00:04Tonight on MonsterQuest, there are specific areas of unexplained activity that exist all
00:13across the country. The Skinwalker Ranch continues to attract strange phenomena.
00:20Unexplained animal deaths, eerie encounters, strange lights in the sky.
00:25They are known as hotspots, locations where reports of unknown creatures and strange encounters
00:32happen over and over again. This creature is stalking me. It could have been torn up,
00:40you know, into pieces. For many centuries, people have reported strange and sometimes
00:47terrifying encounters with what they describe as monsters. Its eyes just lit up in the moon and
00:54were like, that is nothing I've ever seen. If I try to run, I'd be dead.
01:01Now, for the first time, some are sharing their experiences. Is there a pattern to their encounters?
01:09It was just terrifying.
01:12And if so, what could it mean?
01:22Skinwalker Ranch, a 512-acre stretch of land in Utah's Uinta Basin, has become one of the most infamous
01:31paranormal hotspots in the world. A place long associated with reports of unknown beasts,
01:38shadowy entities, and unidentified flying objects.
01:44Today, the ranch's current owner oversees scientific studies in an effort to understand the unexplained
01:51activity that seems to surround this land.
01:54While investigations are ongoing, reports of strange phenomena in the Uinta Basin are anything
02:02but new.
02:04The Ute tribe have stories dating back centuries that involve strange lights seen in the sky
02:09and also star people traveling here from other galaxies.
02:13There are a lot of tales from Native people saying they had seen strange lights in the sky, but they
02:19aren't the only ones. Franciscan priests traveling in the area in the 17th century wrote in their
02:25journals about seeing strange lights in the sky that moved erratically and then would suddenly disappear.
02:32Similar reports continued into the 20th century. Since the 1950s alone, there have been more than 400
02:38reports involving lights in the sky. At one point in the 1970s, reported sightings became so frequent
02:45that local law enforcement stopped taking official reports.
02:49In 1994, the Sherman family purchased a ranch in the Uinta Basin with no idea of the history of the
02:59land it sat on.
03:00Land that would one day be the site of the infamous Skinwalker Ranch.
03:09Terry and Gwen Sherman are successful cattle ranchers looking to expand their business with
03:15the new property.
03:17When Terry and Gwen visit to check out the property, they say they love what they see.
03:22It's a strange house, but they believe the land is perfect. They decide to go for it and buy the
03:29ranch.
03:30As the family begins to settle into life on their new ranch, several unsettling events begin.
03:40While checking on their cattle, they claim to find these huge circular burn marks.
03:46Leading from the burn marks are also unusual animal tracks they say they can't identify.
03:53Their prized livestock start turning up dead all over the property.
03:58And the Shermans are concerned because they don't think it looks like it's from natural causes.
04:02They say the cattle have been mutilated.
04:05Further, organs and tissue have been removed with surgical precision.
04:13The Shermans press on, rebuilding their ranch and replacing their animals.
04:19But months later, they claim to come face to face with the creature they believe is behind the attacks.
04:29Terry, Gwen, and the children are outside tending to the cattle in a corral when they say they notice a
04:36large wolf.
04:38They say it's unlike any wolf they've ever encountered.
04:41It doesn't seem afraid of them.
04:44It's also incredibly large, maybe three times the size of a normal wolf.
04:50According to the story, this wolf lunges at a newborn cat.
04:54And it tries to pull it out of the corral.
04:58Terry grabs his .358 magnum, takes careful aim, and pulls the trigger.
05:04But nothing happens.
05:06There's no blood.
05:08But when he fires his last round,
05:11then he says the creature suddenly lets go and finally runs off.
05:17Terry and his son say they try to track the predator,
05:20but after about a mile, its tracks suddenly end, as if the creature has vanished.
05:29Terry searches for answers, but the only explanation he says he finds comes from Native American lore,
05:35which describes something called a skinwalker,
05:38a former shaman who takes on supernatural powers and can shapeshift at will.
05:45According to Ute lore, skinwalkers infest this entire region.
05:50It's said that their presence stems from a war that broke out between the Navajo and the Ute tribe in
05:55the 1840s.
05:57As the story goes, the Navajo called upon dark forces to curse the Ute,
06:02summoning skinwalkers to haunt and harass their enemies in retaliation,
06:06presiding with the U.S. Army.
