01:45With drivers racing by, Jamie, takes control of the traffic.

07:22This section of highway is going to be a little bit foggy at times.
07:25That doesn't help matters.
07:27It's been a busy night up here tonight.
07:30Highway crew is trying to keep up.
07:31But there's only so much you can do on a day like this.
07:34Every available hand is out, making sure the highway stays open.
07:38Mike is the operations manager for the day-to-day functions in Revelstoke.
07:44Very focused, highly skilled.

07:58A refrigeration trailer knocked clean off its hitch.
08:03How the heck do you do that?

08:36This thing's probably right off.
08:38But we also need to get that cargo salvaged as quickly as possible,
08:41especially with a perishable load like this.
08:44While he waits for an unload crew,
08:49the highway's foreman is determined to clear the tractor.
08:54Their job is to make sure that the road is flowing
08:56as freely and smoothly as possible.
09:00And we're in obstruction on that road right now.

09:11Mike winches with a line to the tractor's frame.
09:18But the rear axles...

09:24As I'm pulling, I'm watching how the wreck's reacting.
09:27I need to put down and re-rig somewhere better to get a better angle.
09:31That's going to be a little bit of a head-scratcher.

09:59I'm going to try and bring the tractor up without bending or breaking the frame.
10:03Right now, the problem's just going to be getting it to the road in one piece.

10:16It's all pretty good for a buggered-up unit.

10:55In this case, the frame is also bent and cracked.
10:58My biggest concern right now is that if we go down the road, that crack will get worse.
11:03And we'll end up with us dropping the wreck on the highway.
11:07Adding to the pressure, highways authorities urgently want the blocked lane clear.

11:20So we're going to truss it up the best way we can to take it away.

12:56With Jamie in the guide truck, Mark's wrecker will tow the wreck half a kilometer against traffic, crossing at a
13:06nearby turnaround.

14:29but the 40-foot combined unit overshoots the turnaround and risks being hit if it has to
14:39reverse he shouldn't have done a wider turn hard right hard right come on come on come on
14:50you got her at last mark pulls back into the flow of traffic
14:58now i'm a normal truck driving on the highway
15:02we got the job done perfect see how touchy that was the moment that he's across in the right way

18:32it must have taken them all day to unload that trailer

18:37taking your grab on both axles

18:53when you're starting out
18:54you don't really know the limits of the truck
18:56it's going to be the strongest i think
18:58i don't think it's going to slide too much

19:14you might have to rotate the back end around
19:17but something

22:26he must find a way to get his eight foot wide record to the other side
