00:01A Westminster councillor has accused the local authority of failing to protect residents and
00:06visitors from dangerous illegal car meets. Councillor Rachel Rebathan, a Conservative
00:12representing Knightsbridge and Belgravia, said she has pressed the Labour administration for
00:18more than a year to introduce tougher measures. She is calling for the roundabout at the top of
00:24Exhibition Road to be resurfaced with a high-friction material to deter racing and drifting, along with
00:31an injunction that would give police stronger enforcement powers. Westminster Council said it
00:36is working with Kensington and Chelsea to install a high-friction anti-skid surface that can only be
00:42delayed during warmer temperatures.
