00:00I just remember the day where I was on my computer reading the news and I see the headline
00:07Double Fine to Kickstart New Adventure Game. There's no way this is true. And it was.
00:20I grew up playing adventure games. Manic Mansion, Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle.
00:27Full Throttle, which are my favorite adventure games. Grim Flamengo was my favorite game of all time.
00:32As I grew up, I was like, I've tried playing more and more of those games, but they started disappearing.
00:36I miss the old days of when we had games that were driven by a creative narrative.
00:42Where everything is new and wondrous and expansive.
00:46I love the puzzles that are in adventure games.
00:49I will pay way more money for a game to test my smarts.
00:53It's just really grabbing for all ages and all audiences.
00:57And I think that's what everyone here is looking for. That kernel that Double Fine seems to have such an
01:04innate grasp of.
01:05So when I heard about a Double Fine adventure game Kickstarter, there was no hesitation. I backed the hell out
01:11of it.
01:11Because dammit, I believe in a little. Tim Schafer might look big, but he's a little. Word counts.
01:20After I contributed, I was actually up all night refreshing the page on the Kickstarter website.
01:25And it was so, so amazing to see the numbers just get higher and higher.
01:29It was a weird phenomenon just to see, you know, people passionate about adventure games, interested in learning about how
01:36games are made.
01:36We're taking a journey with the creators as they go through it and make decisions about what the game is
01:42going to look like and what parts are going to make it and not.
01:44I've already gotten my money's worth, even though I haven't even played the game yet, because I've been able to
01:49watch the documentaries and really just feel a part of this process and see everything come together.
01:53My favorite parts is when Tim actually asked us backers to help brainstorm ideas. And somebody actually did concept art
02:02of Origami Land.
02:03They're actually listening to their community. They're actually changing things up a bit. The programmers actually coming in and explaining
02:09the process to the people.
02:11We'd all get together and we'd all watch it when a new one would finally come out. We had to
02:14wait for each other. It was like a new Game of Thrones episode.
02:16That was so cool. I never thought about how they go from concept to something real and then revision. Redoing
02:24everything over from the start.
02:26It was nice to see you guys struggle not having enough money and having to struggle a little bit to
02:30get through everything. Put things in a nice perspective. These things happen. It's a creative process.
02:35And it really is looking like a champion of being great.
02:39I love the art style. I think it's fantastic.
02:41I really can't wait to experience the story that's waiting for us there.
02:44And it's been so fun and inspiring as I'm working on a game of my own right now.
02:51To a certain point I feel like we've even gotten to know a lot of the team working on it.
02:56Almost like built a relationship with the developers of this game, of this awesome company.
03:01And I never would have had that experience if I hadn't become a backer.
03:27I back DFA cause I love Double Fine and now Double Fine loves me.
03:33To be continued.
03:34I'll see you next time.
03:34Bye.
03:34Bye.
03:34Bye.
03:34Grazie.
