00:00All right, well, hey guys, I think we should go ahead and get into the meat and potatoes of this.
00:05Yeah, yeah, there's definitely a lot of time.
00:13So, to kind of preface it about what we're talking about,
00:16this, so Comic-Con and, you know, cons like this,
00:19it's always been like really great fan events and, you know, we do press and stuff around games,
00:24but folks like you buy our games, support us,
00:28even in the off years where we're not shipping, you know, DAIs is doing their thing this year,
00:33you guys still come, line up for our panels,
00:35and so we like to showcase stuff to the fans first before we do to anyone else,
00:40and we want to continue to kind of do that.
00:43Bioware as a whole, I think at this point,
00:45we want to pull back the curtain a little bit on some work-in-progress stuff
00:49as we go through to give you guys some more insight into it,
00:52but it is work-in-progress stuff.
00:54We're years from, you know, like, being able to say, like,
00:58this is the exact game that we're making,
01:00and take this with a grain of salt in the sense that
01:04what you see here may not be the same thing that you see in the final game,
01:07but we want to showcase it anyway.
01:10So.

01:19Let us talk a little bit about the hero.
01:24Let us talk a little bit about the hero.
01:25So, here are male and female heroes that we've been working on.
01:30You can see, basically,
01:33slight change in stature between both of them.
01:36You can see the red and the blue.
01:38That's what we're thinking of for tintable options at this point in time.
01:41We haven't actually gone through
01:44an iconic color pass yet,
01:49but you'll notice there's a couple things that are key
01:51about this character.
01:54The helmet.
01:56Glass helmet.
01:58Exploration.
02:02Cloth.
02:04It's clearly not mattering.
02:11We'll also notice N7.
02:13So, our hero has something to do with N7.
02:20And so, the ability for us to bring this character into Frostbite
02:22has actually been, you know, pretty successful so far.
02:27And what we're seeing is
02:29pretty clear to what you actually see in the game.
02:36Let me show you a turnaround for our male hero.
02:43So, as I kind of alluded to,
02:45it's a cloth-based kind of under-armor there
02:49with armored pieces on top.
02:51The idea is that the character has free range of motion
02:54to do all sorts of great exploration activities in the game.
02:59As I mentioned before,
03:00that helmet allows you to basically
03:04use conversations
03:05and get into dialogues without, you know,
03:08obstructing the face of the player.
03:10Also, from a purely operational standpoint,
03:12they can look around and see things a lot more easier
03:14than having a crash helmet your entire time.
03:17Thank you.
03:29And here's the female,
03:31built at the same time,
03:33animated at the same time.
03:35So, we're definitely working through the process together.
03:39Obviously, there's a helmet on both of them
03:41because we haven't yet got to the point
03:44we want to reveal faces.
03:45But the armor is pretty similar in terms of protection.
03:50We offer that environmental protection
03:52across whatever you might find.
03:55It's a little bit more slender on the female.
03:58You'll notice there is that
04:00there's no kind of front snap-on pieces
04:03on this version of the turnaround
04:04where if we look back
04:07to the previous slide,
04:09I think the music might play again.
04:11It's supposed to go backwards.
04:13You see the pieces that are kind of snapped onto the front.
04:16That's currently what we're thinking about
04:18in terms of customization options
04:19for gameplay, for aesthetic,
04:21things like that.
04:23The color of the lights,
04:25those kind of things,
04:26we're all thinking about customization options there.
04:29And then if we go back to the turnaround,
04:32you'll notice that that's the stuff that's missing.
04:34We're also working on an Under Armour system
04:36where these pieces themselves
04:39don't necessarily have to be on the player at all times.
04:42So, the razor that we're using
04:45is maximum customization for your visual aesthetic.
04:50Carl, do you have anything to add about,
04:51how it is bringing these folks to life?
04:55The character art team has been putting a lot of effort
04:58in making those armors as realistic as possible
05:01in the sense that they could actually be built.
05:03So, that's why the Under Armour idea comes from.
05:06It also helps us get better deformation,
05:08and the character looks much more real in-game as well.
05:12and the idea of the Snap-on pieces
05:14also gives us a lot of opportunities
05:16for customization,
05:17make parts that could be animated separately
05:19and all that kind of stuff.
05:20So, it's working really well for us.

05:51But this isn't the Mako that you remember.
05:55This is a different Mako.

08:37Now we're kind of working on the tweaks and the physics and things like that,
08:41but the important point is that the MAKO is going to be fundamental to the game.
08:45We're building a game that's about exploring places
08:48And obviously exploring places
08:50Needs a really, really handy vehicle
08:52So
