Going into debt if you are starting a business has almost become normal. In Episode #003 Richard Blank did not do that. When he was 27 he moved to Costa Rica and built his company from scratch. On my podcast I talked to him about doing business in Costa Rica, what it really means to be wealthy, and his passion for pinball machines.

Leon Hornemann, a German video editor and entrepreneur, features Richard Blank on his business and marketing podcast, The Liberty Corner, to discuss Blank's journey of building a successful career in Costa Rica.

00:00I think if you have a mindset of wealth and prosperity, you're going to create that.
00:08And most people just try to get the resources.
00:15Right. But then they overspend or they get signed contracts for percentage rates.
00:23Not saying what I did, Leon, was the best way to start business. I did everything in cash. I never
00:29took out a loan. I do not have a mortgage. I never maxed out credit cards. Never. I mean,
00:35you have these things and you pay them off and stuff, but never a mortgage and never a loan and
00:40never a partner, just my wife. And so these are the things that protected me, allowed me to make
00:47rational decisions instead of desperate decisions and to maintain my pace and my reputation because
00:55I paid people. That was the number one thing is the taxes and paying them first.
01:00And at the end of every month, I knew what the margin
01:04was because I had that down. You need that first. And once you have that, then build your building.
01:13That's my only suggestion for the people.
01:15Let's go.
