00:02oh wow oh my god families across Australia are drowning in clutter this is what we took out
00:15of your house for all of them the stakes are high and they're desperate for help clutter
00:25is anything that gets between you and the life you want to live Peter Walsh frees them from the stuff
00:34holding them back while Cherie Barber renovates their homes in record time and Angie Kent brings
00:45much-loved treasures back to life it gives me goosebumps it's the greatest transformation
01:1325 year old Michael was born with cerebral palsy affecting his speech and ability to walk
01:21when he was just 14 his mum died suddenly from a brain hemorrhage and two years ago his dad was
01:28killed in a tragic car accident leaving Michael alone in the family home now his dad's best
01:35friend Anne is worried a new crisis is brewing Michael's a really fun loving guy he's very
01:43positive happy-go-lucky but he hides a lot of his feelings it's a lot for a young person to
01:51suddenly
01:52lose both parents I know he's struggling because the clutter in the place has gotten a lot worse
02:00since his father has passed waking up and looking at the clutter going oh yeah that's not great I do
02:09feel
02:09embarrassed there's a lot of my dad's stuff around and so it can be quite hard to look at it
02:16brings up
02:17some you know good memories but also some painful for one to two Mikey's having a hard time getting rid
02:25of stuff because I feel like he's lost a little bit and he really needs a fresh start
02:41memories of loved ones are precious but being surrounded by their clutter after they're gone
02:46can be paralyzing and for Michael the heartbreaking loss of his parents at such a young age means he
02:53needs our help to move forward with his life oh Michael guess what we're in the right place I can
03:02see clutter already hey may we come in of course okay let's do this come on guys let's go there's
03:12a lot
03:12of stuff in here Michael hello and right hello lots of clutter tell us about these rooms so this is
03:21the
03:22the living room where I will watch TV and chill out huh and occasionally get dressed yes okay so
03:28you've been in this house for 25 years I've lived here with my mum and my dad then they divorced
03:36and
03:36my mum moved out and when I was 14 she had a headache and then she just went to go
03:43lie down and then she
03:45passed away due to a brain hemorrhage and then my dad was struck by a car and that was instant
03:51to death for him I miss them more than anything in the world so you've had quite a bit of
04:01tragedy yes
04:02absolutely and so looking around this house how long has it been like this probably since since
04:09my dad passed away two years ago okay ever since then it has been quite quite hard to you know
04:14what
04:14I've had a bed and go to work and and to do everything okay so talk to me a little
04:20bit about
04:20your cerebral palsy so I did get the start-up from the cerebral palsy okay and my right hand can't
04:27really function as well as my left hand okay so you know it makes it harder for me to lift
04:33to lift
04:34things so if I'm doing work if I'm moving stuff around I'm using up to about five times more energy
04:39than a normal person I used to have to wear the leg brace on my right leg but mum and
04:47dad raised me
04:48to just believe that I was normal like everybody else that there really wasn't anything wrong so I'm
04:55not physically as strong as everybody else but like I don't let that like affect me so this is
05:03virtually still my dad's house okay because there has been nothing that has really changed or has
05:10been added in the two years that he's been gone but and how long have you been in Michael's life
05:16since
05:16he was 12 became really close friends with his dad and for me he's like a son I just love
05:23him I can't
05:24yeah it's hard to put in words I met Michael's father Scotty about 13 years ago and it was not
05:33long after Scotty died I was going through a really rough patch in my life sorry and I swear to
05:42God I
05:42heard my friend Scotty say to me and get up off the couch right now my son needs you sorry
05:51and I heard
05:54it again and not even five seconds later my key was ringing me and I need a lift I'm stuck
06:00in the rain
06:01and I jumped off the couch from that moment it was like okay I have a purpose now Shree what
06:09are you
06:09thinking right now I can see the entry here must say it's not very welcoming you've got a lot of
06:15clutter here I can see old fixtures and fittings old carpet and I must say I'm not so crazy about
06:20the
06:20yellow and ruby red color scheme no what's your style uh I could just uh a masculine style masculine
