00:44It was really important that we distinguished the rigs as high-end sporting vehicles rather than lumbering war machines.
00:52We started to get a bead on some of the things we felt we could push and differentiate within our
00:57rig designs.
00:58We could use colour, so we could actually inject a sense of sporting livery into the rigs.
01:03That, coupled with exposing the pilot, were kind of some of the first things we decided to explore in our
01:08designs.
01:09We wanted to make sure there wasn't any extraneous stuff on the rigs that were very streamlined.
01:14Making all the edges feel like they flowed and had a purpose and actually that they were kind of really
01:21sleek and sexy.
01:23As soon as we added in sponsor logos, it just brought everything to life and it gave it that sense
01:27of tangibility.
01:29It made it feel like it was a real sporting livery.
01:33We knew we wanted the different rig classes and so there was lots of iteration of the design.
01:38There was ideas about, well, this class of rig might work this way, this one might work this way.
01:44There's a small and robust hunts class that can be very quickly across the ground.
01:49A 10-pist class that can launch up into the air.
01:53We have a Mirage class that's taller and more athletic and capable of double jumps.
01:58And we have a Sentinel class which is big and heavy and robust and can do massive, boosted jumps into
02:04the air and slam down with a great impact.
02:10When we started looking at locations for our arenas, we knew we wanted to have some diversity.
02:15We wanted rigs to look like a global sport.
02:19We started with Rio to begin with.
02:21It piqued our interest in terms of it being kind of up and coming.
02:26So it actually felt appropriate for it to maybe, you know, in the future have a big rigs arena.
02:32Dubai is very calm and wide as sand and blue skies.
02:39And it pushed the aesthetic much more into kind of our picture you see in Dubai now.
02:45In Nevada, one of our environment artists actually suggested as though, kind of, Lake Mead had dried out.
02:52But then adding a rigs arena was something that was really interesting to us.
02:57And then the fourth arena that we've just done is set in Macau.
03:03Half of it is outside this large casino and then the other half is inside and you can kind of
03:08look up and see this big spectacle of a place.
03:17In VR, I think it's important that you have something that you recognise and then actually if you have that
03:24grounding, that foundation, anything you build on top of that is kind of greater because of that.
03:32The first time that all those came together in one piece, so the lightweight materials, the blade legs, the sporting
03:40deliveries, the sponsorship decals and logos, it's come together really well.
03:46When we got a mirage in the pits working in VR to like a decent graphical standard for the first
03:53time and people kind of put the kit on and then it was towering six metres above them, that was
03:58like, you've got something cool for it.
