00:04As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. Welcome to the final stretch as we approach
00:10the last 10 nights of Ramadan, the most exciting times for this beautiful month of Ramadan.
00:16And Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has favoured us. Imagine if these 10 nights were actually at
00:21the beginning of Ramadan, it would be such an anti-climax as we ended Ramadan. But Allah
00:27Almighty in His divine wisdom has designed a beautiful month of Ramadan in a way that when
00:34we started, we were all energetic, energized. We had a beautiful plan and we started so,
00:41so beautifully with a lot of strength, dedication and focus. And as the days passed, sadly as human
00:48beings, what did we do? We became a little bit more relaxed. And so Allah says, we are giving you
00:54the
00:54last 10 nights, you enter them and inshaAllah, you get to that finish line in an amazing way
01:00where you've maximized the benefit of this beautiful month of Ramadan. So what should we do during these
01:07last 10 nights as we approach them? The first thing you and I need to do is to renew our
01:14intentions.
01:15How do I renew an intention? I have to go back and ask myself, why am I fasting?
01:30I'm fasting not to lose weight, not to regain my body shape. No, I'm fasting for the pleasure of Allah.
01:41primarily in order to achieve taqwa, which is the correct relationship with Allah. To be able to
01:48fear His wrath, to be able to love doing what He's asked me to do, to be able to love
01:53staying away
01:54what He's asked me to stay away from. When I haven't eaten, I haven't eaten out of the love of
02:00Allah.
02:01When I've eaten, I've eaten out of the love of Allah. And this is why I tell people, especially the
02:07women
02:07in their menstrual cycle, when they say, I can't fast. I say, it's not about fasting. It's about
02:12obeying Allah's instruction. The reward is achieved when you obey Allah's instruction, whether He tells
02:18you to eat or not to eat, whether He tells you to do or not to do. And this should
02:23seep through with
02:24all other acts of worship. That's amazing. So number one, we renew our intentions. I'm doing it for the
02:30sake of Allah. Oh Allah, help me through the last 10 nights in a way that I benefit, that I
02:36change my
02:37life, that you are pleased with me, that if I were to leave this world, I leave it in a
02:41way that you
02:41are happy with me and I can earn your mercy so that I can get Jannatul Firdaus. And that's why
02:47the most powerful prayer to pray in these nights is Allahumma innaka afuun tuhibbul afwa faafuhani.
02:57You love to forgive. So forgive me. You achieve forgiveness through the mercy of Allah. You will
03:02achieve paradise through the mercy of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala as well. So this is something very
03:07powerful. If you look at the verses that have mentioned the month of Ramadan, the reason that
03:12Allah has prescribed this month, and He only says, لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ In order that you achieve
03:17taqwa, develop your relationship with Allah by fulfilling His commands, staying away from the
03:23prohibitions. Also, there is a surah, Surat Al-Qadr, where Allah mentions the night of decree, being in the last
03:3110
03:31nights of Ramadan. So the surah does not mention the exact night, but it says in Ramadan, Allah says,
03:38لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ That there is a night of decree. In fact, the Quran in that particular
03:45surah doesn't mention that it is in Ramadan, but we know it's in Ramadan, right? And Allah says, it is
03:51better
03:52than a thousand months. A thousand months, if you were to make a quick calculation, it is actually
03:5883.3 years, approximately. 83 years. So if you were to engage in worship for one night, and you happened
04:07to have that night of decree as that particular night, you have a multiplied reward for everything
04:14you did. You read Quran, it's as though you read it for 83.3 years. You gave a charity as
04:20though you've
04:20given it perpetually for 83.3 years. You did some adhkar, it's as though you did the adhkar for 83
04:26.3
04:27years. And that's why the hadith says, whoever stands in prayer on the night of decree, it's as
04:33though they've stood forever, for a lifetime, and they will be forgiven. They will be forgiven all their
04:40previous sins. And whoever has fasted on that particular day, Allah grants them a reward. And
04:46the last 10 nights is very unique. It's different from the first 20. And who decided it's going to
04:52be different? Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. We're coming towards the end of Ramadan, and there is the
04:57greatest likelihood of the night of decree being one of those particular nights. So every act of worship
05:04you do on this particular night is multiplied for 83.5 years almost, subhanallah, 83.3 to be a little
05:13bit more precise. In fact, 0.33. Okay, for those who are a little bit OCD, mashallah. May Allah Almighty
05:20grant us the ability to witness the night. May Allah Almighty help us to search for the night. What is
05:26meant by searching for the night? Searching for the night by every single day doing something extra for
05:33the sake of Allah. With the idea that one of these nights is going to be the last, meaning is
05:39going
05:39to be Laylatul Qadr. And when we say Laylatul Qadr, remember Qadr is taken from the decree, the
05:47Taqdeer, and it's also taken from Qudra, Qadra. So the power, the power of Allah, indeed. And the Taqdeer
05:57means the destiny. We will talk about that in another episode. But for now, what we need to remember
06:03is become serious. Be serious regarding these beautiful nights. Because if we haven't done
06:08well enough in the first 20, here Allah is giving you a bonus to say 10 more nights. Let's go
06:16for it.
06:16They have greater value. It reminds me of a football match to a degree, to a certain extent. Because
06:23if you haven't scored at the beginning and you're about to draw to the 90 minutes, the last 10 minutes
06:30are very exciting with everyone cheering you on and you're running from one side to the other.
06:36Because you have to make a difference before the whistle is blown. If you have scored one goal,
06:41you've won even by one goal, you still got the cup. But if you haven't done much, subhanAllah,
06:47all that cheering and all that running around in the last few minutes was all wasted. Ramadan is a much
06:53higher example. So great because it's not a play. It's not a game. But we've only drawn an example for
07:01people on earth today to say towards the end of something, make sure you've scored the goal. Make
07:07sure you got what you're supposed to be getting. You have played for, you know, 70 minutes, 20 minutes
07:13remaining. What are you going to do? You're still 0-0 or you're still 1-1. You have to make
07:18sure you're
07:18going to do something unique and keep going, keep going, don't give up. You will definitely get that
07:24night by the will of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. You will get that night. And just like if you
07:29keep
07:29going with football, you will score that goal by the will of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. And if I
07:34always
07:34give an example, when the moon is not sighted, it's like we're going to, you know, what they call the
07:39penalty shootout. Let's leave football aside. Let's talk more seriously. Make the most of these nights.
07:44Wallahi, the final stretch is the most important. If you have missed out on this, you've missed
07:50out on everything. And if you've gained this, even if you've lost in the first few days of
07:56Ramadan, you still will win the pleasure of Allah, the connection with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
08:02May Allah grant us all goodness.
