00:04Hello and welcome to the latest of our FM Friday feature blogs for Football Manager 2014.
00:11In this week's video we're going to be looking at the changes to interaction within the game.
00:15We've revamped a number of ways in which you can deal with your board, players, staff and fellow managers
00:20which will have a noticeable effect on the depth to the relationships you build up on FM14.
00:25The biggest change in this area is the new narrative system.
00:28This system changes the way managers and journalists converse in-game
00:32and the narratives are designed to replicate the type of stories and events that are discussed,
00:37debated and covered by the footballing press each week.
00:41Narratives overarch into all the different types of interaction in the game
00:44but all start through your dealings with the press.
00:47The questions you were asked by journalists, both in and out of press conferences
00:51have been rewritten to take the system into account
00:54and you'll now ask questions on a wider variety of topics such as
00:58different playing styles that AI managers employ
01:02a team's physical approach to the game
01:05and your transfer dealings with certain managers.
01:08These managers will respond to your comments
01:11and may offer opinions on your team and management style
01:14which would add to the pre-match build-up.
01:16It won't just be you having these dealings with the press though.
01:19Now, all managers inside the game, whether controlled by yourself
01:23or by artificial intelligence, will actively engage with the press
01:27to feed into the pre-match speculation
01:29and will be more vocal with their praise or criticism of you
01:32depending on how you've talked about them in the past.
01:35Something that's often been requested by players of the series
01:38are manager job interviews
01:40and, with the interaction revamp, it's finally possible for them to make their debut
01:44in the series for Football Manager 2014.
01:47You'll be invited to an interview if you make it onto the shortlist of a club
01:51that you apply to take charge of
01:52and the interview will give you the chance to set out your proposed vision for the club.
01:57If your ambitions for the club match those of the board
01:59then this may convince the board you're the right person for the job.
02:03Once in the interview, you'll first be asked to discuss
02:06your expectations for the season ahead, the transfer and wage budgets
02:09you would require to achieve this
02:11and discuss any philosophies and board requests
02:14that you wish to put forward to the club.
02:16If you're successful, you'll be approached by the club with a job offer
02:19including the details of the accepted vision for the club
02:22and the budgets that you'll be expected to adhere to once you take charge.
02:27Another area where we've made enhancements is board interaction.
02:31Now, when you make a board request
02:33you're given more conversation options to state your case
02:36and they may persuade the board to accept the request
02:38even if they had initially been against the idea.
02:41The board will also take into account the club philosophies
02:44when making their decision.
02:46If the request is refused
02:48then you now have the option to publicly question the board
02:51by clicking the leak to press button.
02:53A journalist will then ask you about your opinion on the matter
02:56and the board will come back to you with a response.
02:58They could threaten you with a sack
03:00and demand that you explain your actions or accept the request.
03:03Their response will depend on your record at the club
03:06and the personalities of the board members.
03:08The board can also call on you to attend a board meeting
03:11when things are going badly for you and they're concerned
03:14giving you the chance to possibly save your job.
03:17Manager contracts have also been tweaked
03:19to include some extra clauses.
03:22Firstly, you can now set an amount of compensation
03:24that the club would receive in the event that you leave the club.
03:28We've also included performance related clauses
03:31including promotion wage rises and relegation wage drops
03:34so your team's performance will impact on you financially too
03:37which will have an impact on your ranking on the FM leaderboards.
03:41You can also have promotion bonuses.
03:43If you're renegotiating your contract at your current club
03:46you'll now be invited to attend a meeting with the board
03:49to discuss your vision for the club over the next few years
03:52just as you would when attending a job interview.
03:54Finally, for manager contracts
03:56we've added the padlock system to the manager contract negotiation screen.
04:00Player interaction has also seen some new additions.
04:03These include, but are not limited to
04:06the new player advice screen
04:07under the new development tab on the player profile.
04:10This screen gives you feedback from your senior staff
04:13on each individual player in your squad
04:15in regards to their training
04:16how they fit into your tactics
04:18man management, player status and general development.
04:22Also new for FM14
04:24are end of season and pre-season team meetings.
04:27These meetings are a great opportunity
04:29to get the squad together
04:30to assess the previous campaign
04:32and lay down targets and expectations for the coming season.
04:35You're now able to ask your captain
04:37to have a word with unhappy teammates
04:40to try and resolve conflicts.
04:41Some other new features include
04:43the addition of manager tendencies
04:45to the manager profile screen
04:47the ability to discuss with the loaning manager
04:50why a player out on loan isn't being played
04:52and the ask to pick button
04:54is now always visible on the tactics overview screen.
04:57So those are just a few of the new interaction features
05:00within Football Manager 2014.
05:02We believe that the improvements we've made in this area
05:05will make your FM games more immersive
05:07and enjoyable than before.
05:08We're releasing new information and features
05:11about FM14 on a daily basis on Twitter