06:08Some people believe that the land where the Sherman Ranch sits is right in the heart of that cursed territory.
06:15Inside the Sherman's new house, they say things are unraveling as well.
06:20The TV and radio sometimes turn on and off by themselves,
06:25and clocks and appliances start to malfunction.
06:28These unusual incidents continue to escalate,
06:31and before long, Gwen says she's seeing things happening in the house.
06:35Dark, shadowy figures in hallways and corners of the home.
06:39She believes these figures that she sees in the corners are dark entities.
06:44Over time, facing wave after wave of escalating and terrifying encounters,
06:49they say they start eventually sleeping in one room with their weapons out.
06:56For the next several months, the family says it scrapes by,
07:01trying to survive the bizarre things that are happening on their ranch.
07:06Then, in the summer of 1995, about a year after the Shermans first move in,
07:12they say a series of tragedies pushes them to their physical and emotional breaking point.
07:18One night, Terry Sherman is outside when he sees a huge orange orb in the sky.
07:26Beams of light come down from it, and Terry says it seems to scan the property from the sky.
07:34The orbs are so terrifying that the Shermans say their beloved dogs bring it to action,
07:40chasing after them into the woods, trying to protect the family.
07:46But the dogs never return.
07:49The Shermans desperately search for their beloved pets,
07:53only to find them in a wooded area, no longer alive, their bodies seemingly liquefied.
08:04In 1996, just two years after moving in,
08:08the Shermans decide to put their ranch up for sale.
08:11This seems like it's going to be a hard sell because of all the paranormal activity
08:16and the skinwalker sightings on the ranch.
08:19But after reading about the strange happenings on the Sherman ranch,
08:23a man makes an offer to buy the ranch for $200,000.
08:28It's less than what the Shermans paid for it,
08:30but they say to get out, they're more than happy to accept the loss.
08:37The Shermans tell a reporter for the Deseret News essentially everything that's happened.
08:42Their bizarre and unprecedented story fascinates and spreads worldwide.
08:48Their property earns a new moniker, Skinwalker Ranch.
08:53It's been decades since the Shermans sold Skinwalker Ranch,
08:57but the strange occurrences there continue.
09:00The Skinwalker Ranch is a notorious hotspot for chilling accounts of unexplained phenomena.
09:06But across the country, the small town of Point Pleasant, West Virginia,
09:11became the alleged home to another creature,
09:14what would come to be known as...
09:21Between November of 1966 and December of 1967,
09:26there are more than a hundred sightings of this winged creature terrorizing Point Pleasant.
09:32The descriptions of this creature are different from anything else that had been heard before or since.
09:39They all describe a creature that's seven to nine feet tall with these huge, terrifying feathery wings.
09:46And these glowing red eyes.
09:49And perhaps most frightening, this terrifying cry.
09:54One of those 100 sightings comes in November 1966 from Christina Bennett,
10:00who believes she was one of the first people to come face to face with the Mothman.
10:07We've been in Point Pleasant for generations upon generations.
10:11I had a great childhood growing up, you know.
10:13I mean, it was a close-knit family.
10:16Sunday dinners at Grandma's house.
10:19But that day, it changed.
10:23In November 1966,
10:27four-year-old Christina joins her aunt, uncle, and mother to visit her cousins.
10:34After a few hours, they prepare to drive home.
10:38It was just getting dark.
10:41And we were heading back to the car.
10:44And mother went to the passenger side with me.
10:50She just sensed that she was, she just kind of looked over her shoulder.
10:57And she thought, well, you know, that's odd.
11:02She saw the red eyes.
11:04It was, like, hunkered down, like this.
11:10My mother was just, like, in so much shock that she couldn't move.
11:15She was frozen.
11:17I just remember looking up and seeing this creature and that it screeched.
11:28My mother started screaming.
11:32I mean, she was just hysterical.
11:41November 1966, Point Pleasant, West Virginia.
11:47Christina Bennett says she and her family come face-to-face
11:51with a feathery, red-eyed creature
11:53that will later become known as the Mothman.
11:58Uncle Raymond came around to the other side of the car,
12:02and he grabbed a hold of me and my mother
12:05and took us back into the house.
12:10It came up on the porch.
12:12And at that point, my cousins were terrified.
12:16They were screaming.
12:17We were all screaming.
12:18Don't go outside.
12:19Please don't go outside.
12:21They go to get the gun.
