07:10So, TJ, World of Tanks on the 360, without question, one of the biggest games on that console.
07:16How do you hope to replicate that experience on the Xbox One?
07:20By doing more of the same.
07:22World of Tanks on Xbox 360 is the most popular free-to-play game on any console right now.
07:27On Xbox, we're just trying to make it bigger.
07:29Take advantage of all the Xbox One specific features,
07:33Twitch streaming, replays, all the really great social aspects of Xbox One,
07:37and take advantage of the amazing hardware and better graphics, better everything.
07:42Right. Now, the thing that you just touched on, you're all about ways to engage with your fellow gamers.
07:47And one of the things that you guys are doing that's absolutely incredible is the cross-play between the 360
07:51and the Xbox One.
07:52How are you guys actually going to accomplish that?
07:54So, the Xbox One is its own game. We built it up from scratch.
07:58We built every tank, every asset, every map, every Sky Dome all over again at 4K resolution.
08:04But the game is controlled by the server. So, they play on the same server.
08:08So, they'll be able to play together seamlessly.
08:09You can jump from your 360 to your Xbox One back, go to a friend's house, play on the same
08:13account.
08:14There's no downloading anything.
08:16So, they'll all be able to play together.
08:18Nice. And when you approach the architects about designing that, they're like,
08:21Come on, TJ. So many people play this game, man. How are we going to get all these people to
08:24play together?
08:25You want us to keep them the same version in sync?
08:27We released over 50 updates today since our launch a little over a year ago.
08:31Wow.
08:32It's kind of an insane pace. And they're like, you want to do that on two different platforms.
08:35It's fine.
08:36Right. And one of the most important, if not the most important aspect in being successful in World of Tanks
08:41is your communication with your fellow teammates.
08:43How is that communication going to work across platforms?
08:46So, we partnered with Vivox to implement a server-based voice system so that 360 players can talk seamlessly with
08:53Xbox One players.
08:54And as a side benefit, since it's server hosted, even more players can talk at the same time.
08:58Right. And same conversation you had with those guys.
09:00Hey, we need you to make sure that all of these people play together.
09:02Yeah, no problem.
09:03That's going to be easy for us.
09:04Yeah.
09:05And let's talk about, you know, the new game.
09:07As you said, you've designed a completely new experience for the Xbox One.
09:10Are we going to see any new tanks, any sort of kind of solo mode?
09:13What can we expect beyond what the fans have already experienced with the 360 version?
09:17Well, there's always new tanks and new maps.
09:19But with the launch of Xbox One, which will also be on 360, we're adding a PvE mode for the
09:24first time called Proving Grounds.
09:25Okay.
09:25So that people can play offline and try out any tank in their inventory.
09:29You know, try fighting against different tanks, different challenge levels, so they can get really comfortable before they go out
09:34and battle against 29 other humans.
09:36Beautiful, man. And speaking of great news, you actually have some exclusive news for us here on the show right
09:41now, right?
09:42Yep. For the first time ever, we're announcing that you're going to be able to pre-download the game on
09:47July 10th.
09:48We're going to have an open beta weekend on July 11th and 12th, where Xbox Ones and 360 players are
09:54going to play together and keep their progress.
09:56And then on the 28th of July, we're going to release worldwide on Xbox One.

12:26the first person, and the first game that people see?
12:29You know, first of all, it was an honor
12:31to, on behalf of Xbox, open the show.
12:33So that was amazing.
12:35But I think the best thing
12:36was walking out to the sea of green.
12:39Right.
12:39You know, I mean, like a sea,
12:41like when you come out,
12:42it's not that easy to get on stage,
12:44but with you guys out there,
12:46you guys made it fun.

12:55this is the first original Halo for Xbox One.
12:59As a studio, and you guys know I'm a Halo fan.
13:01Like, I come down to the studio
13:02and I don't want to see anything
13:03because I want to enjoy it,
13:04just like everybody else.
13:05What has you guys most excited
13:07about this installment of the franchise?
13:09So I would say, you know,
13:11it's the biggest Halo we have ever built.
13:13And what excites me is
13:15there really is something for everyone.
13:17Right.
13:17And there's campaign,
13:18but then there's also a cooperative campaign
13:21built from the ground up,
13:22which is a new mode for us.
13:23There's Arena,
13:24which is really focused
13:25on that competitive gameplay.
13:26And then there's all new Warzone,
13:29which is basically player versus player,
13:31player versus everyone,
13:32pretty much more of everything.
13:34And that's what I'm excited about.
13:35Right, right.
13:35What about you, Josh?
13:37I mean, I'm stoked to just be able
13:39to finally show what we've been working on
13:41for the last three years, you know?