06:27okay that's good age what do you see here there's a lot of woodwork yes and a first prize is
06:36this
06:37your dad's yes what so he won first place for that bowl there so he was a woodworker by trade
06:43yes
06:43that is beautiful and where did he win first prize in the Royal Melbourne show oh wow so all of
06:50these
06:50things we're seeing around is stuff that he made yes absolutely is it important to you to have these
06:56still in the renovation yes absolutely what do you think your dad would want for you now oh he
07:03wouldn't want me to become my own person and to make this my own house and not my dad's house
07:12yeah
07:12yeah okay we've got a lot of work ahead of us what else do you want us to look at
07:16well if you walk down
07:17the hallway there you've got the master bedroom okay come on guys let's go come on I'm nervous
07:24already let's go okay wow there is definitely a lot of stuff in here so was this your parents room
07:37yes
07:37and how long ago did you move in here about a year ago okay there's a couple of things I
07:43really want to
07:44talk to you about very directly yes how would you describe your state of mind depressed how do you
07:50deal with it just I just I'm able just to just kind of kind of block it out and then
07:57go on with the
07:58rest of my day okay for me there's this interplay between your physical environment and here yes yeah
08:05okay okay and at the moment your physical environment is in total disarray yes it's
08:12like a minefield yeah there are minefields everywhere here for you yes like you open a
08:18cupboard here and there's some of your stuff hmm but then also some of my dad's they're very hard on
08:25it's hard on me sometimes yeah you open the door and it's like the ghost of Scott steps into the
08:32room
08:34you can feel it definitely yeah that's how I can imagine he's doing this every day
08:41these constant reminders of his parents traumatic passing are what I call malignant clutter and putting
08:48off dealing with it has left Michael with unresolved grief and feeling depressed which stops him letting go
08:54of these possessions so he's going to need help to break free of that negative debilitating cycle
09:02what's the future for you just live here maybe start a family okay just live a very happy healthy healthy
09:12life
09:15I love that I love that like you have a dream yeah you have a dream for what you want
09:20yes of course
09:21then we're going to start packing up everything in this room let's get started let's do it awesome
09:29to help Michael feel the house is truly his own the living and dining room hallway and bedroom are all
09:35packed up so everything can be taken to a warehouse for sorting there's a lot of really delicate woodworking
09:43stuff hold this for a sec bubble wrap double wrap them so the frames the wood and the glass stays
09:51protected
09:52you got it yep done
09:59in the backyard Angie's hunting through a pile of unfinished woodwork projects
10:06I've spotted a beautiful old sundial that Michael's dad worked on but it is missing its stand and the
10:12weather hasn't been kind to it so I'm going to give it some much-needed love to make it shine
10:19out the front Sheree notices the garden could also do with some TLC now your front yard I must say
10:26not
10:26looking so great I would love to tidy it up while I'm doing the renovation now I know you don't
10:31drive
10:31so I've organized for Liz from great care to take you to the nursery to choose plants okay off you
10:37go
10:48coming up as the Renault team kick into gear go Peter is forced to slam on the brakes I want
10:56to be
10:56honest with you I'm not confident that there's going to be any change here Michael
11:07the family home 25 year old Michael has lived in all his life is being cleared of clutter and while
11:15his mum had moved out with her things before she died more than a decade ago his dad's belongings
11:21have been left untouched since he passed away two years ago I feel a little bit sad that I have
11:29to
11:29let stuff go but it's it's time for a change I think I'll be a little bit hard for him
11:35because it's
11:36always hard to let go of things especially things that mean so much to you with the last van loaded
11:43up
11:44the contents are taken to a nearby warehouse where the thousands of items are unpacked and separated
11:51into categories while Angie makes sure no treasures are lost in the process this way it's up to Michael
12:00with help from family friend Dan to decide what to keep donate or recycle here we go it's a big
12:07day
12:09Michael's cerebral palsy and unresolved grief over losing his dad have meant his struggle to deal
