going right now.
21:17We do, yeah.
21:17We always do.
21:17And I have a game that we can play to prove it.
21:19Okay.
21:20It's time for the Jinx Challenge.
21:21Here we go.
21:22Hey!
21:23It's the Jinx Challenge.
21:26Here's how it works.
21:27We're going to grab a card which has a category on it.
21:29Okay.
21:30And we're going to count to three and both say something in that category at the same time.
21:34Okay.
21:34If we say the same word, it's a jinx.
21:36Yes.
21:36We like that.
21:37So we're going to see how many jinxes we can get.
21:39Okay.
21:40First, we have to put on our jinx gloves.
21:42What is that?
21:43Why?
21:44What are we doing?
21:44These are patented.
21:46Does this help us?
21:48Yeah.
21:48That means it connects us.
21:50Yes.
21:50Okay.
21:51Through...
21:51Our brains.
21:52Through the palms.
21:53Yes.
21:53Palms.
21:54Every...
21:55My grandma always said it.
21:56What?
21:57It's all through the palms of her hands.
21:59Oh.
21:59Oh.
21:59No, she never said that.
22:01Oh.
22:01Do you feel something?
22:02Oh, my gosh.
22:03I feel it.
22:04You feeling the vibes?
22:05Whoa.
22:06Yes, exactly.
22:07Whew.
22:08All right.
22:08Let's see what our first category is.
22:10Wait, be careful.
22:11Okay.
22:11Yeah.
22:12If there's a fire, we'll run out that.
22:13Yeah.
22:14You're feeling the same direction.
22:15Ready?
22:15We're going the same direction.
22:16Here we go.
22:17First one.
22:18Hold on.
22:18You're going to count?
22:19You're going to do one, two, three?
22:20Oh, yeah.
22:20I'll say the category, then we'll say one, two, three, and then say it.
22:23Okay.
22:23Mm-hmm.
22:25Flowers.
22:28One, two, three.
22:29Roses.
22:30Oh, my God!
22:38Dude, why is it...
22:39I mean...
22:39Why is it so exciting?
22:40Why is it so exciting?
22:42Because I almost said Daisy's rose.
22:43I was like, he's a rose guy.
22:44Okay, let's go.
22:45Let's go.
22:45Let's go.
22:46But if I was Drew...
22:47That's what a real actor does.
22:48Drew Barrymore, I would have said...
22:49You would have said Daisy's with Drew, right?
22:51With Drew.
22:51I think so, yeah.
22:52You're right.
22:52Okay, let's go.
22:53Let's go.
22:55We're going to have to play Psychic.
22:56It's the next game we play.
22:57Next category is...
22:58Yeah.
23:00Zodiac signs.
23:00Oh, shoot.
23:04I'm just going to go for it, man.
23:06Okay.
23:06All right, three, two, one.
23:08Virgo.
23:09No, we got to switch up.
23:11We got to keep going.
23:12Are you a Virgo?
23:13Yes.
23:13Are you a Leo?
23:14No.
23:15Oh, settle down, Virgo.
23:16Settle down.
23:18Settle down.
23:19We're not saying we're right.
23:21We're just...
23:21Most of the time, we are.
23:23Whatever.
23:23All right.
23:24Wait, all right.
23:25So, wait.
23:26We said Virgo and Leo.
23:27We can't say either one of those.
23:28Okay.
23:28Oh, we're going to go again?
23:29We have to go again.
23:30Okay.
23:31I can't only think of one other one.
23:32Okay.
23:34Ready?
23:34One, two, three.
23:36Sagetarius.
23:36Oh, why Sagetarius?
23:39What?
23:40What is this?
23:40It just sounds like this.
23:42I feel like we should have stopped at roses.
23:44Sorry, so now we have to stop.
23:45Here, we got to do another zodiac.
23:46Another one?
23:47The third, yes.
23:47Okay.
23:48Zodiac sign.
23:49Okay.
23:50You're going to get this one.
23:51Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
23:54Three, two, one.
23:56Aquarius!
23:57Okay, all right.
23:57So, we didn't get that one.
23:58So, we didn't get that one.
23:59So, we have one jinx and one nacho.
24:01Okay.
24:02All right.
24:02Let's go to the next category.
24:03Okay.
24:03Yeah.
24:04No one remembers that.
24:04Here we go.
24:05Okay.
24:05Ready?
24:06Words that rhyme with fork.
24:09Three, two, one.
24:11Dork.
24:11Pork.
24:16I said pork.
24:19I like my bacon.
24:20I like pork, yeah.
24:21I said dork.
24:22But that leaves one thing.
24:24Here we go.
24:24Okay.