12:24Uncle Raymond said, I'll go outside.
12:28My uncle was, you know, a coal miner, Uncle Raymond,
12:31so he wouldn't have been afraid about anything.
12:34But he was even shaken up.
12:39I remember my mother saying,
12:41you're going to have to shoot it, Raymond.
12:43You're going to have to shoot it.
12:51But it's gone.
12:56It disappeared.
12:58Christina says they then call the Point Pleasant Sheriff
13:01and learn that they aren't the first witnesses
13:04to report a feathery, red-eyed creature.
13:07The day before the Bennett's encounter,
13:09local police field a call from two married couples
13:12who report the presence of a strange creature lurking in the woods.
13:16According to them, among the trees are reflected back
13:21two huge red eyes.
13:24The four eyewitnesses say they're terrified.
13:27The driver peels off away from the creature.
13:30The eyewitnesses file a report,
13:33and they describe seeing the creature shoot straight up into the air,
13:37and then it followed their car flying back and forth
13:42across the back end of it,
13:43which is really quite impressive
13:45because they said they were going 100 to 105 miles per hour.
13:50Another witness actually described
13:52hearing the massive wings flap.
13:57One witness draws a rough sketch of this angry-looking creature.
14:08Three days after that initial sighting,
14:11the Gettysburg Times cited eight other people
14:14who claimed to have seen the winged creature.
14:20Dozens and dozens of reports continue to pile up.
14:23The unique and uniform nature of the sightings
14:26take over local news.
14:28But it's what happens next
14:30that pushes the tiny town of Point Pleasant
14:32into the national spotlight.
14:36It was December the 15th,
14:39a year after the sighting started.
14:42Point Pleasant Silver Bridge
14:44is packed with bumper-to-bumper traffic,
14:47full of Christmas shoppers and commuters
14:50winding their way home,
14:51when suddenly a deafening noise fills the air
14:55as the bridge begins to wobble.
15:00The steel suspension bridge collapses entirely.
15:0631 vehicles plunge into the frigid waters below,
15:11killing 46.
15:13It was traumatic for a small town.
15:17You know, it was 10 days before Christmas,
15:19and we have Christmas presents floating down the river
15:23and people trying to find people.
15:28But there is a strange coincidence.
15:32That morning, several townspeople reported seeing a menacing winged creature flying near the bridge.
15:39In the aftermath,
15:41there is a popular theory that emerges
15:43that Mothman being there was actually a warning of this disaster coming.
15:49After the bridge fell,
15:51my mother and Uncle Raymond and Aunt Catherine also,
15:53they felt that the Mothman was the omen.
16:00This had a correlation.
16:04I really feel that it was a first-class warning.
16:08An investigation eventually reveals why the silver bridge collapsed.
16:14A fracture in an eye bar caused a suspension chain to give way,
16:18which toppled the entire bridge.
16:21But locals still debate whether the creature's reported appearance was a curse.
16:42Point Pleasant isn't the only town with a cluster of mysterious sightings that ended in tragedy.
16:48In Texas, there's a long history of reports describing
16:52a muscular, bipedal creature with the face of a dog or wolf.
16:58Often aggressive and sometimes violent.
17:02The official sightings date back to the late 1800s
17:06and are so common that many have given this hotspot a name.
17:10The Texas Dogman Triangle.
17:14The Texas Dogman Triangle is a 700-plus square mile area
17:18and it stretches across Dallas, San Antonio and Houston.
17:21Dozens of encounters there have made it a modern hotspot for Dogman sightings.
17:26Indigenous tribes in the area, like the Caddo, Comanche and Apache,
17:31have long-told stories of shapeshifters and spirit wolves.
17:36In the early 1800s, French fur traders reported run-ins with the Lugaroo,
17:42werewolf-like creatures that were said to roam the dense southern forests.
17:48In 2021, one case brings this Texas hotspot into national headlines, when a man was found dead,
17:56allegedly killed by an unknown canine.
17:59In 2021, just outside Dallas, Christopher Whitley is found dead in the woods with severe neck injuries.
18:06The cause of death is officially listed as injuries of the neck due to animal attack,
18:14with no reference to a mountain lion or any specific animal.
18:18After performing an autopsy, experts agree that the wounds do seem to belong to an animal,
18:23but no one can seem to agree what kind of animal.