12:16with this mountain of clutter but to achieve his dream of creating a home that's truly his own while
12:22still honoring memories of the past I need Michael to engage with this difficult task ahead of it Michael
12:29when we got to your house let's be honest there was clutter everywhere on the count of three I would
12:35like you to open your eyes and have a look at what that clutter looks like laid out here before
12:41you
12:42one two three open your eyes oh wow that's a lot first up CDs DVDs books and how many cords
12:59and
12:59electronics does one man need crazy music home goods decorative stuff I know your dad loved woodworking
13:08carving and so on look at this wow and a small amount of this was your dad's clothing yeah a
13:14lot of it is
13:15yours my friend and as well as the clothing 30 pieces of furniture oh wow 111 bins and boxes totes
13:27plastic
13:27containers to get all of your stuff from your home to here yeah fire out what are you thinking it's
13:38just incredible how much stuff had been like gathering over the over the years percentage wise I'd say close
13:46to 80 percent of this needs to go yeah you've had two years to process the grief of your dad
13:52passing but
13:53yet I see a massive amount of memory stuff here yeah and the concern is how we deal with that
14:00it felt
14:01like he's in here at the moment for me you feel his presence yeah in what way it's just like
14:07he's here
14:07with me Mikey to support us yeah help us along yeah we've got a lot to get through let's get
14:14started
14:14come with me let's go come on reducing the clutter is one part of the process another is back at
14:22the
14:22house with just two days and a tight budget to transform the outdated living room dining room and main
14:30bedroom Cherie and the team waste no time ripping out the old fixtures this place looks like it
14:38hasn't been renovated since it was built in the 1970s and that's a far cry from a 25 year old
14:44bachelor's
14:45modern dream and as Michael wants to have it in a masculine style I'm planning to go bold yet
14:51sophisticated to start with I'm tackling the open plan living in dining room which was divided by
14:57mismatched flooring sorry moving the old worn out carpet now the floors in this property are all
15:03over the place some have got holes different color floorboards some are cut out and damaged so I want
15:09to put the floating floorboards across the living room dining room into the hallway so I want to
15:14increase the sense of space within the property yes next Cherie's adding timber moldings to the walls
15:29thinking coming about 150 off the edge there maybe do like a 400 millimeter box frame it top and bottom
15:37then we'll paint it up just add some like decorative charm
15:46once the moldings are in place I can paint over the dated yellow walls with a daring ultra masculine charcoal
15:53grey
15:53that's almost black it'll certainly give a really strong contrast to the crisp white ceiling and cornices
15:59the fingers crossed I'm not going too dark with his traumatic transformation
16:07go all of them yep good back at the warehouse go Michael is rapidly culling go his dad's CD and
16:16DVD
16:17collection and go one of the speediest sorts I've ever seen and it appears Michael's having no problem
16:24letting nearly all of it go go go so Peter swiftly moves on to sorting through clothes many of these
16:35items also belong to Michael's dad go and again most go straight to donation and go with zero emotional
16:43attachment it's feeling a little too easy I'm worried he'll suffer huge remorse afterwards by letting go of
16:50stuff too quickly with so little reflection and I fear Michael is dealing with these grief related items
16:57just like his depression getting on with it but at the same time blocking it out
17:07speed versus change which do you think I prefer change change and I'm worried at the moment that the
17:15whole emphasis here is on speed there's only one person I'm concerned about as we process through
17:22this you what is all this stuff called we're dealing with clutter clutter you want to know another term
17:33for clutter decisions delayed which makes you a procrastinator you got it a procrastinator I'll get to
17:43that letter later so clutter is decisions delayed which are things done later now one of the problems when
17:53that happens is that it takes up a ton of extra energy that rang a huge bell for me because
18:00with your
18:00disability how much energy do you spend compared to me five times and what that leads to
18:13is burnout yeah which leads to your state of mind which is depressed now I'm worried that you're focused on
18:26speed
