00:00Johor UMNO leaders say the party, strengthened by growing unity, is gaining renewed support
00:06among young voters even as its rivals struggle with strained ties.
00:10Kulai UMNO Division Chief Nurjaslan Mohamad said, infighting within Bersatu and instability
00:16in Perikata Nacional may have shifted perceptions among Malay voters.
00:20He added that Johor's economic growth under Muntri Basar on Hafiz Ghazi has reinforced
00:25the party's appeal with young Malays feeling the improvements.
00:30Nurjaslan acknowledged UMNO's collapse in 2018 due to issues like the 1MDB scandal, but
00:36said confidence is gradually returning.
00:39Meanwhile, Johor UMNO Youth Chief Nurazaleen Ambrose said, the party's leadership in the
00:44state government and 100 billion ringgit in foreign investments secured last year show
00:49effective administration.
00:51Political analyst Awang Azman-Pawi from University of Malaya said, UMNO is now seen as more stable
00:57and open to reconciliation with previously suspended or sacked leaders.
01:01However, International Islamic University Malaysia's Shahzah Shukri warned that UMNO's confidence
01:07may stem from rivals' weaknesses and that multi-cornered fights and unclear alliance strategies could
01:12pose challenges.