18:27Monica Rawlings of Dallas, Texas, has a theory.
18:32She believes the creature that attacked Christopher Whitley is the same creature she encounters in 2013—the Dogman.
18:45I remember the night very well. It's something I'm not going to forget.
18:51I had to pick my daughter up from work.
18:54The drive to her work takes me through a few areas, but it's generally considered very safe.
19:02It was between 11 and 11.30 at night.
19:07I had done that drive probably 20 times. I was just kind of zoning out.
19:14At that point, I notice a feeling come over me—a wave, like this feeling, this sense, just this sense of
19:24danger.
19:26I make the turn onto the street.
19:28There is a pretty decent-sized pool of light from this one street light, and it illuminated quite a decent
19:36area.
19:38So as I'm driving, I see something moving low to the ground.
19:46I thought it was a dog, and it's coming towards the ring of light.
19:52I was 20 yards from it.
19:55It must notice me.
19:57It makes kind of a beeline for my vehicle.
20:04As it got closer, I'm turning my head to look at it.
20:09It starts—instead of this crouching run that it was doing, it starts bounding.
20:16My mind is telling me dogs don't hop like that. I am terrified.
20:27It's 2013.
20:29Monica Rawlings is driving through what many call the Texas Dog Man Triangle to pick up her daughter from work
20:36when she encounters what she describes as a menacing dog-like creature.
20:44It's a big animal and muscular.
20:49It did have, like, a hump on the back of its neck, like a hyena.
20:56And it had tall, pointy ears, and it had a long snout, but it wasn't—it wasn't long like a wolf.
21:02It was a blunted snout, kind of like a bear.
21:07The logical and rational part of my mind is very much at odds with the instinctual part of my body
21:15telling me this is—this is happening, this is real.
21:21My mind is telling me, don't look it in the eyes.
21:30I come to, and I just punch that gas.
21:36I remember thinking, oh, I've done it now.
21:39I just ran, and that's going to trigger the predator-prey response.
21:44I'm flying down these, like, residential roads.
21:49There were several stop signs, and I blew through every single one of them.
21:55I'm terrified, and I am thinking, I'm going to feel this thing jump on the back of my car.
22:02And I wanted to get away from that sensation.
22:04I wanted to get away from the clear danger in my mind.
22:11I came to the shopping center that my daughter worked in.
22:15I parked facing the road, fully expecting to see this thing come out of the darkness.
22:27I remember thinking, they're going to find my car tomorrow, or with all the windows broken out, there's going to
22:32be blood everywhere, and nobody's going to know what happened to me.
22:38I am also concerned that my daughter is going to come out of the car right as this thing emerges.
22:46What do I do?
22:46Do I hit it with my car?
22:56She meanders on up to the car, taking her time.
22:59And the entire time I am thinking, get in the car, get in the car, get in the car.
23:08When she finally opens the door, we start our drive home, and I am quiet.
23:16She asked me if I was okay, because I was just clearly driving in my own head.
23:22And I said, it's nothing, let's just go, I've had a long night.
23:27I didn't want to tell her, because I was debating whether or not I wanted to tell anybody what I
23:33saw.
23:35I remember once we got home that night, I went straight to bed, and I laid there in the dark.
23:45Every time the wind would rustle a brush or a leaf would scrape across the concrete, I would jump out
23:53of my skin.
23:54I would imagine this creature stalking me in the dark, just stalking me, watching me move, waiting to grab me
24:02and take me to wherever it was it came from.
24:05I legitimately have a really hard time trying to rationalize where this thing came from in the middle of Dallas.
24:17I didn't know that there were so many sightings in this triangular area of Texas until I really started looking
24:25into it.
24:28Later, Monica discovers the Christopher Whiteley story and wonders if the killer responsible is the same creature she saw that
24:37night.
24:38I wasn't surprised.
24:40I wasn't surprised.
24:41I wasn't surprised that one of these things had potentially killed a human.
24:46I know that officials were trying to say that it was a mountain lion attack.
24:50The game wardens are saying it's not a mountain lion.
24:53I don't know what killed him, but absolutely.
24:56I think it is within the realm of possibility that it was one of these dogmen.
25:08During the 1960s, Northern California's Klamath Mountains emerged as a major hotspot for alleged sightings of a strange, bipedal ape
25:19-like creature known as Bigfoot.
25:23Multiple local and national newspapers regularly cover the mysterious encounters.
