00:00Biggest cities, Paris, Paris, Marseille and Lyon, which are currently held by left-wing mayors,
00:05but which all are up for grabs today in the second round of voting.
00:09In Paris, the current incumbent is not seeking re-election, so vying for her succession.
00:14There is the socialist Emmanuel Grégoire, the right-wing Rachida Dati, and the France-unbowed Sophie Chiquirou.
00:22While in Lyon, you have the incumbent Green facing a right-wing challenger,
00:26and in Marseille, an incumbent left-wing mayor facing challenges from both the right and the far-right.
00:32Now, turnout was at 58% last week. That's relatively low.
00:35That's the lowest it's ever been in municipal elections out with Covid years.
00:40So this week, this last week of campaigning, it's been a real push to drive that turnout ahead of today's
00:47vote.
00:47Obviously, it's early days. We've only seen a few people coming and going from this polling station in the first
00:5310, 15 minutes of voting.
00:54But it remains to be seen how successful that has been, as, of course, candidates hope to improve their margins
00:59by mobilising their support base.