18:29versus change yeah you're zooming through this and I want to be honest with you I feel like the only
18:35thing I'm doing for you right now is cleaning your house I'm worried that in a month or two months
18:43or
18:43three months you're going to be right back here I'm not confident that there's going to be any change
18:50here Michael and the problem is that if you don't deal with clutter you end up in this cycle cycle
18:57yet
18:58possibly leading back down here yeah back to back back to depression so what are you going to do to
19:04break
19:06this cycle yeah it's tough but um what's tough just getting through the grief and you know and just
19:16trying to bring myself out of the uh the hole that I've gone into gone into okay that's an honest
19:24admission it's about change not speed yeah let's keep going
19:30coming up Angie uncovers a unique treasure oh my god that's so special and Michael faces a difficult
19:39decision because your dad made it doesn't mean that you have to keep it
19:49as the renovation continues inside Michael's house outside the overgrown front garden is also getting
19:57much needed attention with Michael's cerebral palsy in mind we're making the new garden beds low
20:04maintenance with slow growing plants and thick mulch to keep the weeds away
20:15removing the weeds exposed the metal fence that's seen better days with the old paint flaking off it
20:21really should be repainted every seven to ten years to prevent rust so I'm using a spray gun to give
20:29it a
20:29bright new coat while making sure there's no wind so I avoid over spray
20:39at the warehouse Angie's keen to chat with Michael about photos and artwork she found amongst the clutter
20:46this photo here yes I'm guessing this is your beautiful father yes he had just come back from a
20:52night out and he called out to me Mikey let's take a selfie it's time to party and he loved
20:57to chat
20:58he loved the chat and that was basically about a week before he passed away oh really yeah would
21:05this be the last yes this is the last photo that we took together oh it's a beautiful one look
21:11how
21:11happy he is and you know that you got to have a nice big chat with your dad that night
21:15absolutely
21:16what about this one so I was probably about seven that is my dad and that is my beautiful mum
21:23that's
21:24your mum do you have many photos together you three uh no no okay these are very very very special
21:33yes
21:33they are all right and this one over here is obviously your beautiful mama again what do you
21:38remember about her she was a very loving caring person so she took me to all the appointments because
21:45my disabilities she was you know always there for me yeah and then can we have a little chat about
21:53these so I saw these randomly on the fridge yeah so my mum loved to just sketch things okay and
22:00then
22:00she put them up on the fridge so once she passed away my dad said to me goes oh I
22:04think that'd be good
22:05good if we kept them we'll leave them there as a good memory that's so nice so how long do
22:10you reckon
22:10they've been on the fridge for I'd say probably about 16 years maybe and they never moved and
22:15they never moved yeah oh my god that's so special Michael's memories are beautiful so I want to take
22:23extra care of these precious photos and artwork I'm going to pop them into these new floating frames
22:29after I've sprayed them the same dark shade of grey that'll match Marie's renault colour scheme
22:37I noticed there are a lot of guitars in your home yeah my dad ever since I was young he
22:43wanted me to
22:44play an instrument because he said look I can teach you how to play right-handed even though you're
22:48left-handed so that way you can strengthen up your right hand a little bit okay and then you know
22:53you
22:53can do all the main heavy lifting with your good good hand okay so in some ways music was not
23:00just a
23:01passion but it was kind of a bit of a guerrilla way of therapy and development for you as well
23:08along with helping Michael's cerebral palsy music was clearly a strong bond between father and son
23:14hopefully there are treasures here that can trigger Michael to reflect on the past and make well-considered
23:20choices me and my dad made this one come on are you serious so I did all of the carving
23:33and my dad did
23:34the remainder of the work how long did this take probably I'd say about six months so he
23:42this was my first guitar seriously I'm kind of speechless it's kind of a work of art so he did
23:50all that by
23:50hand so no machines or anything definitely keep so I'm relieved that Michael's not blocking this
23:58out by speeding through it these stay or go keep but for the home to finally feel like his this