25:30For all the claims, there is little physical evidence.
25:36Until 1967, when two men claimed to capture the creature on camera.
25:43Rodeo cowboys turned filmmakers Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin head into the remote wilderness following reports of a strange, ape
25:51-like creature.
25:53Armed with a 16-millimeter film camera, they're determined to capture what so many others have already claimed that they've
25:59seen.
26:00On October 20th, two friends are beside Bluff Creek, 25 miles northwest of Orleans, California, when they see what appears
26:08to be a massive, hair-covered, bipedal creature.
26:12Patterson and Gimlin roll the camera on the creature for about 59 seconds, and they refer to it as Bigfoot.
26:19The footage is rough.
26:21It's grainy and shaky, but it seems to capture the creature walking away from the camera, momentarily glancing over its
26:29shoulder.
26:29It defines the modern image of Bigfoot.
26:32Upright, muscular, and reclusive.
26:35Their film becomes the most widely recognized piece of cryptid evidence ever captured.
26:42Today, known as the Patterson-Gimlin film.
26:46But skeptics dismiss it as nothing more than a man in a costume.
26:5416 years later, in the summer of 1983, Curtis and Ray Jones believe they may have encountered the same type
27:03of creature captured in Patterson and Gimlin's footage when vacationing in the same mountain range where it was filmed.
27:12We were living in Wairica, California, which is right at the foothill of the Klamath National Forest.
27:21Me and my brother were 15 years old.
27:25Ray is, well, of course he's my identical twin brother.
27:29We were outdoorsy all the time.
27:31We liked to go out and be adventurous.
27:33Yeah, we didn't have video games.
27:35We had to play physical games if we wanted to have any kind of excitement.
27:40Our game was kind of like a mixture of guns and hide-and-go-seek.
27:45It was just fingers.
27:46We just had, you know, bang, bang, bang, bang type of game, you know?
27:49We didn't have any real set rules.
27:54Curtis and Ray divide teams.
27:58Ray and two friends stay at home play, while Curtis and the other kids hide beyond the back fence.
28:06Probably about 8 or 9 at night.
28:09The sun was already going down.
28:12My brother had to count down from 100 while my team took off.
28:19We laid down right next to that chain-link fence.
28:24We were waiting for the other team to come after us.
28:28But as Ray and his team turned to start searching, they see three figures.
28:34We could see these black figures.
28:36I'm trying to figure out if I can recognize some kind of clothing on them or something.
28:39You know, we're trying to focus on what they were.
28:44Beyond the back fence, Curtis and his team noticed the same obscure figures.
28:50My sister nudged me and said, oh, the other team's walking across the field.
28:56Sure enough, three figures walking right through the middle of the field, basically.
29:02So we crawled, and we're doing it real slow.
29:06We'll have the element of surprise.
29:08And all I'm doing is just scanning around, looking for the other team.
29:11While Curtis assumes the three figures on the field are the other team,
29:16back at home plate, Ray knows he is not looking at his brother.
29:21The way that they're walking, it almost looks like they're, like, marching in a certain way.
29:26Like they're, like, synchronizing each other.
29:29The two little bit smaller ones went around the fence.
29:32The other one took, like, two leaps, and it was over the fence.
29:41That fence was at least ten feet.
29:43There's no way that I can just go like this and leap over the fence like that, like this thing
29:48did.
29:50And that just scared me, and I go, they're not regular humans.
29:56And I go, man, could this be Bigfoot?
29:59You know, we've heard of Bigfoot before.
30:01You know, we've seen stories about Bigfoot.
30:05I was scared.
30:07You know, we knew my brother was over there still.
30:14The Klamath Mountains are a world-famous hotspot for Bigfoot encounters.
30:19In 1983, while playing within the mountain range, Curtis and Ray Jones see three obscure figures.
30:28One of the brothers witness a figure make an impossible leap over a large fence.
30:37Ray has identified the creatures.
30:40Curtis is oblivious.
30:43In the tall grass, he can't discern the dark shapes.
30:48Now I notice two figures sitting about 20 feet away from me, just slightly to my left.
30:56They were staring at me, these two figures.
30:59They weren't moving. They were just, they were just fixed up, they were fixated looking at me.
31:04I see the third figure come running, dashing right around the other two.
31:10It was covered in fur or hair.
