00:30Activision was looking for someone to build this new King's Quest game along with the launch of their new Sierra
00:35and we couldn't be more excited to be given the option to even present materials for that.
00:40Matt, Evan and I were all out on the roof right after we'd gotten the email
00:44trying to figure out what we could do to make King's Quest special.
00:46We came up with the idea of Graham telling stories of his legacy to his granddaughter Gwendolyn.
00:51So we started building everything around that, the art and then a general story
00:55and sent that off to Activision and the small crew that was Sierra at the time.
00:59And they were just thrilled.
01:01When Lindsey came to me, she actually gave me a choice.
01:04We had another project going on and she's like, you want this or you want King's Quest?
01:08King's Quest, no doubt, give it to me. I can't wait. I can't wait to get started.
01:12Since we've announced King's Quest, it's been crazy.
01:15I mean for a long time it was our secret project and we had so many things we wanted to
01:18talk about
01:19and I would like compose tweets and I'm like, can we send this yet?
01:21I had to wait and wait and I finally got to share it with everybody
01:24and we've been getting so much amazing response from the community.
01:27We got the chance to sit down with Ken and Roberta Williams up in Seattle.
01:31I was personally really interested in what inspired Roberta and Ken to make those games.
01:37At one point Roberta even told us this is really what we feel that King's Quest would be if we
01:41were continuing to make them.
01:43There's a lot of pressure on this game. If it succeeds, hopefully that means we get a lot more of
01:47these types of experiences.
01:48If we fail, then these games are going to go away again and I don't want them to go away
01:51because these are my favorite types of games.
01:54It should definitely feel like you're getting a very deliberately crafted cinematic experience.
02:00I think it's turning out to be a gorgeous game.
02:02It's a really, really great opportunity as an animator to be working on a project that gives us this kind
02:06of freedom and sort of storytelling ability.
02:09That's really what we wanted to accomplish with King's Quest, taking these adventures and giving them an additional layer of
02:15context
02:15that was really going to set the stage for both Daventry in the present and Daventry in the past.
02:29We'll see you next time.