24:06guy
24:06a keep okay so this is a keep as well I worry now he's keeping too much that is a
24:15puzzle that my dad put
24:16together so I would say that is a keep I want to push you a little bit at the moment
24:24because your dad made it doesn't mean that you have to keep it because it's a great memory but
24:33compared to this in terms of importance which holds greater importance the guitar absolutely yeah and
24:40I keep talking about always kind of a hierarchy of value this stands right at the very peak yeah yeah
24:46so can that go yes good let's keep going yes hopefully this is a step towards getting the balance
24:55right this stay okay okay with Michael keeping the treasures that mean the most to him
25:03and letting the rest go the tuning forks that can go okay and the harp go as well okay great
25:10so this
25:11is what's being kept here yeah this is now part of your home absolutely ready to keep going of course
25:17let's go
25:20coming up sheree feels the pressure there's a lot of painting not much time while letting go triggers
25:28strong emotions for ann yeah it's hard yeah
25:37at michael's house the paint crew are hard at work in the living area and main bedroom all right there's
25:44a lot of painting not much time the old bedroom that was originally michael's mum and dad's was
25:49definitely stuck in the past but the wall color was a really good idea green is very calming so to
25:56modernize it i'm going a couple of shades darker
26:03all right here we go i also want to make sure the bedroom feels really comfortable underfoot
26:09the carpet that was here before had been here for about 30 years
26:13so we're laying a plush new carpet in a neutral gray to offset the wall color
26:28outside new bedroom furniture sheree ordered has arrived the old bed michael was sleeping in was
26:35actually his dad's with a dark heavy headboard and side tables that desperately need replacing
26:42so i've chosen a beautiful light timber there's still a small nod towards michael
26:46and his dad's shared love of wood it's actually a really good bed for this room isn't it because
26:50there's not much room on the side so the fact this bed's got drawers down the end i love it
27:01over at the warehouse angie is tackling a woodwork project of her own this sundial was left unfinished
27:09by michael's dad after he passed away so i really want to honor his memory by completing it the timber
27:16base needs restoring after years of sitting in a pile outside luckily the wood hasn't started to rot
27:23so i'm sanding it right back then giving it three coats of marine grade varnish to protect it from
27:28the sun and rain as the doll shows no sign of rust i can polish it up with metal cleaner
27:35to make it look
27:36as good as new to add a stand to the base i picked up a second hand bird bar it's
27:43covered in algae growth
27:44but it'll clean up a treat with hot soapy water and a little bit of elbow grease once done this
27:51will
27:51become the centerpiece of michael's renewed front garden and a beautiful reminder of his dad
27:58so michael we gathered all of the pieces of woodwork yes and we've laid them out here on the tables
28:05a lot yes the woodwork projects michael's dad scott spent decades building are perhaps the most
28:13difficult part of his legacy to deal with but i'm hoping michael can strike a thoughtful balance
28:18while choosing what to keep and what to let go of because if he goes back to rushing now he
28:24might
28:25regret his decisions forever okay so these items here uh that can go okay these guys that they can go
28:32okay this guy keep why because it was one of his puzzles that he would talk about all the time
28:40he would
28:40always say well how did i get get in there and how did he get it in there he ended
28:45up just weakening the
28:46hole and then he got a mallet and then he smashed the arrow through he smashed the arrow through that
28:51hole yeah i think he did it with magic but okay i'll accept it anyway okay so this is staying
28:57yeah
28:58it's great to see michael so engaged i made this with my dad at his workshop good so this is
29:05the key
29:05yep yep and that speed mode is off that's got a lot of memories he threw it into our front
29:11yard
29:12and he forgot about it for a week and it was still there it was stuck right right in the
29:16ground
29:16so that is a keep okay but he's also making the tough decisions they really don't hold any
29:22significant memories to me okay so they can be done okay good this guy uh donate
29:31i'm sorry what's going through your head right now oh just how much he used to talk about this
29:37table how proud he was of it yeah this would definitely be a keep yeah i just remember scotty