13:43Now, you've got,
13:44we've talked about,
13:44we're going to be talking about Warzone
13:45and it was newly announced early this morning.
13:47I know you brought an exclusive
13:48behind-the-scenes look.
13:49You're going to take us into the studio.
13:51And are you excited?
13:52Are you ready to unveil it?
13:53Yeah, yeah.
13:54I mean, today was the first time
13:55that we've been able to talk about this mode
13:57that we've been working on in Warzone,
13:58which is just bringing all the best parts of Halo
14:02together into this one gigantic multiplayer.
14:04We're going to show that in just a minute.
14:05They're getting it ready.
14:06But I want to talk about, you know,
14:08we've got some in-game footage here.
14:09Let's talk about the scale
14:10because I mean,
14:11we've all played those great big team battles
14:13in some of the Halo games.
14:15This is like big team battles
14:16into the next atmosphere, right?
14:18Yeah, absolutely.
14:19I mean, it's basically taking big team battle
14:21and then taking the map size
14:23and we're talking four times the size
14:25of any map that we've previously shipped in Halo
14:28and then adding to that
14:29this combination of objective gameplay
14:32as well as, you know,
14:34AI-controlled adversaries
14:36that are sprinkled throughout these experiences
14:39and then a unique scoring system
14:41where you can go out,
14:42you can kill the opposing team,
14:43you can go after boss bounties.
14:45So there's just so much to do
14:47and depending on how you like to play,
14:49you know, you can find your own approach
14:51and your own strategy.
14:52All right.
14:53Well, enough talking.
14:54Now here we go.
14:55An exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Warzone.
15:34The idea for Warzone kind of evolved over time,
15:37but it started way back on Halo 4.
15:40So when I joined the team,
15:41Warzone was just a pitch.
15:42It was something floating out there
15:44that we wanted to jump on.
15:46It was a what-if.
15:47We were able to combine
15:49all of the best parts of Halo
15:51into one multiplayer mode.
15:52It would be awesome.
15:53You go online
15:54and there would be people talking,
15:56you guys need to build
15:57the most epic multiplayer experience.
15:59But we knew the challenge
16:00it was going to be on us
16:01to build a game like this.
16:02We knew we wanted to focus on competitive,
16:05but we also wanted to create something new.
16:08So when Halo 5 came around,
16:09we said, let's go after this.
16:10Let's make the ultimate Halo toy box.
16:12and we really pulled it together
16:14into this all-new massive mode
16:16called Warzone.
16:17There you go.
16:18Here we go.
16:19We're back.
16:19Yeah!
16:20That was awesome.
16:22Warzone is everything in one package.
16:25You have two teams of 12 Spartans
16:28meeting in battle on epic-scale maps.
16:31You have the enemy AI,
16:33you have vehicles,
16:34you have bosses
16:35that will enter the battlefield
16:36at key points,
16:37and the entire time
16:38you're trying to capture
16:40the most victory points for your team.
16:42The guiding principle for Warzone
16:44was the blend of PvE and PvP.
16:47So there's all these different ways
16:49that you can contribute as a player
16:51depending on what your own
16:52individual playstyle is,
16:54and all of it is contributing
16:55to your team's score
16:56and your team's success.
16:58Your goal as a team
16:58is to get 1,000 points
17:00or destroy the enemy team's core.
17:02Buzzlock, two contacts for pick.
17:04Nice job, Red.
17:06The maps in Warzone are huge.
17:09We have maps that are four times as big
17:11as any map we've ever built for Halo.
17:13It's really a careful balance
17:15of making sure that we have
17:16large spaces for incredibly epic combat,
17:20but at the same time
17:21not have it feel sparse.
17:23When you start to match a Warzone,
17:25your base is overrun by enemy AI.
17:27You have to clear your home base out.
17:28When you go out into the Warzone,
17:31you have all these choices
17:32at your disposal.
17:33It's like,
17:33do I want to go and capture a base?
17:35Or do I want to go and do combat
17:37with a boss?
17:38Each team on their side of the map
17:40has an armory.
17:41And then we've got a garage
17:42right in the center.
17:43The main advantage of the garage
17:45is that it is a place
17:46that's further ahead in the battlefield
17:48where you can spawn vehicles.
17:50If you can manage to capture
17:51the three objective bases
17:53that are on the map,
17:54that allows you to then
17:55access their base
17:56and destroy the power core
17:58that's at the center.
17:59I need help in the corner.
18:00Watch out in the corner.
18:01Wow, they're on our core already.
18:02It's a way for a team
18:03that might be out of the battle
18:05to come back
18:06from near defeat
18:07and score that last second victory.
