00:16ever chosen versus the ever watcher, but spoiler alert, if you don't want to see or have any end game
00:21spoiled for you, look away now and you know, join it after you've played a bit, but Darren tell us
00:26what's going on with this.
00:27Yeah, so basically we're playing as chaos and we're playing against chaos and like Joey said, spoiler alert, toward the
00:34end of your campaign, a certain guy will appear in it and he will attack you with a large end
00:40game force over and over again and this will happen even if you don't play as chaos, he'll come in
00:45a little bit earlier, I think it's around turn 130 ish, it's in the hundreds anyway, where you'll encounter another
00:52chaos army.
00:53So I'm playing as Archeon, the ever chosen and I've got my army here of Forsaken, I've got some Chosen,
01:01Chosen with Halberds, lots of late game units here like Chaos Trolls, this is a Metal Sorcerer here and a
01:07Dragon Ogre Shagoth, so it's quite a big force going up against another big force and it's worth mentioning that
01:13usually they spawn with two, the one I'll be fighting, but I've already killed one of them.
01:16So it's just a 1v1 kind of army on army battle here. And we're fighting in the Chaos Wastes.
01:23It is very atmospheric. Yes, this is Sarthorial, this is the main antagonist for Total War Warhammer. He's not Zeech
01:31himself, he is just an agent of Zeech, he's a grated demon and, well, he means business. He's out for
01:38you.
01:39He's pretty big. He's probably one of the biggest units in the game and he's extremely powerful, as we'll see
01:44pretty soon. This is a battle replay that we're flying around here and I've also introduced some cinematic shots just
01:50to get you a good view of what he's capable of.
01:54Basically, you can just see the AI is just having a quick reshuffle here as they get up close to
01:57them. They're putting their kind of chariots on the wings and their knights behind them.
02:01They've got a lot of Chaos Trolls themselves, but their ones aren't armoured and Sarthorial himself has got the Lore
02:09of Metal, so you'll see him casting some spells now pretty soon.
02:12And they've got a Hellcannon constantly firing on me as well, so that's why I'm constantly moving up.
02:17I see the Tendrils coming up there, Chaos Tendrils underneath them. Yeah, everywhere he walks.
02:21And here he's actually casting a spell. I can't remember the name of it, but it is the Metal Bombardment
02:27spell that comes down.
02:28But he's actually just kind of missed, although he does another one later that's a little bit more devastating.
02:33Yeah, but you see, what are those tentacles on his staff? It's pretty grim.
02:37Yeah, it is nasty. And his staff, he is the Ever Watcher, and his staff has like a little eye
02:41on it as well.
02:42So, I don't know much about what that means.
02:46Lots of eyes with Leech, actually, lots of them.
02:50So look at that, that just looks amazing. He can actually fly just a little bit.
02:53So when he's charging in, he kind of takes off a little bit, comes down and flies in.
02:57And I got Archeon to fire a fireball at him, but he just missed.
03:00And you can just see, he's actually absolutely racking up.
03:03He's just throwing everybody around. Forsaken are a really good unit, really high damage dealers, and he's just throwing them
03:07around.
03:08And the whole line's been engaged here straight away.
03:10You can see on the radar, like everything's quite busy. Everything's in combat at the moment.
03:16I've got my Shagoth moving around. I've also cast the Fate of Buena on their Hellcannon just to kill it.
03:20Although I didn't realize it actually doesn't actually do too much damage against it for some reason.
03:25So I decided to do the Unthinkable, but it is a replay, so I have paused it.
03:30Just because so much was going on that I felt it was worth showing just everyone's bogged down.
03:35So I've got my Chaos Knights mixed in with their chariots and their knights.
03:38Oof.
03:39Actually on both flanks as well. You can see they've actually got a lot more on this side.
03:42Yeah.
03:43And it's really, it's kind of hard to see because we're all Chaos, you know, and the Chaos Wastes is
03:47really dark and grim and red.
03:49So it was really hard to keep track of what was going on.
03:51You're holding a nice line in the center though.
03:53Yeah, so it just kept kind of a steady line across and Sothorial is in there like kind of moving
04:00everything around, shaking things up quite dramatically.
04:03And Archeon is in there as well fighting.
04:05So it's pretty cool. Like for an endgame battle, like it's really, really serious and things go by really quickly
04:10in this battle because it's such high tier units.
04:12So you really have to focus on it. It's really difficult to play if you don't pause it, especially when
04:18you're fighting the two armies.