24:25Three, two, one.
24:26Cork.
24:27Yes!
24:29Double jinx.
24:30Double jinx.
24:31Double jinx.
24:31This is a record.
24:32Here we go.
24:33Next category is dog breeds.
24:37What?
24:38Okay.
24:39Breed of a dog.
24:40Okay.
24:41Now, are you going with me?
24:44Oh, yes.
24:45Yes.
24:46Okay.
24:46Wait, hold on.
24:47Yes.
24:47Yes.
24:48Yep.
24:48Mm-hmm.
24:50Three, two, one.
24:52Golden retriever!
24:57I knew it!
24:58I knew it!
24:59I knew it!
25:00I knew it!
25:01I knew it!
25:02I knew it!
25:03That is exactly the dog.
25:04You are such a golden retriever.
25:06I'm such a golden retriever.
25:06You are really helpful.
25:07You are such a golden retriever.
25:08You are such a giving actor.
25:09Oh, my gosh.
25:10You are such a golden retriever.
25:11I love it.
25:12I love it.
25:13Thank you, thank you.
25:14Can't resist the water.
25:15No, I'll just say it.
25:16I'm a little...
25:19Yeah, I know.
25:19Happy is a great word.
25:20All right, here we go.
25:21Let's do one more of this.
25:22This final round is worth 10,000 points.
25:24Okay.
25:25Okay.
25:26There we go.
25:27My arm's tired.
25:28I know.
25:28Me too, sorry.
25:29Okay.
25:30All right.
25:31A number between 1 and 20.
25:36Oh.
25:37Okay.
25:39A number between 1 and 20.
25:42Are you gonna go out of the box here?
25:44Are you going...
25:45I don't know.
25:46Are you cheating?
25:46What's happening?
25:47No, no.
25:48No.
25:48Did you hear voices?
25:49Did you hear voices?
25:51Okay, ready?
25:521 and 20.
25:52Here we go.
25:541 and 20.
25:561, 2, 3.
25:5714.
25:58Okay, here we go.
25:59Okay, let's try number two.
26:01Try number two.
26:02Ready?
26:02Okay.
26:031, 2, 3.
26:057.
26:0511.
26:06Those rhymed.
26:07Those rhymed.
26:09Okay.
26:10All right.
26:10Between 1 and 20.
26:163, 2, 1.
26:1818.
26:19Oh, my God.
26:21You did that on purpose.
26:23My name is Kerry Washington.
26:25The first two episodes of Imperfect Women are out on Apple TV right now.
26:30Imperfect Women on Apple TV.
26:32We'll be right back, everybody.
26:49Our next guest is an Oscar and Emmy-winning artist who created and stars in the new series,
26:55Bait, which begins streaming March 25th on Prime Video.
26:59Please welcome Riz Ahmed!
27:23You look studly.
27:26You look magnificent.
27:28You look mysterious.
27:29Thank you very much.
27:31Thank you so much for being here.
27:33I love this.
27:34I want to get into everything that you have going on in your new series, Bait, but I also
27:38want to talk about a couple films.
27:40First is you're playing Hamlet.
27:43That's right, yeah.
27:44That's massive.
27:45Congrats on that.
27:50It's a big deal to go into that.
27:52Yeah, it's something I've wanted to do since I was, like, a teenager.
27:55So, yeah, it feels really satisfying to share it with people.
27:58I'm excited.
27:58You're doing that, but then you also worked with one of our favorite humans, Tom Cruise,
28:04on this new movie, Digger, that's coming out.
28:06How's Tom doing?
28:07How is he?
28:08Tom is always doing well.
28:12He is, right?
28:13He is.
28:13He doesn't have, like, an off switch.
28:15I remember once I had, we were in the middle of a rehearsal, and I tried out an idea,
28:19and the idea sucked, right?
28:21It's okay.
28:22That's what rehearsal's for.
28:23And I tried this thing, and it wasn't very good.
28:25I was like, ah, it didn't really work.
28:26The director, Alejandro, was like, cool, let's move on.
28:29Before we moved on, Tom stopped everything.
28:30He goes, okay, everybody stop.
28:32Stop.
28:33He goes, Riz?
28:34I was like, oh, my God, he's going to tell me off.
28:36He goes, when you try things like that, and you're creating, and you're taking swings,
28:42I love it!
28:44Round of applause for Riz.
28:46That's why he's the best.
28:47It's like, I don't think I like this guy.
28:50Yeah.
28:51Everyone gave me a round of applause for screwing up.
28:53It was fantastic.
28:54Unbelievable.
28:55Yeah, he's got such a good vibe.
28:56He really does.
28:56He's so positive.