29:43like his personality him you know all the craft work he used to do just his bubbly stuff i just
29:50can
29:50feel him in it almost yeah yeah yeah it's hard yeah emotionally the grief is a lot closer to the
30:00surface for ann but michael clearly also cherishes his dad's memory he was very very very proud okay
30:06so again this is a huge memory piece absolutely and is getting the balance right state uh go no longer
30:15over representing his dad in what can now become michael's home last of all good shot of your dad
30:21keep okay good amazing job how are you feeling yeah good because all this stuff that i've kept is stuff
30:29that he will talk about all the time and every single story once you start telling it your face lights
30:35up
30:35you light up like a christmas tree there it is there and he steps right back in not as a
30:42ghost
30:43but as a really happy memory yeah there it is yeah okay we still have a little bit more to
30:49do let's go
30:50come on coming up as sheree's team race to make their deadline oh my god michael and ann
31:01are stunned by their declutter result i can't believe it
31:10as the renovation rubbish is being removed from the front of michael's house
31:16inside the team still have a lot to get done in a short amount of time
31:22to modernize the entryway's old curved style picture rails
31:26sheree's replacing them with the same square edge timber mouldings as the living and dining room
31:32while this will tie together the spaces i'm cautious not to overdo michael's preferred masculine style
31:38so to offset the dark and moody living area i'm painting the entry and hallway a bright warm neutral
31:46and to make the dark colored living and dining room pop good lighting is crucial
31:52the two old pendants gave me a bad 1980s vibe so i'm replacing one with an eye-catching gold dome
31:58and the other with the sleek minimalist look plus we're adding down lights and wall lights to show
32:07off the elegant new furniture and cabinetry we're installing as well as the old treasures coming back
32:14to the house meanwhile michael's fully engaged with culling the last of the clutter keep go
32:24making well considered choices be it for shoes artwork go bedding good table and chairs go or old furniture
32:35second couch go and go while angie tallies up how much has been donated to charity
32:47okay good finally it's time for the results of the huge effort michael and you have worked incredibly
32:56hard to go through a mountain of clutter that michael we brought from your house here to the hall crazy
33:02on the count of three i want you to open your eyes and check out the amount of stuff that
33:07you are

35:01out in the new garden angie completes her sundial project
35:05as the inside gets a much needed clean and the bedroom is organized please tell me this is the
35:12laundry basket awesome one of michael's big problems he has a floor drove all over the place
35:26i must admit i've stepped out of my comfort zone trying to get this masculine style right
35:32i was worried it can end up looking a bit bleak but the beautiful pieces michael's dad created
35:39really helped the spaces come alive with a striking unique identity so i'm hoping this is exactly the
35:46kind of bachelor pad michael will be proud to call his own coming up oh my god oh wow the
35:59renovation blows
36:11michael and ann are about to see the renovated home for the first time i'm so so excited to see
36:17my new

36:24be really
36:25good for him to have a new space it's going to make him stronger and also believe in himself it's
36:31going to be awesome michael and remember when we first stepped into this house remember the red
36:39couches remember there was clothing all over the floor it was a ton of clutter well on the count of

36:54eyes
36:55oh my god oh my god it looks amazing it's beautiful

37:14but a modern young bachelor's haven that retains happy memories from the past
37:21oh my god yeah wow incredible that is beautiful i could never have dreamed it would look this good
37:27sorry you've done an amazing job thank you so much the tears say it all all right first of all
37:33i went
37:33the bold color scheme michael i really want this property to feel masculine what do you think of the
37:37color oh i think it's incredible you've actually got these gorgeous cornices and what the black does it
37:42actually makes them pop your walls were pretty plain before so we added these wall moldings just
37:47to make them look better and we've also installed all new gorgeous lighting so even though it's a
37:52really dark color it doesn't feel like a dark home i think the biggest change for me was taking out