31:13I could see the upper torso, I could see like the individual hairs.
31:17Those were three feet wide.
31:19Definitely on two legs.
31:21This thing was running so fast, and then it just made a beeline right straight towards me.
31:29And looking at this creature, finally came to a dead stop like 10 feet from me.
31:35I could see him, or her, tilt his head to one side like it wanted to say something to me,
31:41like it wanted to communicate with me.
31:45I was in shock at this point.
31:47That's how scared I was.
31:49I didn't know what else to do.
31:54And I started using my fingers.
31:58And I started going bang, bang, bang.
32:01When I started doing that, when I started shooting after this creature.
32:07Just turned around, and then they just started, they started leaping real high in the grass, away from me.
32:17That's when I started running toward the fence.
32:23My brother Ray, he just yells out, flat out, he just says, we just saw Bigfoot.
32:29That's all I heard.
32:31We saw Bigfoot.
32:32And that's when, that's when all the blood just rushed down from the top of my head.
32:38Never felt a fear like that before.
32:41Of course, you know, we don't want to admit that we were scared, but he was definitely scared.
32:45Like, I could see it in his face.
32:46And at that point, I was trying to figure out what was going on.
32:48I was just, I was in total shock.
32:52I was physically shaking so bad.
32:56And I had tears come down my eyes.
32:59You know, my team was all gathered around me and stuff.
33:02It might take about hours to be totally more calm about it.
33:08The next day, Curtis and Ray begin researching the creatures they saw the night before.
33:15We decided to go to the library.
33:18So we're scanning through all these news articles and stuff.
33:21I've always seen that Patterson film.
33:24I didn't realize that that was on the same mountain range.
33:26I didn't realize that that was that close, you know.
33:29And I found stuff way back that was in Wairika.
33:32That date way back in the early 1900s.
33:35That that whole mountain range has the most sightings in California.
33:41Curtis continues to research.
33:43He questions why the reclusive creatures adventured into the outskirts of Wairika.
33:48I came to find out that in 83, we were experiencing like a four or five year drought at the
33:54time.
33:55My theory was that they were looking for food.
33:57The Klamath Mountains and the Pacific Northwest are the most fertile ground for Bigfoot encounters.
34:04With hundreds of documented reports and a sustained history of sightings.
34:09Many have questioned if this mountain range is its home.
34:13I'm so convinced what I saw was real.
34:17Nothing can change my mind.
34:18I don't care who you are or what you say.
34:21I'm going to believe what I saw.
34:23And that's it.
34:25The Pacific Northwest has become synonymous with the Bigfoot legend.
34:30While another region across the country has earned a reputation for something even more ominous.
34:38Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is known as the steel capital of the world.
34:42Many also allege that it's a hotspot for demonic possession.
34:48During its long history, there are reports of violent possessions at a boarding school.
34:54Exorcisms at St. Joseph's house.
34:57And hauntings of a residence where Native Americans were massacred in the late 1700s.
35:04These strange and dark encounters continue to modern times.
35:09Pittsburgh is so plagued by the volume and severity of exorcism cases, the local Catholic diocese hires a full-time
35:18exorcist named Adam Bly.
35:21In his first 10 years on staff, Bly performs over 100 exorcisms.
35:27But Bly's not the only person in Pittsburgh helping those possessed.
35:33In 2022, Jennifer Flack, a 42-year-old therapist and counselor, claims to have performed an exorcism on a woman
35:43at one of her retreats.
35:45In 2022, I just started building these women's retreats.
35:50Just gather the women, have fellowship.
35:51We're talking about resentments or healing traumas.
35:54We termed as the CPR for the soul workshops.
35:57The day is finished and most of the women left.
36:01I'm cleaning up.
36:03These two women lingered.
36:04Joy and her sister, Risa, are just amazing folks.
36:08They're just wonderful elementary school teachers.
36:11Proper little Catholic sisters.
36:13Joy approached me and she said,
36:15My sister, she's dark.
36:17Then Risa is coming out of the bathroom.
36:19I just, by happenstance, put my right hand on her shoulder.
36:23And I said, she's dark.
36:25Like, how?
36:26How could she?
36:27What do you mean she's dark?
36:28And when I laughed, I turned my head back and Risa's eyes were black.
36:38Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a city many believe is a hotspot for demonic possession.
36:45It's here that Jennifer Flagg, moments after leading a women's retreat,
36:50encounters a woman whose eyes suddenly turn pitch black.