28:57Let's talk about Bait.
28:58I think this is one of the coolest ideas of a show.
29:01It's hilarious.
29:02It's interesting.
29:03It's so fun.
29:04It's one of the most anticipated shows.
29:06Everyone's buzzing about this.
29:07Congrats on that.
29:08I also like seeing you doing a comedy, because you're very funny.
29:11How do we set up what the show is about for everyone?
29:14The show is about an out-of-work actor who gets an audition to be the next James Bond.
29:20Hence the outfit.
29:22Yeah.
29:22And so when word gets out he is in the running, people have a lot of strong opinions about
29:28it, which they do about casting sometimes.
29:30Especially James Bond.
29:31Exactly.
29:32So they have such strong opinions, his life spirals out of control.
29:35It soon feels like the kind of spy thriller he is auditioning for.
29:39So he's in a chase sequence, but what he's chasing is public opinion and approval, in
29:43a way.
29:44Yeah.
29:44So it's a real trip and it's a lot of fun.
29:47The word bait means something in England?
29:50England that does America?
29:51It does.
29:51Well, it's British slang, but it means a lot of things.
29:53You know, the show has so many different elements to it.
29:55Yeah.
29:55It's comedy.
29:56It's drama.
29:57It's romance.
29:59And I realize it's hard to sum up in a sentence, but it is actually easy to sum
30:02it up in one word.
30:04And that word is bait.
30:05It's bait.
30:05Yeah.
30:06Yeah.
30:06And bait means many different things.
30:07So it's, and they all correspond to a different element of the show.
30:10So bait is London slang for being really blatant and attention seeking.
30:16Right?
30:16Yeah.
30:16Bait online means trolling, right?
30:19Yeah.
30:19Provoking someone.
30:20Bait in Urdu and Hindi means your loyalty or your allegiance.
30:24Bait in Arabic and Hebrew means home or family.
30:28And bait in a spy thriller of course means something used as part of a trap.
30:33Yeah.
30:33Well done.
30:34That's a name right there.
30:36You can't name it anything else.
30:38You can't even think to name it anything else.
30:41Yeah.
30:41It's brilliant.
30:42It's funny.
30:43Like this actor trying to be auditioning for Bond kind of knows he's not going to get
30:48it and goes, instead of going out the back door, goes out the front and gets photographed
30:53by paparazzi.
30:54And everyone's like, wait, is he the Bond?
30:56It's just, it's brilliant.
30:58It's good.
30:58Sometimes you have to take things into your own hands.
31:00You do?
31:01Yeah.
31:01Like for example, my name has been mentioned even up to quite recently as a potential
31:07James Bond.
31:08Oh my gosh.
31:09Yeah, it's a potential James Bond.
31:10Yeah.
31:10Wait a second.
31:12But if you ask me, it hasn't been mentioned enough.
31:16So this is interesting.
31:16So I thought I'd take something into my own hands and I decided, let me do something
31:21very subtle and sneaky.
31:22Let me create a TV show where I play an actor auditioning to be James Bond and make it at
31:30the studio that now controls James Bond.
31:33Inception.
31:33Wow.
31:37This is genius, but James Bond is one of the most iconic roles in history.
31:42Yeah.
31:42Why do you think that you're the right person for this role?
31:45This isn't for my benefit.
31:47No, no.
31:47No, no, no.
31:48I'm doing this to help people out.
31:50I don't know if you've noticed, people are very stressed about this.
31:53Yes.
31:53There's newspaper articles.
31:55There's online conversation.
31:56Everybody seems very distracted.
31:58And sometimes you need someone to just stand up, you know, be a leader and take one for
32:02the team.
32:04And that's you.
32:05Yeah.
32:06I figured, listen, I'll solve this.
32:08I'll do it.
32:09It's me.
32:09But I know what you're thinking.
32:11I know what you're thinking.
32:12I know what you're all thinking.
32:14Let's just come out and say it.
32:16Traditionally, actors playing James Bond have not looked like me.
32:19Right?
32:19Yeah.
32:20It's true.
32:21Traditionally, actors playing James Bond have always been five foot nine or
32:24over.
32:27But the rumors aren't true.
32:28I'm five foot eight and a half, not five foot eight.
32:31Oh, my gosh.
32:31Thank you for clearing that up.
32:33Exactly.
32:33And in what world do you want a secret agent to blend in with the New York Knicks?
32:36You need someone who's just below the eye line who really kind of blends in.
32:40Yes.
32:41Okay.
32:41This is good.
32:41I said this is a good take.
32:43I mean, you're winning the crowd over.
32:45Do people come up to you, though, a lot and say that you think you'd make a good chance?
