00:44I'm Evan Cagle, I'm the art director for The Odd Gentlemen and the art director on King's Quest.
00:49One of the things that I really love about the old King's Quest games is the look of their matte
00:55paintings.
00:55The look is really good, it's really solid.
00:58For me, a lot of my things are really good.
00:59My thought process is about being true to the spirit of the old King's Quest.
01:04Our technical abilities now let us reference some of their original inspirations in a more recognizable way.
01:11My favorite thing of the game so far has been the art style.
01:14Evan's work on it has really pushed the rest of the group to match his quality in art style.
01:22How this goes from being a drawing of a tree to actually being a game asset
01:27that involves taking this drawing, scanning it after it's been painted,
01:32handing it off to the 3D artists who are going to take this line work and turn it into geometry,
01:38and then are going to take the scanned painting and actually use that as the texture for the geometry.
01:45I've always wanted to do a game that had a more hand-drawn look,
01:50so I was lucky in that King's Quest is exactly that sort of game.
