00:00Is this the year of the Red Bull?
00:02They've gotten off to a good start to their MLS season
00:04thanks to a mixture of some teenagers, some grown vets,
00:08and this guy right here, Red Bulls New York
00:10and U.S. Men's National Team player, Cade Cowell.
00:13Cade, appreciate you hopping on with this, my man.
00:16Let's get straight into this, man.
00:18Because I'm a Red Bulls fan, you guys are killing it
00:22to start the season.
00:22But let's get into talking about you for a little bit
00:25and how you got here to New York.
00:28You started your career with San Jose,
00:31you made the move to Chivas,
00:32and now you've been with Red Bulls New York
00:35for a couple of months now.
00:36So what's been the biggest difference for you
00:39coming back to the MLS from Liga MX?
00:43Yeah, I would say the biggest difference right now
00:45is just how cold it is here.
00:48No, but honestly, no, I think it's been a great time.
00:52You know, Michael's been nothing but, you know,
00:55good for all of us.
00:56And, you know, the way we play, you know, it fits us all perfect.
00:58High pressing, you know, I feel like we're a very fun team right now
01:01and there's a lot of energy going around.
01:03So, you know, it's been a very enjoyable time.
01:06All right.
01:06Well, luckily for you, the weather will get nicer, I can promise you.
01:10But it's going to get worse before it gets better.
01:13So if you need to hop on a flight back to Mexico to get that tan, man,
01:16we won't even be mad at you for that.
01:19But let's kind of talk about the team, man,
01:20because you guys got a very unique dynamic.
01:22You got a mixture of some 17-year-olds to some high 20-something-year-olds.
01:28So what's that chemistry like on the locker room
01:32and how does that translate over on the pitch?
01:36Yeah, I would say the chemistry has been amazing, you know.
01:39The vets treat all the young guys very good.
01:41You know, the young guys are always eager to learn every day
01:43and, you know, give their best.
01:44And, you know, we have a very fun young locker room.
01:47So, you know, there's a lot of, you know, jokes constantly.
01:50And the chemistry is great.
01:51I love it.
01:52All right.
01:522-1-1 on the season.
01:54You got a tough one against Charlotte FC coming up this Saturday.
01:58Again, take us into the locker room, man.
02:00When you guys are having your talks about what your goals are
02:04and what you want to accomplish this year,
02:06how good can this squad be this season?
02:09Yeah, I think it really just depends on, you know, us.
02:12You know, we showed what we can do the first two games.
02:14We were a little slow against Montreal.
02:16You know what happens.
02:17But, you know, that was on us.
02:19You know, we control what we can do.
02:22And, you know, we came back.
02:24Sadly, I wasn't there in Toronto.
02:25But, you know, they really showed a really good game away.
02:28It's not easy to play away.
02:30And, you know, they got a result.
02:31So that's huge.
02:32It always helps.
02:33And, you know, I think we're going to be ready for Charlotte.
02:35It's going to be a great one.
02:36And, you know, the vibes are high this weekend.
02:38We're ready to show what we can do again.
02:39You get to play for a legend in Michael Bradley
02:42and Maurizio Pochettino on the national side.
02:46So what's both of these coaches like?
02:50Can you give us any funny or cool stories about them?
02:53I promise I won't snitch.
02:56No, I mean, Michael, you know, the energy he brings every day.
02:59You know, we work so hard.
03:00You know, we go over so much film and video.
03:02He's just so committed into his work, you know,
03:05that I feel like we feed off that, you know.
03:06And, you know, obviously the experience he has, you know,
03:10we all listen to that.
03:12And, you know, he's awesome.
03:13You know, he's not very serious.
03:14You know, he still jokes around with us and all the young guys.
03:17And, you know, he's a very, very good guy.
03:19You know, I've been with Pochettino just a couple times.
03:21Very, very little so far.
03:23But, you know, he was very funny.
03:25Very hardcore.
03:26You know, a lot of hard work.
03:27You know, when you go there, it's not vacation or, you know,
03:30it's not like a little break.
03:31You know, it's straight to work.
03:32So, I think the boys have been very well with that, you know,
03:36and it's been showing, you know.
03:37So, it's very serious.
03:38And, you know, I think they're going to be ready for the World Cup.
03:41So, with the World Cup right around the corner, like,
03:44is it hard for you sometimes to kind of stay locked in, present,
03:47in your Red Bull season and not look ahead to what's right around the corner
03:52this summer?
03:53Yeah, no, I think it's more of just a motivation, you know.
03:55I think, like, you know, I'm right there.
03:57You know, anything could happen.
03:59You know, so I use it, you know, game by game.
04:01And, you know, hope to get some goals or assists, you know,
04:04some good games, you know, because, you know, he's always watching.
04:06What were your initial thoughts when you saw that the U.S.
04:10men's national team was drawn into a group D with Paraguay,
04:15Australia, and a TBD team?
04:18Yeah, I think, you know, obviously, you know, a lot of U.S.
04:20fans are happy, and I'm sure we're happy.
04:21We were going to be happy no matter who we face.
04:23But, you know, it's a good way to start out the World Cup.
04:26You know, the biggest thing now is just to advance on to the next round.
04:29You know, you guys are really doing your thing on the pitch this year,
04:32so good luck for the rest of that season and, of course, the World Cup, man.
04:36I appreciate you hopping on with us.
04:37Yeah, thanks, man.
04:37Thanks for the time.
04:38Thanks for the time.