37:57your
37:58grungy carpet that's been here for about 30 or 40 years yes and you've got these beautiful floating
38:05floorboards now and your dad's coffee table is the centerpiece of the room incredible it looks amazing
38:11yeah it does there's also the dining room which is an extension of this space turn around and check
38:16out your dining room oh wow wow wow that's so good i love it it's incredible
38:32the dining room continues the bold inviting theme ready for michael to entertain guests
38:39oh the plate yeah the play on display well michael i want you to have friends over so you've got
38:45a
38:45beautiful dining setting there for six people you've got the dome light so it's a bit of mood lighting
38:50through there beautiful you've got a beautiful buffet so lots of storage again your little treasures are
38:55there and you've got the beautiful privacy curtains there beautiful
39:01the entry was another throwback to a bygone era with dreary yellow walls old furniture
39:08and gym equipment that made for a cluttered space so check out your new entry hall wow yeah it's so
39:15good
39:16i love that
39:23now it's bright elegant and functional perfectly connecting the rest of the house
39:30incredible yeah it looks amazing i love what you've done with my mum's picture
39:36framed it up yeah it's so good
39:40i thought it would be nice to have the memories right as you walk in yeah all my duds would
39:46work
39:46as well yeah it's wonderful well we painted throughout we've obviously put the storage shelves
39:52it's really nice and bright now and it's a very different contrast to the black colors incredible
39:57beautiful i think it's going to be an amazing new start for him with his dad's little memories here and
40:05there but also a new place that says mikey's home
40:11the bedroom was largely how michael's dad left it with his generation's furniture and style
40:18making michael feel like he didn't belong there
40:23oh wow that's incredible
40:32wow it's so beautiful that looks amazing oh my god i love it
40:41now it's been reborn with a modern sophisticated update fit for a 25 year old young man
40:49look at the furniture yeah the bed amazing oh the walls incredible oh and the carpet yeah the
40:56carpet curtains the beautiful wood furniture stunning oh i'm glad you like it so we've painted
41:02throughout did this beautiful green color it's a very relaxing color which is really appropriate
41:08for a bedroom we put the wall moldings on for decorative effect we've got the same pendant
41:14light that's in the dining room beautiful to tie the rooms together we've got the beautiful block
41:18out curtains so they won't let the sun in if you don't want them to and this gorgeous bedroom suite
41:24and i chose this one because it's all made out of wood it's a little nod to your dad and
41:29here
41:30a bit of a nod to your dad as well oh incredible well this was your dad's room and your
41:35dad's home
41:35for me now it has your imprint all over it does it feel like your space yes absolutely i absolutely
41:43love it it's everything i could have ever wanted for it to feel like my home we still have one
41:50more
41:50beautiful space to show you you ready for another little surprise absolutely then let's do it the front
41:55yard was badly overgrown and a maintenance nightmare with weeds overrunning every garden bed
42:05it's the first time you've seen the yard wow wow
42:13now low maintenance plants and a thick layer of mulch
42:17promise less upkeep giving michael more time to focus on his hopes and dreams
42:23oh incredible i love it first of all have you noticed that your fence is a different color
42:28it looks amazing we also did a big de-weeding of your garden you might remember it looked a little
42:34bit like a forest yeah a little bit you went to the nursery and chose these plants they're all low
42:39maintenance so they'll grow beautifully and you'll have a really established garden that you won't need
42:44to some tend to too often and this one special thing here as well ang well i love going through
42:51all
42:51the little treasures and i did find your dad's sundial at the back and i've given it a bit of
42:57a
42:57george so you can come out here and you've got a little piece of your dad out here still as
43:00well
43:01amazing awesome michael how have you found the week it's been an incredibly rewarding experience
43:07and i thank you so much for for helping me through it
43:12living with cerebral palsy and losing both parents at a young age led to clutter taking over michael's home
43:20but with and support and the courage to engage with his past he's made space in his life for a
43:27bright
43:28new future
