00:00Hello, Backers of Adventure!
00:02I'm here to report on the exciting times in which we are living in.
00:05Many unexpected and cool things are happening.
00:08Relations are normalizing with Cuba, D'Angelo has a new album out,
00:11and Broken Age is in beta.
00:13Beta! Can you believe it?
00:15As we close in on the end of this project,
00:17you're going to be hearing a lot more news from us.
00:202Player is working on the next documentary episode,
00:22which is going to include the shipping of the game in it.
00:25So we're going to have to wait for that to happen,
00:26but the wait will make the episode all the longer and juicier and more satisfying.
00:31We are including this update, a schedule of their backer rewards,
00:34which will show us when we expect all the remaining backer rewards to come out.
00:38We still have cool things coming like the collector's edition of the box,
00:42and also the art book and stuff like that.
00:44So we wanted you to know that we have not stopped working on those things.
00:47We just have to have the team finish the game first,
00:49and then they can start working on that stuff.
00:51So as for the game itself, I just got back from a recording session with Elijah,
00:54where we recorded the final dialogue for the game, ever.
00:57That means the dialogue is written now, and it's locked, and it's recorded,
01:01it's localized, and it's basically done.
01:04Well, not basically done, it's done.
01:05Done, done, all caps, done.
01:07Also, all the German voice is recorded.
01:09At least they delivered something, and it sounds like German.
01:13It could be random sentences for all I know, but it sounds great.
01:16I hope you like it.
01:17We have the game up and running on the PlayStation 4 and the Vita,
01:20and it looks beautiful, and right now we're playtesting and doing small tweaks and polish
01:25as we finish the remaining sound effects and the animation work for the game.
01:28But other than that, it's all bug fixing from now until we ship later in the spring.
01:32Our friend Cory Schmitz, who'd also designed most of the UI in the game,
01:36has designed a really cool box for the retail version,
01:39and it looks very pretty and amazing, and it's at the printers now.
01:43When we have a sample of that, we'll include it in another update so you can check it out.
01:47And that's it. Exciting times. The end is in sight.
01:51This adventure that we started three years ago is coming to an end,
01:55and I can't wait for you to see it because I'm really proud of what the team has created.
01:59The last thing I'd like to do is send our support to our friend and fellow developer, Peter Molyneux.
02:03In the last few weeks, we've seen some extremely rough treatment of Peter in the Internet
02:08and on the games press, and I think it's really unfortunate and unfair,
02:12and I don't think it's healthy. Obviously, things did not go as expected with his game,
02:15and because of that, people are making some nasty accusations about Peter,
02:19and I can really relate to that, believe it or not.
02:21But I'm not saying that developers like Peter and I shouldn't be responsible
02:25and shouldn't be accountable to deadlines.
02:27I'm just saying the reaction to recent events and the tone of that reaction
02:34is really way out of proportion to the seriousness of the events themselves.
02:37Out of the many goals of this documentary that we're making is to show actual game development
02:43and show the developers are human beings, and I think it's clear that the problems that Peter is having
02:49are not unique to him. In fact, they happen on many, if not most, projects.
02:53And I hope if we keep doing what we're doing and stay transparent and keep involving the players
02:58with our development, that more and more people will start to see the process
03:01and understand how games are made, what goes into them, the effort and the expense,
03:06and why game production often goes the way it does.
03:08And knowing what goes into the games they play, I think actually players will enjoy playing them even more.
03:13So thanks to all you backers for always being so understanding with us,
03:16for helping us along the way when we needed support, and for making the whole thing possible.
03:21I'm super excited that you'll be playing Broken Age really soon.
03:24Thanks for backing, and we'll see you next time.
