05:54You know, they really fit in the area that they're found. They're kind of like these mover, loader employees.
06:00But the way they yell and attack you shows that there's something still a bit wrong with them.
06:06Up here is an exolift. I want to try that out.

06:12We will deal with our friend here, and then we will use the exolift.

06:36Alright, well done. Two for one.
06:40Okay, so an exolift, it's the way that Warren can reach different vertical areas.
06:47It can go higher or lower. It functions very much like a ladder, but we think it's cooler.
06:53Now here's another overcharge station. The difference is that this one is higher level.
06:58Now, like I mentioned before, exploration is a major element of the game for us, and you'll have a lot
07:04of reasons to explore the world of the Surge.
07:06We see our levels as being pretty Metroidvanian in nature. They're really interconnected, and you'll find a lot of areas
07:13that you're not able to access until later in the game, until you have more power or different capabilities.
07:18So when you find something that you're not able to open yet, it's really a good reason to backtrack later
07:23to fully explore.
07:24A lot of times you'll find other encounters or rare loot.
07:27But now that we've turned on the power to the warehouse here, we're able to go through this door that
07:33we just opened.
07:34Which seems to open up a shortcut back to the operations.
07:38So that's a pretty good opportunity for us to craft some new gear with all these blueprints that we've gathered.
07:54So up ahead here is a med bay. This is what allows you to use your tech scrap to power
07:59up your ExoRig. It heals you, of course.
08:02And then here we have a crafting station, so let's use that.
08:06Okay, so we see the blueprints that we've acquired so far. We see the helmet, we see the staff.
08:11Let's go ahead and make these things.
08:12Make a staff.
08:14Make a little loader weapons.
08:15And this is really the core gear loop for the game.
08:19You know, you cut off pieces from your enemies, you learn the blueprints, and then you use those to craft
08:24new equipment for yourself.
08:25So let's go ahead and try on some of these things.
08:28Let me craft them.
08:30Security staff.
08:32Loader weapons.
08:36Sweet new helmet that we got before.
08:40And we also have this armor piece.
08:42Now, this particular piece of chest armor will illuminate in the darkness, it casts these bright lights, it helps you
08:49to see, helps you to find enemies and find loot.
08:52You know, other armors will, you know, do things like protect you from environmental hazards.
08:57So it's really important for you to experiment with different pieces of equipment, see what sort of special effects they
09:03give, so that you know how to approach all the challenges of the world in the most effective way.
09:09So like I said, we can use tech scrap at the med bay to level up our core power.
09:14Looks like right now, yeah, we don't have enough to get a full level up yet, but that's okay because
09:19now we've banked that tech scrap so we don't lose it when we die.
09:22And then we also have the implants, which I mentioned before.
09:24So implants can have passive benefits, they can also be active injectables like Sebastian has been using to recover his
09:31health when he's low.
09:31But all implants use different amounts of core power.
09:35So as you play the game, you really have to sort of balance the core power requirements and your total
09:41core power against the, you know, your personal gameplay style and sort of effects that you think are most important.
09:49Alright, so why don't we head out and try some of these new, these new toys that we've made.
09:54Be careful out there.
09:57Okay, so this is the way we like to do cutscenes in the search.
10:00You don't like to take control of your camera, you know, you make the cutscenes all part of the game.
10:06What that means is that, if you watch them or not, they're always just going to occur around you, whether
10:12you pay attention or not.
10:13It's really up to you. Sometimes we'll offer a context camera so you can have a more cinematic view, but
10:17it's never required.
10:19It's always your choice.
10:23And all of our different weapons, they have different movesets, different feels altogether, different finishing sequences.
10:35Pretty brutal.
10:38So as you get new weapons in the surge, you'll really want to test them out.
10:42See which one feels the best to you.
10:45Which one is most effective in your own hands.
10:48It's really your choice.
10:55See the loader weapons get faster, more agile.
10:59A little more combo-y.
11:02But also pretty brutal.
11:07Okay, so now that we're more comfortable with these new weapons, why don't we go back through the shortcut and
11:15see what's on the other side of things.
11:29Super dangerous.

11:32Okay, yeah.
11:33So I was talking before about the context camera.
11:35This is what lets you have a more cinematic view as this angry boss robot gets up out of the
11:41rubble.
11:42You can watch it if you want, you can also prepare for the boss fight, that's totally fine.
11:47You can see he wanted to shoot you with a rail gun.
11:49Fortunately for him, it is malfunctioned, so he's going to have to use a little bit more of a personal
11:53touch.
12:04So it's about to see on the scene that we're not actually dealing damage to the boss's real health.
12:14But we are increasing the threat analysis meter, so I guess we should figure out what happens when the threat
12:22analysis is full.
12:23and refills team.
12:32Are you a pienid of measures, huh?
12:34Rehabillation implemented.
12:35Well of course, rockets.
12:38Not very nice.
12:41That's what I do when I heat a rotating group.
12:44But we still haven't dealt any damage to its real health bar.
12:49So maybe, if we're careful, we'll use those rockets against it somehow.
12:59Pretty close.
13:12Ok, there we go.
13:13So now we force it to be hit by its own rockets, we're able to target its armor piece, knock
13:19it off, and then give it a good solid punch right in its robot brain, which has dealt some real
13:25damage.
13:27Now let's see if we can repeat this process.
13:31Now one thing to note is that, you know, this is one way to defeat the boss, but it's certainly
13:37not the only way to defeat the boss.
13:39And this easier method does not allow you to receive the most powerful loot.
13:45So if you want the best things off the bosses, then you'll have to fight them fair.
13:53Show honor.
13:54Not really. It's not really a game about honor.
13:59Threat analysis is almost full again.