04:19And you can see he's just casting all his metal spells to kind of weaken our armor.
04:23And I've got Archeon casting buffs to the Flaming Sword of Ruin I believe.
04:30And you can see their trolls are running away but they're coming back. I've got my armored ones fighting their
04:33regular ones.
04:34I love the armored ones. They've got like all scaffolding on their back basically. It looks really cool.
04:38Horrible.
04:39And I'm bringing halberds out to help the cavalry fight on the sides.
04:42So how are you doing with Archeon there?
04:44Okay, so I've just pulled them out actually. Going to try and take another shot, another fireball shot.
04:48But Archeon is ranked up almost fully at this point in the campaign.
04:52And I've got him to have a double fireball spell. Usually it's just one. So here he's going to throw
04:57two at him.
04:58Smack right into him.
05:00And he just kind of turns and he's like, what was that?
05:02So it's not too bad.
05:04But yeah, so Sathorial is super powerful. Way more powerful I think than Archeon usually.
05:08And he's really high rank as well. I think he's like rank 20.
05:11So you can just see, you know, no pun intended, but the chaos going on here.
05:14The giant's messing things up. The shag up in there as well.
05:17Come on, it was a little bit intended.
05:19Yeah.
05:21So yeah, I got my metal wizard to cast spirit leech on him.
05:24So that's obviously really good against single entities and lords.
05:27So that just starts draining his health.
05:29But again, you know, I've got like four units on this guy.
05:31He's completely bogged down.
05:32He's just throwing guys around.
05:34And I was just checking his health there.
05:35And he's casting more metal spells and bombardment spells.
05:38He brought that one down right on a group of my own guys.
05:41Did a huge amount of damage.
05:43But finally we're able to take him out.
05:45So it takes about four units and a lot of spells to bring him down.
05:49But finally the enemy lord is wounded.
05:51And he might come back at some point.
05:54So you might see him resurface again.
05:56But eventually if you push them back into the chaos waste,
05:59you can kill him for good and stamp out the chaos invasion.
06:02Get an age of peace.
06:03And you don't have to worry about them anymore.
06:06Although I am playing as chaos.
06:07So it took you basically four solid units and Archaon to get him down.
06:11Yeah.
06:12Yeah, basically.
06:13And that was consistent throughout the majority of the battle.
06:15He is no joke.
06:16No, no.
06:16It's really serious.
06:17When you're not playing as chaos.
06:18If you're not prepared for Sothorial's army,
06:21you're going to have a really bad time.
06:22Especially if he's laying siege and stuff.
06:24He'll come through the gates and just destroy a bunch of people.
06:26Come on, Darren's top tips.
06:27What do you advise to face Sothorial?
06:30So it depends.
06:31So I'm playing as chaos.
06:32Sothorial appears slightly differently when you're playing as chaos.
06:34He'll appear with two armies, two full stacks on your legendary lord straight away.
06:40So it's like a massive civil war almost.
06:42And if you're not playing as chaos,
06:44he'll slowly come down in one of the many invasions that comes down.
06:48And it's usually just best to bring a lot of spears and stuff.
06:51Because he has a lot of trolls and tall and large units that you want to be able to take
06:55down.
06:55But basically you just need to outnumber him.
06:58He's so powerful you'll need to just overwhelm him.
07:00Because he's going to kill a lot.
07:02There's really nothing you can do about it.
07:04And just...
07:05It's all...
07:05Your whole campaign builds up to the point where you have to fight him.
07:07So you have to be prepared in terms of your spells and your leveling up and stuff.
07:11You just need to be ready for basically a massive endgame boss essentially.
07:15Oh yeah.
07:16So that's basically it.
07:17Once he dropped down, most of the rest of the army started to rat.
07:21You'll notice at the end as well, it didn't actually get that many kills.
07:24It needed a day.
07:25We just ended up kind of breaking...
07:26I ended up breaking their army and routing them.
07:29So you do have to chase them down and make sure they don't come back.
07:32Because they will just keep coming back if you're not careful with it.
07:35And that was just their final unit gone there, which is their Hellcannon.
07:38They don't tend to break very easily.
07:39And that was it.
07:40So that's basically a close victory.
07:43I think if I didn't take Sothorial down quickly, I wouldn't have been able to win probably.
07:49So yeah, there's the stats losses.
07:50Like I took 400 losses and they only took 500 losses.
07:53And they had much less than me.
07:55But they had a lot more monstrous infantry.
07:57So yeah, it's a pretty good battle.