36:56She looked hollow.
36:58She looked like inhuman.
37:00Her head goes from pointing straight to weirdly snapping to me.
37:07She spit in my face.
37:11She called me a...
37:15Whatever was talking to me was not Risa. It was not her.
37:20I couldn't get my right hand off of her shoulder. Like, I had stuck to her.
37:26It was a very strong magnetism. I was trapped.
37:32She was grinding her teeth.
37:34It was so loud.
37:35I thought there was only going to be dust or fragments of her teeth.
37:40My hair was standing up on end.
37:43I was sick to the core of my being. Like, I just wanted to vomit.
37:47So I put my other hand on her.
37:53It hated me. It felt like I was going to die.
37:56I felt like this was... I wasn't getting out of this cabin.
37:59And Joy, at this time, I already had started crying.
38:01And I said, pray every prayer you've ever known, that you've ever learned, and don't stop.
38:06I am praying to every and all entities that will answer me.
38:11God, Jesus, Mother Mary.
38:13She begins to make this guttural noise that sounds kind of like a moan and a growl together.
38:21I felt like I was making whatever was in there angry.
38:26Risa's head turned so fast, it didn't seem humid.
38:29And she says, get that out of my pockets.
38:33And it was not her voice.
38:37It sounded like a deep, male, scary voice.
38:42And it was raspy. It was gross.
38:45I asked Joy, I was like, what's in her pocket?
38:48She said, I put the olive branch cross in one pocket and the sacred heart of Jesus in the other
38:53pockets.
38:53I said, put them on her skin.
38:54She slid the cross in between my right thumb and the back of Risa's neck.
39:00And she held the sacred heart of Jesus on her chest.
39:07It literally looked like something poked out of there.
39:10This was far more than just evil.
39:13This felt demonic.
39:15We're both praying.
39:17I know I was sweating. I was crying.
39:19I don't know what I said.
39:21I just remember asking for God to help.
39:26It was spiritual warfare and we were at war for her soul.
39:30I heard this loud pop.
39:34And she falls out of my hands onto the floor and she's coughing and gagging and choking.
39:41And this smell came out of her that smelled like rotten meat and death.
39:46It smelled like if hell had a breath, it took a breath and let it out.
39:50She crawled a few steps to get onto her feet.
39:54She went running to the bathroom.
39:56She was still choking and gagging and it sounded like something was coming out of her.
40:02She started throwing up in the bathroom.
40:05And in that moment, I just felt like there was something evil there.
40:10Like it was in the room with us.
40:18I just went to the front door and opened the cabin door.
40:22It went past me.
40:24And when it did, I felt it.
40:28And it was a large, tall looking and I don't know what else to describe it as.
40:34Whatever the energy was, it was, it was pissed.
40:39It was, it lost something that it wanted and it was angry with me.
40:43And I felt that.
40:46And when I shut the door, I felt like I locked it out, like I shut it outside.
40:51Like my body's soaking wet.
40:53You could wring sweat out of my clothes.
40:57Joy's still crying.
40:59She was terrified.
41:00Risa, when she emerged from the bathroom, she sat on the couch.
41:03She looked right in my face and asked me if that was the devil.
41:07And I said, I don't know what it was, but it wasn't God.
41:12The ordeal finally ends, leaving Jennifer with only questions about what had occurred.
41:19I had called her the next morning and I said, how's, how's everybody doing?
41:24I'm just checking in.
41:25I mean, she said to me, she said, did I do anything bad to you?
41:29Then I said, no, that's okay.
41:31She said, I'm sorry.
41:32I said, it's okay.
41:34She had no idea what happened.
41:36I literally told them to go to their priest and tell them what had happened at their home church.
41:42And she said, absolutely not.
41:44We didn't even tell our husbands.
41:45We're not telling anybody.
41:47We're never talking about this again.
41:51I can't forget whatever that was.
41:53That was not, that was not a human disembodied spirit.
41:56That was evil.
41:57That was pure evil.
41:58I can feel it.
41:59I can smell it.
42:01I will know it for the rest of my life.
42:03It's seared into my soul.
42:07Some places are magnets for terrifying creatures, paranormal activity, and dark entities.
42:16These hotspots alter the lives of the witnesses who question.
42:22Is it safe?
42:24Are they still there?