32:50Ever since I was a kid.
32:51Ever since I was a kid.
32:52Let me show you.
32:53I'm going to show you a childhood photo.
32:55And tell me when you see this, you don't see the next James Bond.
32:58Look at this.
32:59Boom.
33:05Yeah, he's got...
33:10It's all in the eyes.
33:11Yeah.
33:11It's all in the eyes, Jimmy.
33:13It's all in the eyes.
33:13And guess how old I was in that photo.
33:16007.
33:16Crazy.
33:17The way it just works.
33:20007 years old.
33:20It's happening.
33:21It's happening.
33:21Look, for anyone who's still not convinced.
33:23Yeah.
33:23I have one thing to say.
33:24Yes.
33:25You know, if somebody's saying, why should you be the next James Bond?
33:27I would say to them, why not?
33:31Honestly, why not?
33:35Because this is what I love about America, Jimmy.
33:37This is the land of why not?
33:40Yes.
33:42In England, if you come up with a cool idea, people are like, why bother?
33:45Right?
33:46Should we drive on the correct side of the road like everybody else?
33:48Why bother?
33:49Should we sort out our dental hygiene?
33:51Why bother?
33:53But America's the land of why not?
33:55Imagine.
33:56Should we put peanut butter inside chocolate?
33:59Why not?
34:02Wow.
34:04Should we put foam cheese inside an aerosol can?
34:09Why not?
34:09Yes.
34:10Should we put a reality TV star in the White House?
34:15Why not?
34:19So, I put it to you, ladies and gentlemen, should Riz Ahmed be the next James Bond?
34:23If anybody asks you, just say, why not?
34:26Yeah, I love that!
34:27Come on!
34:28That's how you do it!
34:29That is how you do it!
34:32Riz Ahmed, James Bond!
34:36But before that, I want to show you a clip.
34:38Here's Riz Ahmed in Bait.
34:40Take a look at this.
34:41Daniel Craig got paid 20 M's for the last movie.
34:44My Shahju will get 21.
34:46Just calm down.
34:47It's just an audition, yeah?
34:48Call me if you need a body double for sex scenes.
34:52Can you tell her to call me as soon as she comes back in?
34:55Yes, sure.
34:56Can you tell me?
34:57Can you tell me?
34:59Can you tell me?
34:59I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing.
35:01I've just got to sort this out and work it out.
35:04Yo!
35:05Yo!
35:05Look at me!
35:06I'm proud of you!
35:09Yeah!
35:10F***ing team!
35:11Come on, my guy!
35:12Come on!
35:12Let's see what happens.
35:13Of course, inshallah.
35:13But do they know about the height?
35:16What do you mean?
35:17They're gonna give you special shoes, like James Bond's a big honey.
35:23Yeah!
35:24Come on, bud!
35:26Ms. Ahmed!
35:29Bait begins streaming March 25th on Prime Video.

35:53Performing My Life from her upcoming album, Julia.
35:57Please welcome Julia Cumming!
36:03I sing these words for me
36:09To hear the sounds
36:13To let them ring
36:18To drown you out
36:22I'm too wholesome
36:24Or too boring
36:25Or too quiet and loud
36:27I'm too sexy
36:29Or too modest
36:30Or I'm lost in the crowd
36:32I'm too literal
36:33Then I'll just make no sense at all
36:36I fall in love
36:38And then feel trapped
36:39And stumble and fall
36:41But I don't do this
36:43To impress you
36:45I don't wear this
36:48To undress you
36:50I don't need you
36:52To define me
36:54Or approve of
36:57What's inside me
36:59I sing to everyone I've loved
37:04I sing to all this
37:07I suppose
37:08I do
37:12This because
37:16I do
37:18My life is
37:20I do
37:27My life is
37:29My life is
37:32My life is
37:33My life is
37:35My life is
37:44Cause I'm still free
37:49Cause I'm alive
37:54I'm too lonesome or too only or too feisty or proud
37:59I'm too wanted or too lazy or I'm trying too hard
38:03I'm confessional, fainted, weird with something I said
38:08I fall in love and then find out it's all in my head
38:12But I don't do this to impress you
38:16I don't dare this to undress you
38:21I don't need you to define me
38:26Or to prove what's inside me
38:30I sing to everyone I've loved
38:35I sing to all the stars above
38:40I do this because
38:48My life is mine
38:52My life is mine
38:57My life is mine
39:11My life is mine
39:19My life is mine
39:26My life is, ooh
39:29My life is, ooh
39:33My life is, ooh
39:50Oh, my goodness.
39:52Come on.
39:53That is how you do it.
39:55Julia Cummings.
