Trump says he's 'not putting troops' in Iran

President Donald Trump said Thursday he’s “not putting troops anywhere” as reports surfaced that the administration is considering deploying thousands of troops to the Middle East.  Asked about the possibility of U.S. ground troops being deployed to Iran during an Oval Office meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, Trump insisted, “No. I'm not putting troops anywhere.”  He then said he could deploy military forces wherever he wanted, but said he’d not tell reporters about his plans.

00:09No, I'm not putting troops anywhere. If I were, I certainly wouldn't tell you, but I'm not putting troops.

00:26I think every country does. Just about every country does. Iran is a serious threat to the world, to the

00:32Middle East and to the world.

00:34And everybody agrees with me. I think virtually every country agrees with me on that.

00:39So I wanted to put out that fire.