18:13One of the coolest new aspects
18:15of Warzone
18:16is having these bosses
18:17on the battlefield.
18:18You'll be playing the match
18:19and then you'll get a notification
18:20that a boss is coming in.
18:22And for the really good
18:23Warzone teams,
18:24they're going to want to focus
18:25on those bosses right away.
18:27We wanted to bring personality
18:29into the bosses
18:29and fit them into the universe.
18:32Giving them names
18:33and giving them a backstory
18:35gives the player
18:36a sense of accomplishment.
18:38These are characters
18:39who are a big deal
18:40within their own faction.
18:41You've got Baron Shroom
18:43who's patrolling
18:44over the battlefield
18:45in his Banshee
18:46and when he comes out,
18:47that's a moment.
18:48When he spawns,
18:49everyone's like,
18:50Baron's out, Baron's out!
18:51And everyone's running over, right,
18:53and trying to get the Baron first.
18:54You're going to then
18:55have to decide
18:55in this boss fight.
18:56Do I focus on killing the boss
18:58or do I focus on
19:00trying to fight
19:01the other team
19:01off of the boss?
19:03There's certain points
19:03in the match
19:04where that next big
19:05legendary boss kill
19:06is going to determine
19:07who wins the game.
19:10We wanted there to be
19:11a sense of balance in there
19:13for what power items
19:14are able to be brought in
19:15at what times.
19:16Everyone goes into Warzone
19:17and they want
19:18three sniper rifles,
19:19you know, four scorpions.
19:21How do we handle it?
19:22How do you balance it?
19:23The requisition system
19:24is a brand new reward
19:25system.
19:26It lets you become
19:27more powerful
19:28as the game progresses.
19:29Everything that you're doing,
19:30all the kills
19:31that you're scoring,
19:32capturing bases,
19:33all of those things
19:34are helping you
19:35gain additional wreck levels.
19:37So within your home base
19:38and each one of the
19:39three objective bases
19:40on every Warzone map,
19:41you have requisition stations.
19:44If the player
19:45has wreck cards
19:46in their inventory,
19:47then they can go
19:48to the terminal
19:48and use those cards
19:50to get all of the best items
19:52from the Halo Sandbox.
19:53The wreck cards
19:54you earn through
19:55through any type
19:56of multiplayer experience.
19:57So if you're playing Arena
19:58or you're playing Warzone,
19:59we will be giving you
20:00wreck packs
20:00as you go up the ranks.
20:02You'll get a requisition pack
20:04and there'll be
20:04random things in there,
20:06everything from weapons
20:07and vehicles
20:07to be used in Warzone
20:08to cosmetic items
20:10you can use both
20:10in Warzone and Arena.
20:12So as I level up
20:14within the match,
20:14I get access
20:15to the higher level cards
20:17that are in my inventory
20:18and I can use
20:19that scorpion card
20:20or that banshee
20:21or that rocket launcher.
20:23No more like fighting
20:24for that one spot
20:25on the map
20:25where the scorpion tank
20:26spawns.
20:27No, I bring my scorpion tank
20:28in with me
20:29in my wreck collection,
20:31but you don't just get
20:32to start the match
20:33and call it in
20:33and just wreck house.
20:34You've got to actually
20:35take bases,
20:36get points,
20:37and as the battle
20:38gets crazier
20:39and everyone's leveling up
20:40together,
20:41your choices get bigger
20:42as well.
20:47In some ways,
20:48Warzone is a Halo player's
20:49dream because it's bringing
20:50together all the best parts
20:51of Halo in one
20:52multiplayer experience.
20:53We want to make sure
20:54that Warzone has something
20:55for everyone in there.
20:57If you want to defend
20:58a base,
20:58you can do that.
20:59You want to go after
21:00the biggest and baddest
21:01bosses and work
21:01with a few teammates,
21:02you can do it.
21:03If you want to protect
21:04your teammates from afar
21:05with a sniper rifle
21:06and if you want to fly
21:06a vehicle around,
21:07you can do that
21:08in Warzone.
21:09It's this crazy mode
21:10where anything is possible.
21:11It really just feels
21:12like you have jumped
21:13into a hot zone.
21:14Dudes are running in,
21:15there's rockets flying
21:16everywhere,
21:17and it's just total chaos.
21:18When we see the Banshees,
21:19the Scorpions,
21:20and the Mantises
21:20all out on the battlefield
21:21and everything is going bananas,
21:22that is my favorite part
21:23of Warzone.
21:24I can't even tell you
21:25how exciting it is.
21:39What did I just watch?
21:40That was like,
21:41I've been asking
21:42for that Halo game
21:43for years.
21:44Now, Josh,
